Looks like only a few of us don't have plans for the 4th....
We have a top of the line awesome fireworks display here on the Tenneesee River in Florence Al. at 9 pm tonight. We are in the NW corner of Alabama. I have seen it dozens of times on July 4th. I am babysitting my 6 month old great-grand baby so her mother can enjoy this weekend. What are the rest of you doing today?

well happy belated 4th of july to you. hope you had a great time. i'm in canada and we just celebrated canada day on the first. I live in a very very very small town(just moved here) so no fireworks here...lol...can't afford them...but there was a parade, live music, artisan show and a bbq...had a really great time. kids went bonkers over the parade...they'd never seen one before..lol...so yep...this weekend has been so so soooooooooooooo hot...yesterday i thought i was going to DIE...honestly...then at the end of the day i finally realized DUH, i'm like a block away from the river...i'm an IDIOT!!! ha ha...so i packed up the kids and we went down to the river to cool off....felt sooooooooo much better after...lol..i don't know why i never thought of it before. all week i've been BAKING, and I could have been hanging down at the river this whole time!!! BLEH!!! lol..

Quote bmes: it's so funny this came up, cause i was just going to post an off topic thread, and hoped nobody would get annoyed...lol..

i have a question for all the mom's out there. any tips on weaning a toddler off the soother/binky...whatever you call it. my son will be two in may, so i don't think that whole "binky fairy" will work with him.

should i just take it away? end of story, and endure the next week or so of hell? lol...

I never really had much of a problem with getting mine off the(pappy)binky. My problem came later. My daughter loved hers so much she kept it in her mouth almost all of the time. So much that she had raw places beside her mouth from drooling and the pappy rubbing the skin. We called it pappy chap . Anyway, I started taking it away a little bit during the day and getting her preoccupied so she wouldn't think about it. We did really fun stuff to take her mind off of it. Then I started getting her to play really hard so she would be so tired as to pass out and not even think about the pappy. It worked. She was off of it right around 2 years of age. My problem came when a little girl at daycare started sucking her thumb. So my daughter decided at 4 years old that she would try. With me not being there and no cooperation from the daycare workers she ended up sucking her thumb until she got braces at about 12 years old. Obviously, by then she only sucked it after she fell asleep because it was a habit and she didn't even know she was doing it. The braces were uncomfortable so she eventually stopped sucking her thumb altogether because of that.

Something funny my 2 yr old did:

I have a 2 1/2 yr old daughter named Skye, and although she is totally kickin butt with potty training she still has a slip up every now and then....
The other day i could tell she had to pee, but she kept tellin me she didnt, til all of a sudden she had an accident,.... She looked down at the puddle, looked up at me with a hesitant look, i gave her a frustrated look...and her she all of a sudden puts her hands outstretched to the left and right and her nervous innocent little voice says:

TAA DAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes its impossible to be mad at ur child, especially when they are quick witted to come up witha response like that to try and turn the situation around lol

Too cute! I have custody of my four-year-old twin neices and they are always saying things that make me laugh. One of them has a smart little mouth, although she doesn't realize quite what that means. They have always been told not to go in my bedroom or anyone elses and get into their things without asking first. Well, my daughter who is 17 always turns off her light and leaves the door open when she is not home, so if the door is closed or the light is on or both she is either home or someone has been in there. Well, the light was on and she was not home so I asked who went in there and one of them said "not me" and I looked at the other one (with the smart mouth) and she said, "um, did you see me go in there?" I couldn't help but turn my head (so she couldn't see) and laugh because she really wasn't trying to be disrespectful but was trying to outsmart me. She thought if I didn't see her go in there then I couldn't prove that it was her. LOL! Kids are so funny!

I thought both of your stories were priceless!

My granddaughter invited me and my daughter to visit the church where she had been taking 4 yearss old Amber and 5 month old Kodie.

Amber's mother had told her that they go to church to worship God. Me, my daughter Mandie and Amber were sitting together when 4 years old Amber leaned over to Mandie and whispered..Hey Mandie...".[Where's God....I didn't see him come in....????" She explained to her that we couldn't see him but He lived in out hearts. Mandie leaned over to me and told me what she said, and we got so tickled at her innocent question.

Those baby stories are really cute.. Now, let me share mine!!

My son is 6 years old. They stayed at their grandmother's house yesterday. She had all 4 grandkids and they can be pretty wild when they're all together. So, when I got home to pick them up I asked did they get in trouble? My mother said.. All day long. So, I asked my son what he did. He answer.. Ummmm, I can't remember ALL of it.

And, my 2 (almost year old daughter has a list of "bad words" she's not supposed to say, but yet she constantly repeats those bad words while she's saying you're not supposed to say them. So, this morning as I'm leaving she says.. Mom, I've got to tell you something. I said ok, what. She said don't say bad words in the car. I said ok, She said, ... Don't say shut-up, crap and who cut the cheese in the car. Ok, mom. I said ok. So, the 6 year old is a very good teacher!!

You try not to laugh sometimes, but it is so hard!! They're spoiled, but boy do I sure love them.

BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! oh these are great stories of the kiddies.

i'm going to add. kid's say the darndest things lol....

My 3 year old daughter ran into the corner of the patio table. there was blood i was freaking so we took her to the hospital. by the time we got there, the bleeding had stopped and there was the tiniest knick right at the edge of her eye. well i thought, we're already here, so might as well get her checked out anyways. finally see the doc, and he's trying to examine her and my daughter says to the doc "it's ok doctor. i'm just fine. chill out!!" then the after the doctor stopped laughing, he was righting in his book and my daughter blurts out "MY DADDY TAKES BIG DUMPS!!! AND SO DOES MOMMY!!!" well i just about DIED!! (and later that day reamed out my husband for using the word "dump")

my mil was nagging her hubby one day to "close the fu**ing door"...she was frustrated cause he ALWAYS forgets to close the door, and she was babysitting my two kids at the time and was afraid they'd run out if they saw the door open. so my daughter (2 at the time), kept calling doors, not just "doors", they were now called "fu**ing doors" for like 2 months she'd always say "open the fu**ing door" whenever we'd be leaving the house....OMG....i was so MAD at my mil. we just would ignore it kinda and not make a big deal outta her saying the f word. we'd just try and correct her and say "no honey it's open the door PLEASE!!" she grew out of it thank god!! lol...

one more: yesterday morning my daughter and son were eating their breakfast, and my daughter kept getting sidetracked yapping and laughing with her brother, while her pancakes are getting cold...so i said to her "honey, eat your breakfast". and she replies back "mom, you need to just calm down a little bit!!" oh geeze.

ahhhh kids eh?!?!?! ha ha

When I to school with my son to enroll him in Kindergarten, the guidance counselor introduced herself and what her role was, etc. Anyway, she made the statement that they promise that if we don't believe everything our children come home to tell us about their teacher, then they won't believe everything the children come to school to tell about their parents. Somedays I would love to be a fly on the wall just to hear what some of those kids will tell. Teacher's have to hear some really good stories.

I have had such a stressful week. Thanks for the kiddie stories, they have made my day.

I am having problems changing my Avi. I am very familiar to the procedure as I change mine almost weekly. This has been happening for several weeks. It just WILL NOT change, even when I use the same pics I have had on before. Once I had tried two different pics and about 3 days later one of the pics suddenly showed up on my post.. Wierd!!!

Is anyone else having this problem???

I haven't tried to change mine lately, but there were several threads in the lounge about people having trouble changing theirs so I think it is something going on w/the site.

Thanks to you both. At least I'm not the only one. I will notify Adm. BTW, the instructions you read about how to add an avitar is not what you see when you attempt to add an avitar. I will notify them about that also.
