Kayla, Steve, Stephanie, and the baby arrive at the pub. Steve asks why Stephanie doesn't seem happy. Just then, Max appears with Chelsea. He says that Stephanie isn't happy because Philip's not there! Max makes some sarcastic remarks about being surprised that Stephanie isn't spending the holiday with Philip. As they get into it, Melanie walks in. Stephanie points to her, saying Melanie's the reason that she has 'moved on'! Stephanie walks away. Chelsea tells Max that she's sorry. Max and Melanie talk, and he notes that it must be hard for her to have her first Christmas without Trent. She says that it was the only time he acted like a father. She and Max joke a bit, but when she brings up Stephanie he won't discuss it. Max goes to check on some food and Melanie wanders over to where Stephanie and Chelsea are wrapping gifts. Melanie blurts out that Stephanie isn't the only one who's moved on - Max has too - with Chelsea! After Melanie walks away, Steph asks Chelsea if it's true. Chelsea says they're just friends - she's been comforting him. Stephanie is visibly shaken by the idea, and Chelsea says if something was going on between them, she would tell her. Stephanie replies that she would definitely have a problem with that!
Julie and Doug arrive at the hospital. Julie acknowledges to Maggie that it will be a difficult Christmas for her in light of everything that has happened with Nick. Just then, Stefano walks in. Julie expresses her disgust! Stefano asks her if there is a problem - she tells him his charity is not welcome at the hospital! He reminds her that charity starts at home - and he feels very much at home there seeing as he owns a lot of stock. Doug tells him no one wants him there - he should move on! Steve, Kayla and family arrive, as do others, and Steve tells Stefano to get out or he'll throw him out!
Lexi and family arrive at the hospital in time to witness Steve threatening Stefano, and Stefano warning that he won't make his substantial donation to the hospital. Lexi tells Steve she'll handle it, then asks Stefano to go. Stefano agrees - if that's what she wants. They exchange curt 'Merry Christmases' and Stefano speaks to Theo. After he leaves, Abe says, "Crisis averted." Doug is in Santa gear by now, and the reading of the Christmas story commences.
Phillip arrives at the hospital and presents Kayla with a donation. She accepts it gratefully. Stephanie has also arrived and Philip hands her flowers, stands next to her, and kisses her on the cheek. Stephanie beams!
Christmasitus Stupiditus!
At the hospital, Hope asks Kayla how Bo is, and she surprises them by saying it's a serious case of 'Christmasitus Stupiditus"! Bo laughs caustically. Kayla says he has a mild concussion and should go home - he'll live! Hope follows Kayla out of the room. They compare notes on how ridiculous their men can be, and Hope admits to Kayla that she was so scared when Bo fell! Bo, meanwhile, gets a weird flash of a Christmas star on top of a present with a tag reading 'Grandma Caroline.'
Enthusiastic, Energetic, Nice Looking....
At Titan, Philip calls Billie and tells her not to send flowers until Kate’s immune system is regained. Philip discusses the presentation tomorrow and asks Stephanie to train Melanie to take Maria’s place for the meeting. Philip goes to his office and Stephanie says they’ve a lot of work to do, but before they can start, Melanie wants Stephanie to know that she doesn’t take orders from her! Philip returns and asks for the notes on the alternative fuel source of Nick’s. They’re in the archives, claims Melanie, and she asks when they’ll be paid. In a month, says Philip, much to Melanie’s chagrin. When Kayla arrives and drops Stephanie’s wallet on Melanie’s desk, saying Steph forgot it at home, Melanie eyes it. Philip discusses Kate with Kayla, who promises to let him know if things get worse and he needs to fly the family in. Stephanie goes out for coffee with her mother while Sasha drops by and asks Mel about her first day.
Melanie makes a crack that her help left to get coffee with her mommy, and it’s overheard by Philip who reminds Melanie that Stephanie’s an unpaid intern and does a lot of work for Titan.
Stephanie and Kayla take a walk and when Kayla asks why Stephanie didn’t mention that Melanie was working there, Stephanie shrugs it off.
When Marlena goes into the office and finds Charlotte there, and hears they’ll be sharing a waiting room, Marlena doesn’t appear happy. When John arrives and Marlena realizes that Charlotte has started taking patients already, she is surprised. After John and Charlotte go into her office, Marlena has a difficult time concentrating on talking to the assistant, Cynthia, when she hears John and Charlotte laughing it up in there. Later, Marlena smiles when she learns from him that he’s returning for therapy. Later, Kayla finds herself at Marlena’s office and Kayla apologizes for not letting Marlena know sooner, that Dr. Taylor was moving in today. She had a detour on her way to work. Kayla can tell something’s bothering Marlena. Marlena says John’s in therapy and she’s thrilled. Sadly, the doctor she recommended has passed on, but he’s seeing Dr. Taylor. Kayla is surprised and asks if there is a problem. Marlena can’t put her finger on what the problem is. She says Charlotte is enthusiastic, energetic, nice looking… Kayla asks if Marlena’s jealous. Marlena stumbles over her words but denies it and calls John ingratiating to woman and finds it demeaning. Marlena realizes she feels jealous because she’s not the one caring for John, but Kayla says he’s with a qualified professional. Marlena still loves John and Kayla tells her not to give up on that. Marlena wonders if the issue is physiological. Kayla is sure Dr. Taylor will send him to somebody else. Marlena is frustrated that she can’t help him herself!
I Know What I Want for Christmas!
Stephanie brings hot chocolate and coffee to her parents, and overreacts when she drops one. Steve asks what’s going on and Stephanie explains that Kate went back to the hospital as her cancer has spread and she’s worried about Philip. She started to wonder how she’d feel if it happened to her and wanted to see them. They comfort her and Stephanie wishes she could do more for Philip.
Funerals are Overrated!
A distracted Marlena meets Kayla at the pub. She’s confused and thought John would be there with an older man. Kayla hasn’t seen him, and reminds Marlena that she’s John’s doctor. She should know any news about him, so Marlena tells her that John agreed to see an old colleague of hers. Marlena tells Kayla that John almost killed somebody at her place, but Kayla points out that he saved her life. Marlena thinks Dr. Taylor can help him.
