Wrapped.

Sami wakes up at the safe house, groaning. Each time she closes her eyes she sees EJ. She rushes to Rafe’s side as he wakes up in pain. He has a fever and she panics, wanting to call the ambulance, but Rafe refuses, so she gives him Tylenol and a sponge bath, much to his chagrin. She explains that she doesn’t want to be left there alone and that’s what will happen if something happens to him. She takes off his shirt and sponges him down and eventually his fever breaks! She caresses his face as he thanks her and they stare into each other’s eyes. Later, after Rafe has fallen asleep, Sami takes the cell phone from his hand.

Voicemail Hell.

At the safe house, Rafe tells Sami to get away from the window where she is watching fireworks. Sami gets angry and throws a glass. Rafe cleans it up, and Sami apologizes. Sami says that she thinks that Rafe must hate being stuck there with her, and Rafe says that he always volunteers to work on New Year's Eve. Rafe thinks that Sami is trying to pump him for personal information. She says she's not, but then says that she would like to know more about him. Rafe says that maybe they should get ready for bed, and they wish each other a good night. Before they go to sleep, Rafe says that he's not sorry that he's there with her. Sami tosses and turns, flashing back how Rafe had presented her with a gift from her father and her children. She can't sleep, and worries about her children.

A Woman Scorned!

Rafe and Sami continue to argue about Sami’s idea to give her baby up for adoption. Rafe asks Sami where she got the idea from and Sami admits she got it from him because of how he talked about Sister Agnes. Sami sighs that it would be a better place for her baby than with the DiMeras. Sami tries to make Rafe understand that she has a deadline and the police haven’t caught the hit man yet. Sami sighs that the situation isn’t getting easier and Rafe bluntly agrees. Rafe admits that he got rid of his cell phone for a new one, but they can’t be too careful with the killer out there still. Sami changes the subject to play cards. Rafe guiltily says that when he said the situation was getting old he didn’t mean that he can’t stand being with her, but he meant it for her own sake. Rafe admits that he wasn’t thrilled when he first got this assignment. Hesitating, he continues to say that he’s now protecting someone he’s grown to care about. Clearly touched, Sami hugs him and says that means a lot to her. Sami and Rafe play cards and Rafe asks her how she could even consider giving away her baby if she’s so torn about being away from her twins, but Sami says she already explained the danger with the DiMeras. Rafe wonders if the baby will be better off without her, and Sami says maybe. Rafe tries to convince her that the baby will not be better off at the orphanage. Sami reassures him that the orphanage would only be temporary. Rafe asks her what she’s going to do when someone asks who the father is, say it’s him? With a mischievous look, Sami says that’s not a bad idea. Rafe quickly dismisses that idea and says that it’s not who he is. He then asks her what she’s going to do if someone wants to adopt her baby. Sami says she’ll think of something. They continue to play cards, using cookies as poker chips. Sami reminds Rafe that she’ll eventually go into labor and he’ll have to take her to the hospital. Rafe assures her that he’ll have high security covering the hospital if it comes to that but he plans to have her out of there before she’s due. Rafe changes the subject to get more cookies and tells her to work on her poker face because he can read her like a book. Changing her expression, Sami says to herself, “That’s what you think.” Rafe returns with more cookies and admits that he’s impressed with her ability to tell him the truth about the baby. He asks Sami if she’s over her crazy plan to give up the baby and Sami reassures him that she is because she has no choice.

You're Fired!

Sami is looking at a paper that says 'Covenant of the Holy Cross', she hides it when Rafe comes out of the shower. He tells her it's her turn. When she goes into the washroom, he finds the paper. When she emerges from the washroom, he confronts her about having the church paper with Sister Theresa's phone number on it. He warns that one phone call is all it takes for the killer to trace her - he might be on his way there right now! Sami says she was going to call her, but she didn't! He warns she'll get killed and never see her kids again if she continues this reckless behavior! Rafe listens as Sami claims she was calling Sister Theresa to connect with someone at Christmas, then asks her to tell him the real reason she was going to make the call. Sami sighs and says she needed female support. Rafe shakes his head, saying, "You're up to something!" Suddenly, Rafe's boss calls. When he hangs up, he asks Sami if the reason she wants to talk to the Sister is because she is thinking of giving up her baby. Sami sighs, and asks if he thinks that convent would be a good place for her child.

As Rafe tells Sami, inside the safehouse, that he will not let her give up her baby, outside, the killer says, "Gotcha'," and raises his gun!

Santa's Surprise!

Rafe awakens Sami wearing a shaving cream beard and saying, "Ho, ho, ho!" Sami isn't in the spirit though, she says she misses her kids! He tells Sami he's going to give her a Mexican Christmas - he's making homemade tamales and everything! When he brings up his mother, she asks him to tell her about his family. He deflects her inquiries and says that they should open presents. They head over to the tree and Rafe opens his gift first. It's a special penny that Grandpa Shawn gave Sami for luck! Rafe is touched. Rafe says it's time for her gift, and is puzzled when he powers up the laptop! Sami is stunned to see Roman, the twins, Lucas, and EJ live on the screen. Sami sobs as she tells the kids her heart is with them. Roman guides the children away and EJ speaks to her.

'Tis the Season!

Sami overhears Rafe on the telephone giving Hilda the holidays off and offering to stay. "I don't mind at all," he says. Sami turns to leave the room, but faints. Rafe runs to her. She gasps, and says she thinks there is something wrong with the baby! Rafe gets on the phone with the doctor, who asks if the baby is still moving. The baby kicks. Rafe hangs up and tells her the doctor says the cramps are likely from stress. Rafe feels guilty for having let the killer see him - he feels he is the cause of her stress and should resign! Sami immediately says she won't let him! She admits she overheard him earlier and felt relieved he was staying. Rafe says he felt sentimental about Christmas, but now he'll call his friend. Sami doesn't want his friend - she wants him! They remember when they hated one another, and he agrees to stay. Suddenly Sami gets woozy again. She recovers, but starts talking about having doubts about keeping the baby a secret from EJ.

Bobble Head.

Sami wraps the children’s gifts and places them under the Christmas tree. Rafe tells her that he’s been thinking. “Hope you haven’t hurt yourself,” she jokes. Rafe tells her his identity has been compromised, so he needs to get her a new guard. Sami is visibly upset by this news but Rafe tells her this isn’t personal. Sami is concerned that since three’s a leak in the FBI, the next agent may not be trustworthy. When EJ’s name comes up in conversation, Rafe becomes uptight and doesn’t want to discuss him. He doesn’t want his guarding to go to waste. Sami appreciates all the effort he has gone through to protect her and promises to ensure she’ll stay out of trouble when she’s out of the program. Rafe notices a small present under the tree with his name on it and asks Sami about it. “Guess I wasn’t that naughty this year, after all!” Sami thinks she’ll have to give it to the next guard, since he won’t be there for Christmas, so Rafe says, “Maybe I’ll just have to stay, then.” Sami asks if he’ll have to see a doctor, eventually. She asks if his family is in Salem, and he shakes his head. She wonders how long he’ll be gone for Christmas. He says he’s got 66 vacation days saved up and they laugh. They share an awkward silence and Sami goes off to get ready for bed. She overhears Rafe make a call to his superior, telling them he’ll be staying with Sami for the holiday. Sami smiles before going into the bathroom, but once inside, slips and falls. Rafe runs in after her. “Are you okay?”

A Perfect Fit.

Rafe wakes up in pain. He says he needs to make a call to his superior to ensure it’s still safe to live at the safe house, since the witness protection program was breached. Sami wonders if it was Hilda but Rafe says if it was, Sami would already be dead. He tries to call Roman, but Sami grabs his phone. Later, he calls and is told to stay put. Sami is relieved and gets Rafe to relax on the sofa. She figures they’re safe. She agrees not to tell anyone about the stabbing and looks at the wound. He admits it hurts like hell. Sami laughs at how much alcohol Rafe consumed last night and how drunk he got. “You told me to stay away from EJ,” she says, and this upsets Rafe, who tells her that’s not for him to say. He apologizes but Sami’s happy to know Rafe cares about what happens to her. He says he’s supposed to and they discuss the Laughing Penguin. Sami admits she knew they were sold out. She felt bad. Rafe tries to get up and walk but winds up in more pain. Later, Rafe has showered and Sami’s glad he’s on the mend. Rafe thanks her for her help.

Christmasitus Stupiditus!

Hilda watches as Sami paces in the safe house, waiting for Rafe to return. Sami laments sending him on the errand for the penguins. Hilda points out that he was just giving her what he wanted so she would stop 'kvetching'! Sami protests that she doesn't 'kvetch'. Hilda notes that he may have stopped for a beer on the way back. Sami gets to complaining that she knows nothing about Rafe's life. Hilda teases her for being curious! Rafe comes in and declares that he got the penguins. Hilda notices he's acting strange and asks if he's okay. Rafe says he is, and Hilda leaves. Rafe says he's heading to the shower, and Sami notices that he's bleeding! They open his shirt and Sami exclaims that he's been stabbed. He admits a guy attacked him, but tells Sami she can't call an ambulance - whoever it was, knew who he was! Sami panics asking if he got a look at him, and if he thinks he followed him. Rafe says 'no', and tells her that she has to stitch the wound up! She warns that she hates needles and may pass out, but he tells her she's tough. Rafe starts drinking from a bottle of whiskey, then pours some on the wound. Sami frets that she has never sewn anything, but he tells her to get on with it - or they're both going to be dead!
