Sweet Southern Squeeze

Thursday, October 09 2008

Abe and Lexi arrive at the park and Abe says he wants to become mayor more than anything, but his concerns are that it'll take time from his family. Lexi asks him to hold on. She's not going to let anything take him away from her and Theo! Abe laughs, and the mood shifts when Lacey rushes up to Abe and screams to Lexi that Theo has gone missing.

Sexy Eyes...

Tuesday, September 30 2008

At the station, Bo reiterates that Trent was found at 9:15 PM, with a stab wound to the back. Steve wonders what Trent was doing at the cemetery and thinks Caroline could have done it if it were self-defense. Bo points out that she'd have come clean by now. They discuss putting a rush on the fibers they found. Abe arrives, after hearing about Caroline, and wants to help. Mayor Mariano arrives and chastises the Salem PD for not catching the murderer and having a family member jailed as the perp. Bo assures Mariano that they're handling it. Roman interjects that they're going by the book, but Mariano thinks someone more objective should be handling this case. Bo calls Mariano a lowlife and Mariano reminds Bo he's always bending the rules. Roman stops Bo from going at Mariano and assures the Mayor that they're handling things properly. Mariano says Internal Affairs is chomping at the bit to get their hands on this one. He'll have his eye on them. Later, he offers Abe a freelance job to keep an eye on the Brady boys. Abe laughs at him. "You've got to be kidding me." Mariano retorts," I never kid during an election year. I'd be more than willing to give Abe a healthy advance." Abe tells the Mayor that he can't be bought, and leaves.

At the hospital, Theo goes off with Marc for his session and Lexi bumps into Kayla and comforts her regarding Caroline's arrest. Kayla admits she's walking around in a daze but welcomes the distraction of work. They discuss Theo's progress and Kayla thinks they're doing amazingly well. Kayla admits she's been hired as new interim Chief of Staff. Lexi's thrilled for Kayla. She'll do a great job and offers to help if needed. They go off for coffee, and later, Lexi tells Kayla to beware of Eleanor Thomas, who is on the board. Abe arrives and Kayla's beeper goes off, so she takes off. After she's gone, Abe tells Lexi things didn't go well at the police station. He shares Mariano's proposal, and Lexi is shocked. He's not getting her vote! They laugh and Scott Gamson, a board member, arrives. Lexi makes introductions and Scott finds out Abe's no longer commissioner and wants to talk with Abe about something, so Lexi leaves them alone, and Scott asks a favor.

At the hospital, Scott says that he can't stand Mayor Mariano and asks Abe to run for Mayor! "Would you rather have two more years of that joker," asks Scott, when Abe balks at the idea. Abe raises his eyebrows. "Exactly," says Scott, and then he has to leave. When Lexi arrives, he tells her what happened.

What happened to the Cat in the Hat?

Tuesday, September 23 2008

Bo and Roman go to Abe and tell him about some theft that has happened downtown. Roman and Bo want Abe to try to get his job back but Abe's not interested, but has the perfect person to replace him. Roman! "No way partner," says Roman. Mayor Mariano won't accept it. Abe counters that the Mayor won't veto a city council decision. If Roman gets the majority - he's in. Bo agrees, but Roman likes things the way they are. The paperwork alone would drive him crazy. Abe laughs. That's no reason to back away from a challenge. Roman is a realist. It's not in him to deal with City Hall and bureaucracy, day in and day out! Abe says that's fine, and grins and looks at Bo. "No way, not going to happen," he says. He has the best record of arrests and convictions, says Abe, but Bo says he also likes to bend the rules and is known for it. Roman has to leave for the office and Bo stays behind. Abe tries pleading with him once again, but Bo thinks Abe's beating a dead horse and can't order him around, since he's no longer commissioner. Bo's flattered but it's not going to happen. They need another candidate.

Roman calls Bo. The Mayor has announced Abe's successor and Bo has to get down to the station to listen to the announcement. He takes off and on the way out, Lexi arrives. She already heard and says Hope's on her way down. Lexi asks Abe how he feels about someone taking over his job. "Depends on who it is," says Abe. They turn on the television to watch the press conference.

Mayor Mariano would have liked Roman to take the job but since he hasn't, he asks how Roman feels about the new candidate. Roman is satisfied with it.

Hope and Bo meet outside Roman's office and Josie Jordan announces the Mayor. They have a press conference to announce the new commissioner. Hope Williams Brady. Hope looks astounded. Lexi clicks off the television. "Hope didn't even mention this." She realizes Abe knew about this. Abe admits he suggested Hope but had no time to warn her.

Pulling the Strings.

Friday, September 19 2008

Abe sits outside his home, contemplating. He goes inside and puts on a front that he's fine, to Theo and Kelsey, Theo's (therapist?). Abe pays Kelsey and tells her he'll get back to her about working with Theo next week. She gives him a letter of evaluation from Mark, Theo's therapist, and Abe is proud, when he reads the evaluation!

Abe and Theo continue to play with blocks and Abe mentions Lexi. Theo says "Mommy". Lexi arrives and Abe shows her how well Theo is doing. Lexi is thrilled that Theo is matching blocks and colors. When she reads Theo's evaluation, she's pleased with his progress. She explains that she needed this today, and shares her resignation news with Abe. He's startled and wished he knew her decision ahead of time. He admits he resigned, as well, because the Mayor was looking for a scapegoat. "And you volunteered," she asks. "We had words. I got upset…" he replies, but is already fielding offers from consulting firms. He can't work in a corrupted system. "Stefano has been pulling the strings for far too long, and it's about time somebody stopped him!" Lexi wants Abe's attention on Theo, not Stefano, but that's why Abe is doing this. Theo interrupts them by saying, "Choo Choo!" Their anger turns to pride, and they snuggle close to their son.

Ducks In a Row!

Wednesday, September 17 2008

Lexi greets Abe at the door as he arrives home. They discuss Theo, and she says he's fine, but he wouldn't let her play with him. Abe then asks how she is doing. "Is there something you want to tell me?" She tells Abe about running into Theo's little friend in the pub and Theo not responding. She said the comparison between the kids upset her. Abe reassures her that wanting her kid to be like others doesn't make her a bad mother. They discuss recent progress in the field of Autism and agree to keep working to help their son. Lexi says she's hoping for a miracle. Abe asks her about her performance review. "Are you sure they're not blaming you for the lock down?" Lexi says they're not, and Abe says it was all Stefano - he'd like to tear him limb from limb! Lexi then mentions that her father invited them to a cocktail party tonight! Abe notes that it could be another one of Stefano's tricks - he thinks they should go! Lexi is angry - she wants nothing more to do with her father. She tears up the invitation and goes in to check on Theo. When she returns, Abe tells her that he is very proud - she always makes Theo her first priority. Just as they're sharing a bottle of wine and cuddling, Lexi gets a call confirming her appearance before the Board the next morning. He wonders if they'd actually fire her, and even suggests that she quit if she wants to - Theo needs her more than the hospital does!
