Back at the Brady barbeque, it looks like Daniel's ready to head out as the rest of the family watch the fireworks.
Lexi puts Theo to bed after reading "Goodnight Moon" to him, three times. She says it's been a long day for him and for her and she wants to go to bed. Abe asks her to stay and talk to him, but she's not sure what more there is to say. "Our little boy is Autistic and we have to learn to live with it," she says, sadly. Abe wants to discuss their plight but Lexi doesn't think it'll do any good. She wants to start on treatments and therapies tomorrow. Abe wants to help, too and it breaks his heart that Theo won't have the life they envisioned for him. Lexi struggles not to cry as Abe says Theo's still their son and he can still have a great future, he thinks. Lexi wants to believe him but isn't ready yet. They hug and Lexi bursts out in tears. She admits she had hoped she was over-reacting. Abe says he accepts the truth but he will fight for Theo.
At Abe and Lexi's house, Marlena is sorry. "Everything has changed because of one word," says Abe. Abe and Lexi says that word is Autism. Abe refuses to believe that this is real and Lexi asks Abe if Theo said more than five words during the entire day. Abe thinks he's still young. He has thirty words in his vocabulary, Lexi says. Marlena wants to help as a friend, not a doctor, considering this is not her field of specialty. Lexi wants to work through this themselves, she says but Marlena tells them she has a sense of what they're going through. She remembers losing a baby to SIDS and reminds them they still have Theo. This type of pain can destroy a marriage as it did hers and she worries about them. Abe says they'll be fine. Lexi doesn't know how to process this, let alone figure out what to do. She cries, she wants her little boy to be alright. Abe kisses her. Marlena urges them to get help and hugs them and leaves. After she's gone, Lexi weeps.
At home, Lexi expresses her frustrations about Theo to Abe. She tells him that when he plays with toys, his behavior isn't normal. "It scares me to death!" She says she had so many dreams for her son! When Marlena stops in, Abe tries to brush off her concern, saying that they're fine, but Lexi speaks up, "No Abe, we're not. And neither is Theo!" Marlena asks if something is wrong with Theo and Lexi admits that they have just found out that their son is autistic! Marlena pulls the tearful Lexi into an embrace.
At the hospital, Daniel calls and makes dinner reservations for two. He then walks into Kate's room, where she promptly orders him out! Outside in the hallway, Abe and Theo visit with Lexi. They are upset when Theo doesn't say hello to Lindsay the aide. Abe takes their son and leaves, and Lexi sighs with worry. As Lindsay offers to babysit for her anytime, Lexi hears the commotion in Kate's room! She goes in, and Kate once again, says she'd like Dr. Jonas to leave. He does. Lexi questions why Kate requested another doctor. Kate says she isn't comfortable with Daniel operating on her - end of discussion. Abe and Theo come into the room and Kate greets Theo enthusiastically. When they leave again, Kate notices that Lexi seems distracted. Lexi explains that they are having Theo tested that day. Kate says she hopes it's nothing serious, and Lexi replies, "So do I."
Roman and Abe wander the pier. Roman thinks Abe needs time off but work is keeping him sane, he says. They discuss Marlena moving out of the mansion and Roman thinks it's a good idea. Chloe listens from nearby as talk turns to Lucas being cooped up. They doubt if he'd try to get out, knowing an hour out will mean 10 years in prison. When Eric calls Roman, Abe leaves and Roman asks how his [broken] leg is coming along. Chloe leaves.
At the hospital, Lexi flashes back to talking with Abe about Theo's issues at school. Abe shows up with important news to tell Lexi. He agrees that the best thing they can do is to have Theo see a specialist.
Abe interrogates John in the holding room at Salem PD. Abe's surprised that his counsel, EJ is not there. John says EJ has personal issues to attend to and he can get along fine without him since he's innocent and framed by Philip. Roman arrives and Officer Gonzales provides him with a file. The officers look it over and show John a good reason why John should plead guilty at his arraignment. The crates were designated to go to one of his warehouses and Abe thinks Hollingsworth would have cleared it. John says they're speculating, but he's looking guiltier by the second, says Roman. John assumes someone doctored the manifest. John reminds them that he's always been honest with them since his return. Officer Gonzales takes John away for his arraignment and Abe and Roman agree. They don't believe John. When John returns, Roman tells him that Marlena paid his bail. John's surprised and goes off to find her.
John paces his cell, clearly agitated. Abe arrives and asks if he's ready to come clean. "No, I was set up,' John maintains. Abe has proof that John was involved and asks if there is anything else John wants to say. "Yes, go to hell," John spits out. Philip Kiriakis set him up. Once Abe leaves, John flashes back to being arrested and continues pacing and checking the door.
Ava arrives at Salem PD to sign papers to sign out her father's body [for the funeral]. Chelsea arrives and yells at Ava, "What are you doing here?" Ava's confused. She doesn't know Chelsea. Chelsea asks, "Planning anymore plane crashes?" Ava realizes she's Bo's daughter. Chelsea urges her to leave town but Ava can't. She's out on bail. Chelsea warns her to stay away from her family. Ava tells her she wishes she had a father like Bo. Abe gives Ava her papers and she leaves and Chelsea tells Abe she's looking for her dad. Abe tells her to check the pub and as she's on the way out, John is brought in, yelling. Marlena tries to get Abe to take the cuffs off him as John tells Roman that he has flashbacks to Stefano confining him. Roman reminds John he knows and Abe wonders about the cocaine. John doesn't know anything about it. EJ arrives and asks if they're pressing formal charges. EJ tells them using brutal force is against the law, last time he checked and he'll have Salem PD tied up for a year with the grief over this. From outside the room, Ava listens in. "I think I just found myself a lawyer," she says, impressed. Back inside, Abe takes John to get booked, and ignores EJ's demands to unhand John. Marlena tells Roman that John's emotional well being is precarious. Roman knows but he also knows what John is done and what he's capable of. He's not enjoying this but he thinks the new John Black could be guilty. Marlena tries to reason with Roman.
Outside Roman's office, Ava introduces herself to EJ and asks him to take her case. He doesn't have time and prefers not to, he says. Ava won't take no for an answer. They watch John return to Roman's office and beg Marlena's help. Ava offers to pay EJ double of what John's paying! EJ agrees to it and they shake over it. After she leaves, EJ flashes back to Sami signing the annulment and sighs. "Not giving up," he says to himself. "Not giving up."
