Quote AlaNurse: I am having problems changing my Avi. I am very familiar to the procedure as I change mine almost weekly. This has been happening for several weeks. It just WILL NOT change, even when I use the same pics I have had on before. Once I had tried two different pics and about 3 days later one of the pics suddenly showed up on my post.. Wierd!!! Is anyone else having this problem??? There is something wrong with the system. As a matter of fact there's a whole thread in the lounge about this subject. I've been having trouble so now i'm leaving this one up for awhile till its fixed. Admin cant seem to see a problem with it they said to clear out history, cookies etc and to be sure the pic is the right size but i do that all the time. If you continue to have issues go let them know in the thread there so they see more people are having trouble. |

I have had trouble a few times. it usually takes 2 or 3 days to change and then on the profile board it doesn't show that it has changed. I wanted to change mind again this week, but I am waiting to see if they fix the problems before I do. |

Quote AlaNurse: Chrissi made this thread for everyone on this board. There are many OT subjects we can talk about. Your birthday's, anniversaries, newly married, new babies. What is on your mind????? People do care about each other here and can offer advice from their experiences. Prayers can be requested. Believe it or not, we lay aside our DOOL differences when a fellow poster needs encouragement. edited to say: for those who read my original post she took a pregnancy test and its negitive......thank God. I decided to erase my post and for good reason....carry on |

Believe it or not, we lay aside our DOOL differences when a fellow poster needs encouragement. what's on my mind....hmmmmm...lets see. i'm going bananas!! ha ha it's fire season for my hubby right now which means we don't see him alot in the summer months. the kids (we have a 2 year old son and a 3 year old daughter) are missing him tremendously and so am I. usually he's gone to work within an hour of the kids waking up and doesn't get home until well well into the night. what makes it so much harder this year than any of the other 10 years i've been with him and having to deal with this job is that we just moved to a new town (he got a promotion), and I know absolutely NOBODY here. i've gone to mommy groups and stuff to try and meet people, but i feel awkward cause everyone already knows everyone there and i'm the "newbie". so, right now it's just me and the kids. the weather is damn hot, which i can usually stand, but we've been getting thunderstorms like everynight which makes it muggy and I DO NOT take to humidity well AT ALL!!! plus, my daughter has started to get absolutely scared sh**less of the thunder. i try and tell her it's ok, and try and make it fun. when we see the flash i get excited and tell her to count until she hears the "clouds clapping"... but she already has it in her mind that it's big and bad and scary.. for the most part i'm a pretty energetic happy person, but the last couple weeks, i've been feeling tired, hot, sweaty, sticky, and a bit lonely. at least there's only a little over a month left of the REALLY busy fire season and then I can finally have my man back and the kids can really spend some much needed quality time with him. aaaaannnnnnddddd i'm rambling. i'm done. NEXT???? lol edited to add: I hate when you have the toaster on the lowest setting and the damn thing doesn't pop up and then your toast is charcoal and the smoke detector goes off and wakes your kids from their nap!!!! SH**!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

SH**!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! awwwww bmes you sound like such a nice person....if you lived in the Tampa Florida area i'd take you to lunch in a heartbeat....my advice is keep going to those mommy groups because one of them will extend themselves further because of your personality and you will just click and things will start rolling....i know the feeling of being the "newbie" because i've moved alot in my lifetime....thats the reason i refuse to move now, my husband would love to move back to Calif but i wont even consider it tho i love it there way more then here....i've been here for 20 years and have thick roots now so i'm not budging....anyway hang in there girl, hubby will be in your face before you know it and then you'll be saying FIRE! over there------------------------------> go put it out LOL kidding ps: stay on the boards we love you here! |

I'm dreading tonight. my poor little girl just cringes and shakes like a little leaf the second she sees the flash. it's like she's bracing herself for the thunder. I don't know what else to do to make her more comfortable. hopefully she'll grow out of it soon. :-( poor thing. thanks for the kind words. it lifted my spirits a bit. I remember when my boys were little and afraid of thunder and lightening. I always told them that it was the angels bowling and that seemed to help. My husband was a police officer and worked all kinds of odd shifts, so I can sympathize with you on having your husband gone a lot and the kids not seeing him much. I have been there, done that and it is rough!!! Luckily, we lived in our hometown, so my parents and his were here and that helped when things got rough, too. I empathize with your situation TOTALLY!!! |

HA HA!!! angels bowling eh?!?! that's a good one! i might have to try that one out. he he. thanks!!!! hey. a question. does anyone have some good tricks to get your toddlers to sit still while getting their hair cut? my daughter is 3 now, but i've never taken her to a salon. i would just cut her bangs myself and trim her hair. well during the winter i let it grow really long, and now with summer and it super super hot, she's just sweating ALL THE TIME being weighed down by this massive head of hair. btw...she refuses to wear her hair up in any way. no elastics, head bands, clips, barrettes...NOTHING...she hates her hair up, and as soon as i put it up, it gets pulled off!!!! so cutting her hair is a MUST!!! i think she'd feel much much better with a shorter cut. SO i don't wanna eff it up, so i made an appt for tomorrow to get it cut. but i'm afraid she's going to get nervous and freak out...yes...she's a sensitive soul... lol...any tips on how to keep her distracted/entertained/still???? |

The lady that does my children's hair use to have me sit in the chair and my little girl (who will soon be three) sit on my lap while she was cutting. I would usually talk to her, do her favorite songs or do something to keep her mind off of what was going on. Now, she's a big girl |

Happy to hear the hair cut went well. My son got his cut yesterday, too. His grandmother ( my mother-in-law) took him and she didn't cut it the way I wanted it!! Aghhh. I guess if I want it done right.. do it myself. Or, keep my mouth shut! |

Quote AlaNurse: I just had to hunt this thread and bring it back up because I just wanted to say, HOW MANY KATE THREADS DOES IT TAKE TO GET A POINT ACROSS??? Let's do some fun stuff on this thread. Any suggestions? Here is a fun family game you can play at home: My daughter, her two teenagers (14 & 18) and I made up this fun game called, "what's that smell?" Everyone is blindfolded except for one person. The person not blindfolded (of course haha)searches the kitchen or household supplies to find something with a smell. She/He takes the object to each blindfolded person's nose for a smell test. RULES: No one can give an answer until all have smelled the object. Do not try to touch the object. Don't cheat. They can have an extra smell or so if needed. Then they are asked "What's That Smell"? The first one who identifies the smell gets to go next. It has been a lot of fun. We do not use anthing that is nasty!!! My daughter has a nose like a bloodhound and usually wins. I'm not too good at the smells. It is really fun. Try it somestime. If you try it, let me know if you all liked it or had fun. Those kinds of games really are fun. Whether you want to admit it or not but guarantee you'll be LYAO. Here is what my brother and i used to do when we were little. One person was blindfolded and both of us in the kitchen, the blind folded one sitting and then we did a taste test. The one blind folded would have to open their mouth and the other would take whatever they wanted out of the frig and put in the others mouth.....like mustard, ketchup, majo, leftovers etc......it was so funny because i would always find something really gross to put in my brothers mouth but he being 4 years younger didnt have an evil bone in his body wouldnt think of that so i would get things like lettuce, cheese, turkey slices. LOL Also back when we were young (a million years ago) we would play with things that cost no money. Like the time my parents bought a new refrigerator and it came in a huge box my father somehow got it out of the box and took out all the staples and taped it up.....first my brother and i would play house in it and draw with crayons like the windows, flower boxes etc....when it got all banged up we would take it on the top of the hill and roll down....laughing hysterically the whole way down. |
