Back at Salem PD, Roman tells Abe that Ava's arraignment went fine, but she refused bail. When Abe tells Ava that Dr. Nusbaum was found dead, Ava's not surprised and assumes her father killed him.
Difference Between a Crock Pot and a Flower Pot.
In Ava's room, Kayla, Lexi, Abe and Steve show up with the results of Ava's drugs. Detoxing, and more than a little out of sorts, Ava thinks this is an invasion of her privacy. Kayla's Ava's doctor now, she explains. Ava wants Dr. Nusbaum and her pills but Kayla refuses and tells her the pills are making her worse. Lexi says, "They cause anxiety, paranoia and mood swings. It's anti-seizure medication and in Ava's case, it's potentially dangerous." Ava doesn't believe this. Steve asks if she knows a reason why Dr. Nusbaum wouldn't want her to get better. Ava admits that something happened that she can't remember. She apologizes for letting Steve down and Lexi asks everyone to leave, so they can calm Ava down. Ava starts screaming.
Outside Ava's room, Kayla says in spite of everything, she wants Ava to recover. They'll talk to her later and perhaps her memory will improve. Steve thinks there is a lot that Ava wants to share. Abe is surprised that Kayla cares but Kayla's a doctor and she doesn't believe that Ava knew what she was taking. Steve agrees. Abe's not that forgiving! Kayla suggests that Abe check out Dr. Nusbaum. Steve and Abe leave and Lexi suggests to Kayla that she tell Steve "the news" about Ava, since he'll find out soon, anyway. Steve returns and Kayla tells Steve that Kayla tried to take her own life, after he left her at the altar. Steve is taken aback and Kayla admits she knew he'd blame himself so she kept it from him. Steve weeps and asks if he can see Ava - with Kayla.
Steve and Kayla go into Ava's room, where she is calmer, yet confused about where she is. Kayla tells her she's in a hospital. Ava is surprised that Kayla is helping her, considering everything that she did to Kayla and her family. Steve reminds her that the drugs were the cause.
Outside Ava's room, Kayla tells Abe and Lexi that Ava's resting. Lexi knows Ava's got a tough road ahead of her with the detox. Abe takes a call and tells Lexi that there was a body found behind the alley at the Cheatin' Heart. He leaves.
Kate arrives back at the scene of the crime after getting lunch for Chelsea. Abe tells her she shouldn't be here and has an officer escort her to her car. Lexi calls and tells him it's his turn to pick up Theo, and he's late. Abe explains that the death was a professional hit, so Lexi agrees to get the sitter to keep Theo longer.
Take Care of Them, Daddy. Kill Them. Kill Them all…
Abe and Lexi arrive at the pub and sit at a table nearby. Abe enjoyed dinner last night but they admit their sadness that they were both so tired last night and Lexi now has to be quick, since Chelsea's on her way home from the hospital today and she needs to be there. Lexi thinks that for this week they should put their special morning on hold but Abe thinks his work can wait and talks Lexi into sticking to their special mornings. Lexi feels like things are forced between them but Abe reminds her of their busy schedules. When Lexi suggests counseling, Abe agrees. "I don't want to lose you," he says. They take off to the hospital, where Abe wants to speak with Ava.
Abe and Steve leave Ava's room and Steve tells Abe that death and destruction follows Vitali. Abe replies that nobody will get away with this while he's in Salem but Steve can't help but think jail is not a good place for Ava. Kayla and Lexi arrive and Kayla tells them that they're not going to believe what type of pills Ava has been taking!
Tony Wants to Make Kate the next Martha Stewart?
At Salem PD, Abe takes a call from the DA and says they don't have enough evidence to press charges against Paul Hollingsworth and the investigation is pending. Lexi arrives and is in need of a friendly ear. She tells him about Chelsea's inability to have kids and how upset it has made her. Abe thinks she needs a breather - a dinner date with him! They start their date with a lingering kiss.
Anna bumps into Tony at a nearby table and his laptop falls. He calls her a klutz and she stomps off. Tony finds her and apologizes. He didn't know that she was the klutz - he didn't look up before he made the comment! Anna is shocked that Tony's not acting like his pompous self and he explains that his mind is elsewhere. He's concerned about Kate because of Chelsea. Anna feels for her - Caroline filled her in. Before Tony goes to Kate, Anna asks point blank if something is going on between he and Kate. Tony asks her to give him credit. "I love you and only you," he tells her and she admits she knows he loves her. They move closer to each other and Tony kisses her! Anna says she can't help but worry. Kate is a powerful and beautiful woman. Tony says that's nonsense. He loves her - not Kate!
Nearby, Kate thinks she has a right to know why Daniel's off her granddaughter's case. He tells her to give Chelsea support and never mind why he's not on the case. Kate starts to worry but Daniel says ethically, his hands are tied. She notices he's as concerned as she is and calls herself nuts when it comes to family! Dr. Daniel continues to drink and flashes back to his discussion with Lexi about losing objectivity and becoming emotionally involved where Chelsea is concerned. He orders another drink!
At Tony's table, Kate arrives and Tony tells Anna that Kate's in his commercial. He wants to make Kate the next Martha Stewart. Anna laughs and Kate explains she was surprised at first as well but she's intrigued now. She decides she's had enough and gives them time alone.
At the pub, Lexi loves her new job but she and Abe agree they need to make time for each other and for Theo. Abe leaves and Kate arrives and discusses her conversation with Daniel. She asks what's up but Lexi says nothing. Kate wonders why Daniel took himself off Chelsea's case and Lexi admits that between them two, Daniel was becoming too emotionally involved.
Anna admits to Tony that she's working for John Black. She says it is top secret and she can't discuss it with competition. Tony thinks it's silly but Anna says they can discuss it over dinner. Kate arrives and tells him she's ready for their dinner meeting. She tells Anna it was the only time she wasn't busy and Tony apologizes that he can't take her but he'll meet her at her hotel later. She refuses. She has a lot of business calls to make, and makes a call to information. "I know the time," she spits, into the phone as Tony and Kate leave the pub!
Boxers or Briefs?
At Salem PD, Philip thanks Abe for getting the Austrian Consulate to drop all charges against Chloe, who is now on a plane to Switzerland to reunite with Brady. Roman comes out of his office and he and Abe discuss the Vitali case momentarily and then Phil tells Roman that Victor framed Chloe for Brady's disappearance and he wants to stop her from pressing charges. Abe tells him there is no proof of liability and Brady refuses to press charges so they won't either.
At Salem PD, Abe tells Mr. Hollingsworth and Morgan that they've enough evidence to get him on Graft and want to cut him a deal. They'll drop charges if he fingers John Black!
The Morals of a Groundhog!
Ava is escorted into the Salem PD. She threatens them to wait until her father finds out what's going on. Abe takes a call and tells everyone that Stephanie has vanished from the bar and Max is looking for her. Abe tells Bo and Hope about Chelsea's post operative infection and they head over to University Hospital.
