It's time to let the 43 year old soap go! Executive Producer Ken Corday has already fired Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn! Without them, DAYS is dead! I think that NBC and Sony Pictures Television made a really bad choice in keeping Days of Our Lives on the air until September 2010. First of all, Ken Corday re-hires Dena Higley as Head Writer, who should have never been re-hired as Head Writer of the show, let alone write for the show at all. Her first tenure as Head Writer of DAYS was from March 7, 2003-August 8, 2003. The show has been bad for quite some time now and it is continuing to go down hill. In my opinion, the show should have been cancelled in March 2009 when its previous contract expires. VERY VERY SAD!!!!!!!!

I completely agree, diRN. It's not time to let the show go. What for???? The show could be great and has been great. I'm not letting go just because I'm upset over some decisions. I'll get over it. We all will.

A little perspective, here!!

I remember years ago when SB was canned and it had won many awards but had been in a funk for a year or two and tney cancelled it who knows if they could have made things better and Another world as well, I cried when thpse shws were over and now with Passions gone I can't lise anymore soaps! What will I watch?

The show has survived Deidra & Drake leaving before and it will again. Yes the show needs some tweaking but over all I believe it can and will get back to where it needs to be.

I'd rather they sold the show and it were picked up by a better company. I'd subscribe to a premium cable channel just to watch Days as it is meant to be. (You know, real writers, our favorite actors, different sets, etc)
I'm not old, I'm only 30, but have watched this show since before I started attending school. Yes, I remember when Marlena and John were off the show...it sorta sucked. I don't think they need to be the MAIN people of the show, I like when they give ample time to every character, but without them Days has no conscience that we can really believe. That's always been the magick of Marlena and John is her greatest proof of success.
I never want to see this show cancelled. I don't want to experience the slow and painful demise either though. :/
I'ma stick around for as long as I can but seriously, I think Ken Corday is shooting himself in the foot. Surely there's someone somewhere who would buy this show and offer it to us through premium.
Maybe some won't pay for it, but I think that the way today's entertainment is, the audiences are smaller, on account of the endless other options availible. Therefor relying on sponsor money is not reliable if you want to continue to deliver a quality program.
Just my thoughts on the subject at this point.

Over the years our favorite charactors have come and gone over and over and it's always painful. No matter how much I disagree with the direction the show is taking, how awful the storylines and writing are and the brainless decisions of TPTB I will continue to watch. Maybe I'm a masochist, or an eternal optimist just hoping for the show to return to the way it used to be. I guess all we can do now is wish Drake and Diedre well and hope that when Ken Corday comes to his senses that they'll be willing to come back.

i would hate to see days cancelled. it is the only show i have watched for this many years. nobody forces you to watch it.

It is time to allocate the 60 minutes each weekday to a new drama.... unfortunatley NBC has a horrible track record with new soaps.... Santa Barbara, Generations, Sunset Beach, Passions...

The cancellation of Another World was a huge blow to NBC daytime..... I would like to see a creative writing team be given the chance to create an historical soap.

I completely agree. Getting rid of Marlena and John should not be minimized. This is a very, very, very bad decision. If you want Days to continue you don't get rid of the best part of the show. Get rid of all the NEWBIES, why do we have Melanie and Sandra Ferguson (who I liked on Another World)coming in? Don't you think the show should work with what it has. Steve and Kayla and Bo and Hope have lousy storylines. Are they going to get rid of them? At least, John and Marlena's storyline was interesting. I know I won't be watching Days anymore when Marlena and John are gone and a lot of my family and friends won't. John and Marlena were the only reason why I watched. None of the stories other than the possible E.J. and Nicole story interested me. (After hearing that their going to recycle the Kristen fake pregnancy story with Nicole, I'm not so interested). It's a sinking ship. I agree getting rid of Marlena and John is delaying the inevitable and they might as well cancel it, because the ratings are going to tank. I noticed the shows ratings go up when John and Marlena are on the show. I don't think it's negativity, it's realistic. I hope John and Marlena get reunited on GH, now that I'll watch.

I love Days and I dont want to see it cancelled. Please dont watch it if you feel this way!!
