In the vestibule, Dr. Baker tells Mia that she could have ruined everything and that there’s something she needs to know about! He asks her to keep her baby safe and should know that the DiMera’s are evil. "They’re killers, Mia." Mia is shocked and asks why he let them keep her baby. Dr. Baker says they haven’t a choice.
Inside the church, Lexi continues reading from scripture and Father Matt says it’s time for the vows. "Now for the good part," gushes Nicole, while EJ says, "Right on schedule."
The vows are read at the church and rings are exchanged as Stefano stares at the goon. Stefano says this has been an emotional time for their family. They’ve known great sorrow and great joy and they’re ready to welcome another DiMera into the family. Stefano says after today, there will be a sacramental bond after she takes her vows, that will never be broken. He asks if she knows what it truly means to be a DiMera. She does and he gives his blessing and EJ stops the wedding because he wrote his own vows! He talks about how beautiful she looked in a bright orange jumpsuit, yelling at guards and tells her he can’t vow they’ll never fight again or that he’ll never come on strong like a European patriot but he vows to love and protect their daughter and will be the husband and father they expect. Nicole tries to kiss him but Father Matt stops it! "Not so fast! You’re not yet husband and wife!" The guests chuckle.
EJ and Nicole marry and Nicole admits she’s never been so happy. EJ says it’s just the beginning. In her head, Nicole thanks God for everything. They unite the Unity Candle, but it blows out and Nicole’s face falls. EJ shrugs and relights it with his own candle. Later, the ceremony is almost over when Stefano’s goon nods at him.
Just when the ceremony is almost at an end, Sami interrupts the wedding, with Grace.
Sami sees Rafe at the pub, but he gives her the cold shoulder, so she is about to leave, but turns around and lets him know she’s going to pick up Grace today. Sami wants to know if he’s staying, but he thinks she has made it clear that what he does doesn’t matter. Abe arrives and hugs Sami. He invites her to stop by for a visit and they discuss how she’s adjusting to being home. Abe’s sorry he couldn’t help Rafe get a position at Salem PD. They’re trying to avoid layoffs as it is. Abe assumes Rafe cares a lot for her, considering all he has given up. Abe shouldn’t say but he admits Rafe was offered a position at NYPD in the Terrorism Force. It’s a prize position. Abe gets a call and Sami rushes off to talk to Rafe, who has just left the pub.
At Salem PD, Bo has another vision of Hope making love to a man in a bed. It angers him and when Roman walks in, asking what's wrong, Bo blames the budget. Roman leaves and goes to Rafe, thanking him for taking care of Sami. Rafe is applying for this job on his own merits and says it wasn't his idea for Sami to call the mayor. Roman grins. "What the hell did Sami do?" Rafe explains the call to Abe and Roman says Sami never takes "No" for an answer! Roman says he could use Rafe to investigate the person who hired the hit man who killed the mayor.
Abe shows up to Bo's office and notices Bo's mood. Bo doesn't want to discuss it, so Abe gives him a file.
At the pub, Chloe spies Daniel and Lucas asks why she's looking at him. She wants to continue this in private, so they leave. Abe comes in on their heels and shows Hope a file. He just pulled strings and had her reinstated! Hope is thrilled to pieces and hugs Abe, while Daniel grins, happy for her.
Outside the pub, Lucas asks what's going on with Chloe. She wants them to commit to each other and stalks off, thinking he just doesn't want to be married to her!
Bo rushes into the pub and jokingly chastises Abe for not waiting for him to tell Hope the good news. Bo and Hope kiss and say things are looking up. From across the room, Daniel watches and flashes to Chloe kissing him. He tells himself it's over.
Theo and Abe meet Lexi at the hospital. Theo has a big hug for Lexi and begs Abe to stay with him, instead of going to work. Abe offers to take Theo to his OT appointment but Lexi doesn’t think they need to give him what he wants all the time. He needs to be able to deal with frustration. Abe says he’s making progress and doesn’t think this is a big deal, but Lexi worries they may be taking a step backwards. She figures she’s doing something wrong. Abe says he may never do the normal things other kids do to show love but he does so in his own way. Abe comforts her and supports her. "You’re a good mom."
Chelsea arrives at the hospital and Theo jumps into her arms, thrilled to see her. He turns to Lexi and Abe and says, "Family." Chelsea tells him that’s right and he is lucky to have them! Abe and Lexi beam.
Bo bumps into Hope at the hospital and asks why she hasn’t returned his calls. She can’t deal with what happened and what both of them did or didn’t do. She can’t discuss it now and isn’t sure she’ll ever be able to. They rehash what happened and Hope says she loves being a cop, but doesn’t think she’ll have a job after today. Bo promises to take care of it but Hope doesn’t think they mean much when promises aren’t kept. Abe and Roman interrupt. Things are uncomfortable.
