The Fraud Continues!

Outside the Brady Pub, EJ tells a man that he wants the remaining money wired before the foreign markets close. The man says he doesn't take orders from anyone but Stefano. EJ angrily sets him straight and the man says, "Yes sir," and leaves. Brady comes out of the shadows and asks EJ if that was business as usual. EJ wonders how it's any of his concern, and Brady says that he is looking out for his friend Nicole. EJ tells Brady that he plays a minor role in her life. Brady taunts EJ by insinuating he's like Stefano. EJ says he's an ex-junkie who shouldn't pass judgment. Brady says Nicole should know what EJ is really about.

Back outside of the Brady Pub, EJ tells Brady that Nicole knows exactly who he is! Suddenly, Brady gets a call from Nicole. She says she needs to see him right now! Brady tells EJ he's got to handle this.

Inside the pub, Chloe tells Lucas that she hates going to the Kiriakis house - she always worries she's going to bump into the hostile Victor. Just then, EJ walks in. He winds up announcing that he and Nicole are engaged. Chloe leaves the table, saying she's got to phone Nicole! EJ tells Lucas that he got in touch with Samantha and told her he was moving on with Nicole. Lucas asks why he would want to know that information! EJ says that Lucas is the father of two of Sami's children and had a right to know. Lucas asserts that he is not interested - he, too, has moved on!

Still in the pub, EJ is on a business call when Stefano beeps in. He asks EJ to come to the hospital right away - it's Theo! EJ says he's on his way.

EJ meets with Stefano at a payphone inside the hospital. He tells his father he took care of an overseas problem, and Stefano says they now have another issue with an associate in Central America. EJ promises to take care of it!

Wrapped.

EJ comes to Nicole’s room and asks why she didn’t tell him that her car broke down. She says that when he proposed, everything else flew out of her head. EJ thinks she’s leaving something out and asks for her complete honesty. Nicole appears nervous as EJ asks her to take a walk to talk, privately.

EJ and Nicole wind up at the pier and EJ asks for a true explanation. Nicole says he makes it sound like a conspiracy. She twists the diamond ring and says, “Fine, I’ll tell you and I should probably give you back your ring.” She says she is no fragile flower who needs taken care of and EJ apologizes. He asks her to please put the ring back on her finger, where it belongs! In spite of her independence, which he admires, she doesn’t need to tough it out without him. He’ll always want to make everything okay for her. Nicole flashes back to losing her daughter and wishes he could make it right. EJ thinks nothing is that bad if you face it together. He asks her to forgive him for being so controlling. They start kissing and end up on the bench, where they topple over EJ’s briefcase, causing papers to spill out and Nicole to find a prenuptial agreement. She’s hurt, but EJ explains that Stefano wanted this. Not him. He shreds it in front of her and plans to share everything with her. Nicole is relieved and they profess their love for each other.

Voicemail Hell.

At the DiMera mansion, Brady knocks on the door, and EJ answers. EJ tells Brady that there is no party, and wonders sarcastically if Nicole told Brady about the party being canceled. Brady says he hasn't heard a thing about it. Brady asks why she took off on New Year's Eve. EJ says that it was probably his (EJ's) fault that she left. The phone rings, and Dr. Baker is asking for Nicole. EJ tells him that he can leave a message for Nicole, and Dr. Baker says that he is just returning her call, since she called 'about 30 times'. He hangs up before EJ can find out what the call was about. Brady leaves, and wishes EJ good luck in finding Nicole. Outside, Brady wonders why Dr. Baker is calling Nicole.

At the DiMera mansion, Nicole comes in and tells EJ how much she loves him and how much she wants to have a family with him. She says that she can't keep going on with this and she has to tell him the truth. He says that he already knows the truth. He says that he's taken her love for granted, and says that he's been very insensitive, though he still keeps referring to their baby… He thinks that she's pregnant still. EJ gets down on his knees and asks her to marry him, holding out a big ring. She enthusiastically agrees and they kiss.

Happy New Year!

At the DiMera mansion, EJ yells, “Where the hell is Nicole,” at the phone. Tony walks in and asks what’s going on. EJ tells him that he was going to propose to Nicole tonight, but he has to take a video call at the office and he won’t be here to greet Nicole. Tony offers to take the conference call for him but EJ refuses because he doesn’t want Stefano to think that he’s shifting his responsibilities. Tony wonders how coincidental it is that things are this urgent and suggests that Stefano is distracting EJ from Nicole with business. EJ says if Stefano is trying to take control, that doesn’t mean he’ll succeed. Tony once again offers to take the call but EJ refuses. Tony gets ready to leave saying, “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” EJ insists it’s just a business call but Tony condescendingly says to keep telling himself that.
