As Roman listens, EJ calls Sami to say goodbye. He hates to do this on the phone but explains that he hopes to have a long future with Nicole. Sami asks, “The rest of your lives?” EJ agrees and when Sami asks if he’s in love with her, EJ doesn’t answer. “I do…have feelings for Nicole.” She asks again and he says he loves Nicole and he’s calling because Stefano thinks he’s having issues connecting with Nicole and his child because of her. Sami talks about how she thinks Nicole trapped EJ and when he disagrees, she tells him that he can go back to his trashy girlfriend and tell her he got the green light. She thinks he has just ruined his life. She admits she cares and doesn’t want him living the rest of his life with Nicole or want her to raise her son. EJ says Nicole has changed and reminds Sami she had a tough life. “Nicole brings out the best in me. We’re very compatible…” he goes on and when Sami continues to call Nicole names, EJ reminds her that she played games with him and ran hot and cold. He’s not going to spend the rest of his life wondering why it didn’t work out with her. He’s moving on, but they’ll still be connected because of Johnny. Sami rants about Nicole some more but EJ doesn’t want to hear it and sadly tells her good luck and hangs up. EJ tells Roman he tried to do the right thing, but Roman knows it. After she hangs up, Sami throws the phone, busting it. She screams that EJ’s playing house with knocked up Barbie. She calls all men scum. “I assumed he was going to start using this head and realize what a skank Nicole is,” she yells. Rafe asks her to let them live their lives, but Sami screeches that they won’t live happily ever after. She’s going to make sure it doesn’t happen. Rafe says, “You’ve really got it bad for this guy.” Sami denies it, but Rafe doesn’t believe her. He wonders then why she cares if EJ moves on with Nicole. Sami realizes she has to find a way to get home. Rafe wonders if she means before the baby’s born or after?! Later, Rafe tells Sami he’s got her back. She admits she feels safe with him.
Roman tells somebody on the phone that the killer isn’t going to hurt his daughter. He’ll make sure of that.
Emotional Terrorist.
John and Marlena bump into each other at the police department. Marlena thinks it's difficult for him not to recognize his own son and she thought his response was dumb. He's surprised. She doesn't usually use words like that. John has no feelings for him but Marlena thinks they could help each other. He could help Brady with a rough time and Brady could help him with his own issues. Marlena says he's running away from Brady but John calls himself detached and refuses to fake emotion.
John goes into Roman's office and tells him he has hired private investigators to help find Sami's shooter. Roman's angry and thinks he's probably trying to convince Marlena that he's back to his old self, in order to get her back! He reminds John that Marlena divorced him for a reason and this won't work. John says Marlena's happy he's doing this, since it'll get her daughter back sooner. Roman asks him to think about his son while he thinks about his daughter! John thinks this isn't his business, and leaves.
Schmoozing Like a Pro!
Lexi, Abe, Bo and Hope are exuberant when Abe is named mayor, at the pub, but Tony notices that Roman looks troubled, he opens up to him about Stefano's part in the murder of Mariano. They wish Stefano would have stayed out of this election and Roman wonders if Abe will turn down the job.
Nearby, Evan asks Abe to make his speech. He thanks Lexi for putting up with him and says how honored he is to be the mayor of Salem, and accepts the position of mayor.
EJ makes a call from outside the pub, looking for Nicole, then goes into the pub and asks Bo for help. "Nicole's missing." They men go outside and EJ shares how Nicole was to be transferred to University hospital but she hasn’t been checked in under that name. Bo makes a call and finds out Nicole's in the jail infirmary.
Bo returns to the pub and explains what happened with EJ. Bo grins at Abe and says, "He's schmoozing like a pro!" Nearby, Roman congratulates Abe and admits he was concerned that Abe wouldn’t take the position. Abe admits he was conflicted and says it puts a damper on the celebrations knowing Stefano could have had a hand in Marino's death. He refuses to let anyone keep him from his civic duty. They stare at Bo and Abe says he plans to name Bo police commissioner. They'd like to finally get the upper hand on Stefano. Nearby, Lexi tells Hope that Abe wants to name the new police commissioner soon. The group gets together and congratulations are all around. Abe asks Bo to become the new police commissioner and Bo says he may need time to think about it, but laughs and says, "Why do you think I wore this damned tie?!" He's happy to be on board. Bo and Abe pose for photos and Tony says he finally feels as though Salem's in capable hands.
Acquired Taste!
Roman and Abe arrive at the mansion to discuss Marino with Stefano. Roman calls it a coincidence that Marino was shot on his doorstep, but Stefano says he's no fool. He paints a hypothetical picture of Lexi going to him to get him to kill Marino, at Abe's behest. If Alexandra had come to him with this request, Stefano wonders who the public would believe was innocent. Him or Abe, the man Marino was running against. Abe tells Stefano that Alexandra didn’t tell him to kill Marino, but Stefano points out that people will read between the lines! Abe is angry that Stefano would sell out his own daughter and Roman asks if he's blackmailing Abe. Stefano denies that and Abe asks him to be direct. "Did you put out a hit on the mayor?" Stefano sighs and says, "You don't really want me to answer that question." Abe is alarmed and calls to God while Roman promises to find out the truth. Stefano asks Roman to give his best to Samantha, "Wherever she is!" Stefano calls the democratic process very interesting and chuckles to himself as Roman and Abe leave. Later, Stefano looks at their picture and says he did back the right man after all. He cheers to Abraham. "Salute!"
Hope and a dapper Bo arrive at the Brady pub, with Bo griping about wearing fancy clothes.
Abe has returned to the pub and Lexi asks if he can forgive her for involving Stefano in their lives. Abe says she's not to blame. The blood is on his hands as he's the one to set it into motion. Lexi dries tears and Bo and Hope come to Abe and Lexi's side and Bo says he heard the election results are in! Later, Roman comes by and pokes fun at Bo and his tie. "Did Ma dress you," he asks and Evan eventually announces the mayor, who has won by a landslide - Abe! Everyone claps and cheers and Tony stands to the side, clapping but looks concerned.
Sleeping with a Killer!
Roman tells Sami that she's got to go into a witness protection program - without the kids. Sami worries, and Roman tells her facts. The kids will be in harm's way. Lucas reminds her they'll be at risk if they're around her, and Marlena promises the kids will be fine. Sami yells, wondering why Chloe's there. Roman says Sami's right. She doesn't need an audience around during this. EJ claps as Sami rants that her children need her. "Well done, Samantha, when you are right, you're right!" EJ thinks she'll be safe in Salem, but Roman reminds him that she was just shot at. EJ wants her to move into the mansion. Marlena gasps but EJ dismisses her. Marlena asks if she'll stay in the living room or the dungeon. Sami's eyes are still burning from what she witnessed on the sofa, she complains. Chloe thinks that Sami could use a change of pace, considering the way her life's going and Roman tells Chloe to shut up. Roman's got a friend at the FBI and gives him a call as Lucas tries to tell Sami to do the right thing and keep her kids safe. Sami feels her growing abdomen and whispers, "You're right." Everyone's confused as Sami says she's going into the program. EJ is angry, but Sami gets up to pack. EJ is still unconvinced but Sami asks him not to second guess her, and goes off to pack. EJ thinks there is something else going on and asks Lucas, but Lucas plays it cool. Later, they are alone as Sami packs and Lucas admits he hates to keep her secret. Sami cries about the situation, but Lucas comforts her. Roman will catch the shooter. Sami thinks she somehow deserves this for all her past mistakes but Lucas denies this. He also tells her he'll keep her pregnancy a secret. He wonders what she'll do for a doctor. She worries about that, about losing EJ, and leaving Johnny with Stefano and Nicole. Marlena goes to Sami to ask if she has anything to say to her before she goes. Sami shakes her head. EJ and Lucas take the babies to Sami, and Marlena tells her not to cry, or she'll upset them. Sami says goodbye to the children. Roman takes Sami aside and tells her she can't take a photo album with her because it'll tie her to her life there. Sami starts to cry, and isn't sure she can do this. Marlena has to leave, so says goodbye. When Allie feels Sami's abdomen, she says, "Baby." Sami looks caught, and EJ asks, "Baby?"
A Fly in the Baby Ointment!
Back at the cabin, EJ has pushed Sami to the floor. He tries to cover her, but she pushes him away and tries to cover her baby bump. EJ shouts that somebody is shooting at her and she panics. Later, Roman arrives with the police. The officers' cordon off the area and search for the shooter. Marlena and John arrive and Marlena comforts Sami, while John tries to figure out what happened. Since he isn't helpful, Marlena asks him to leave. Sami thinks the hit man knows she's a threat and he'll keep coming after her until he gets to her. After Roman makes a few calls, he tells Sami that he has arranged for an agent to guard her around the clock.
Lucas and Chloe arrive at the cabin and find Sami is shaken up but fine. Roman tells Sami she is going into a witness protection program.
Good Set of Pipes!
Sami, EJ, Nicole and Roman arrive at the Salem PD. Sami goes to Roman's office and calls Caroline. She leaves a message, asking if Caroline can take care of the twins for the evening. She gets a call on her cell, and a woman from Brookville Clinic calls. She asks if Dr. Sanders is there daily, and promises to call back with an appointment. Nicole walks in and asks what Sami needs to talk to Dr. Sanders about! "Finally getting that nose job," Nicole asks. Sami lies that Dr. Sanders is a pediatrician. They argue, and Nicole tells Sami that she is giving her kid a baby brother or sister. Nicole wants to set ground rules! She wants them to be one happy family, but Sami knows Nicole doesn't care about her son, or EJ. "All you care about is money." Nicole is prepared to leave, but tells Sami she's not noble. Sami wonders what Trent would say to EJ about the baby. Nicole is confused, but Sami calls her names and wonders if Trent would imply the baby isn't EJ's! Nicole reminds her that they have had a paternity test, and Trent's dead. Sami's surprised that Nicole would speak ill of the dead, and points out that she had no problem stepping over the body. "What am I supposed to do, cry and beat my chest?" Roman and EJ interrupt. EJ says his family had nothing to do with this, and Nicole vouches for him. They were making love! EJ thanks her and they are asked to leave, while Roman talks to Sami.
Outside Roman's office, Nicole wants to go to the hospital to be checked out. EJ gets his coat and stares at Sami, which upsets Nicole. She asks what's more important. A woman who doesn't want him or their unborn baby.
Sami tells Roman the whole story about the shooting. She says she'll never forget the man's face. Spencer, the police artist, arrives, to sketch a picture of the shooter. Outside, Nicole rants at EJ for wanting to say goodbye to Sami. EJ apologizes. Their baby comes first. They leave, while Sami works with the police artist, and Roman. The sketch artist gets a pretty good sketch done of the shooter and Sami says she'll never forget his face.
