Later, Tony and Anna are still outside the living room door. Anna yawns, "Do we really have to stand out here listening to Kate talk about herself all night?!" Tony says Kate is their friend - they have to find a way to thwart Stefano's plan. Anna says she has an idea. "Come with me!" Inside, Kate and Stefano continue to make small talk when Anna and Tony appear wearing aprons! They tell Stefano that the cook threw his back out and they are filling in! Stefano realizes that they aren't going to be left alone. He apologizes to Kate for the idiotic antics and Kate smiles, "Not at all! I'm going to enjoy having Anna wait on me hand-and-foot!" Once they have served the food, Anna says it's time for the entertainment. Stefano announces that he's had enough - he and Kate have important business to discuss. Tony and Anna leave, but continue to listen outside the door. Stefano and Kate share a laugh before getting down to business. Stefano says he has a proposal. He thinks the two of them should get married! Outside the door, Tony and Anna's jaws drop! Kate is speechless. Stefano presses her to accept his proposal. Finally, Kate asks him where this is coming from. He says he realized that one of the things he wants out of life is her! She asks if he's in love with her. He says that for whatever time he has left on this Earth, he wants her by his side. She says Marlena was always his Queen. He says he's not done with Marlena yet - he's got his own special plans for her!
Tony meets with Kate inside the pub and tells her that he has moved back into the DiMera Mansion to take a stand. She asks what Anna thinks. Anna and Lexi appear. "Anna is against it!" Kate excuses herself, as does Anna, and Lexi and Tony begin to chat. She warns him not to go against their father. "This isn't good." Tony mentions that Stefano is doing renovations - probably rebuilding the laboratory. Lexi is upset, but Tony notes that EJ got an injunction for now. Tony presses her to understand why it is imperative for him to stay in the Mansion. Lexi doesn't like it. "You need to walk away now!" Tony says he has to stay to fight for a new legacy. Lexi wishes him luck. "You do realize that Father could annihilate you?!" Anna is speaking with Morgan who tells her of her troubles regarding Paul. She then says she needs a job. Anna notes that she might have something for her with one of their clients! Anna then notices Kate nearby, coughing loudly! She wants to take her to the hospital. Kate tells her if it doesn't go away in a few days she'll go to a doctor.
At the DiMera Mansion, there appears to be major construction going on. Tony seeks out Stefano who quite happily informs him that there is some reconstruction under way - a fresh start! A worker comes in with a giant portrait of Stefano and Tony looks beleaguered. Stefano remarks that he just wishes he could evict the freeloading tenants! E.J. walks in. "Sorry Father, that's not about to happen!" E.J. presents him with an injunction. "Neither Tony or I are going anywhere." E.J. informs him that they are reclaiming their birthright - the one he is destroying! Stefano laughs that the DiMera legacy is in very good hands. They want to know what he means by that, but Stefano is not forthcoming. When Stefano comments that he rules this family, E.J. retorts, Not anymore, you don't!" As Tony backs him up, Stefano expresses disgust in them. They need each other to function! Stefano asks to speak to Tony alone, telling him that they used to be of one mind. Tony says he has no intention of revisiting that time in his life! Tony says Stefano has taught him what not to be! Stefano shakes his head. Stefano takes Tony's words as a threat, and Tony walks out.
At the DiMera Mansion, E.J. walks in to see Stefano after Tony has left. Stefano says things are different with the two of them, but E.J. disagrees. "Whatever Tony said to you, goes double for me!" Stefano says he is so disappointed in him - of all his children, he is the one he felt closest to! E.J. notes that he kicked him out. E.J. likens Stefano to the devil, calling him a 'master of manipulation'. Stefano muses, "I guess I know where you stand." E.J. says he'll get everything he wants without Stefano's help! Stefano calls Tony into the room. He tells his sons to imagine the three of them working together - the possibilities are unlimited! He asks for their unwavering loyalty. Both of them decline. Stefano says, "You turn your back on me, on this family, and it's over! No more chances! You want to throw all that away?!" Tony answers, "Yes, we do Father." E.J. leaves and Stefano tells Tony that family has always been the most important thing to him - it's a shame he doesn't feel the same way. Tony leaves, and Stefano throws a family photo album in the trash!
At the DiMera Mansion, Stefano ruminates about how wonderful it is to be home. He asks 'Elvis' if he is working for John. E.J. confirms it, and Stefano notes that John's world is about to come down. E.J. then asks, "So how did you do it, Father? One minute you're being led out of here in handcuffs, the next, you're running around like nothing happened!" Stefano says it's due to his friends. He then tells them that they are all disowned because they shipped him off to a home and didn't take care of him! Suddenly, Lucas and Chloe enter the house. Lucas explains that he lives there, and Stefano hollers, "What the hell is John running here? A hotel?!" Lucas says he's moving out and heads upstairs to pack. Just then, the doorbell rings. Stefano rolls his eyes and asks Tony to get it. It's Victor. He and Stefano greet each other and Stefano asks E.J. and Tony to give them some privacy. Victor asks Stefano if he is here to stay this time. "Never thought I'd say this, but it's a pleasure doing business with you, again." They chuckle over how it's just like old times! Victor thanks Stefano for telling him that John was hiding Paul and that he escaped. Stefano says he will ask a favor in return someday. Victor then asks why Stefano would go out on a limb for John. Stefano says the move was all about control.
Lucas comes downstairs at the DiMera Mansion and tells E.J. that as soon as he wins custody he's taking his daughter out of this pit of human degradation. Stefano applauds. "More good news." Lucas and Chloe leave. Stefano says, "That's one down!" He then tells Tony and E.J. that they should do the same. Tony says he's not going anywhere and E.J. says that he and Sami and the twins are quite comfortable. Stefano replies, "We'll see." Tony says he and E.J. have every right to be there. Stefano notes that he is challenging him. Stefano then turns to the subject of John Black being in control of his holdings. Tony says he can be dealt with, and Stefano counters that the two of them don't know what they're doing either! E.J. says he's wrong, and Stefano laughs. He raises a toast. "Here's to my sons! Bring it on!"
At the DiMera Mansion, Tony asks Stefano how he lives with himself. Stefano sighs laboriously, "What now, Anthony?" Tony asks how he could do what he did at the hospital. Stefano says he was out of his coma and gone before any of that happened. E.J. says they're having a hard time believing that he isn't behind it. Stefano claims he's innocent - and he dares them to prove otherwise! Stefano tells them he is back, he is free, and from now on he is the one calling the shots around there. "Any questions?"
Steve goes to Hope at Salem PD to ask if there is anything for him. He's looking for a lead on Hollingsworth. Talk switches to Bo. The investigation has them both losing sleep. Steve offers to help but he already is, she reassures him. Finding Paul would help everyone except for John, of course. Hope receives a call. "Paul has been spotted," she tells Steve, as she rushes off.
Over the phone, Stefano tells Tony that he's moving back into the mansion. Tony's surprised and says it's impossible to reclaim what's his. Bo arrives at the mansion and a weakened looking Marlena tells him Stefano is on the phone. After Stefano wonders why nobody is rejoicing at finding out he's returning to the mansion, Bo picks up and talks with him. Stefano will see them all soon, he promises and hangs up. Bo's there to talk about Hollingsworth. Marlena asks John not to let Stefano come to the mansion. John won't let him, after what they shared in her office! Bo tells John that he could face murder charges but John hasn't been accused of anything. He wants Bo to focus on keeping Stefano away from them and asks EJ to find out if the house and contents are legally his. Stefano's arrival interrupts them. "This house is mine and it's good to be back." Bo grins and arrests Stefano, and John tells Stefano to enjoy his new home, the state prison!
Back at the mansion, Marlena continues to feel weak. Anna takes her upstairs to rest and EJ tells John that he's not sure what rights Stefano has to his house. "I'm not running a bed and breakfast, so I want everyone out, except for Blondie." Tony refuses to leave the mansion and he and John argue. EJ interrupts and tells him it's impossible to predict what's going to happen. Tony says all bets are off, but if Stefano remains in prison, EJ says the mansion will be up for grabs.
Marlena prepares to leave the mansion when Stefano arrives and tells her they've unfinished business to attend to. He pours a drink and thanks the family for rushing down to the station. "Ingrates," he barks. He calls Tony a disloyal fool, EJ a pompous idiot, and John, a dishonorable bastard," then shouts at them to leave his house. John takes a call from Roman, who wants John at the station, since Paul Hollingsworth turned himself in. John is angered by this and yells, "Damn this day!"
