Who here thinks that the reason behind DAYS's sinking ratings is because of Executive Producer Ken Corday, and Head Writer Dena Higley? Let me just tell you that Ken Corday took over as Executive Producer of DAYS in 1985 when his mother, Betty Corday semi-retired. Corday assumed full control of the show in 1987 after his mother's death. It has been noted that ever since Ken Corday became the show's Executive Producer, DAYS has experienced a drastic decline in ratings and many viewers have tuned out. DAYS Head Writer Dena Higley doesn't exactly have a good reputation either. She previously served as a member of the DAYS writing staff from 1985-2004 and also as Head Writer of ABC's One Life to Live from 2004-2007, and here is what six-time Daytime Emmy Award-winning actress Erika Slezak has to say about Dena's writing: "Dena doesn't care about the rich history of the show, which is evident in what she writes," and that Higley "wants to write stories that she thinks are interesting but nobody else does." That right there tells me that she should NOT be writing for DAYS! Among other news, it was recently announced that long-time Y&R Executive Producer Edward Scott was relieved of his duties as Co-Executive Producer of DAYS and replaced by former Sunset Beach and One Life to Live Executive Producer, Gary Tomlin. Tomlin's work began airing on September 17, 2008. So what does this mean for the future of DAYS? I guess we will just have to wait and see! |

I know that days has renewed there contract til 2011. Imo i think the show has improved somewhat in the past few weeks. |

If there is a decline in ratings over the years it is most likely because they have the same s/l's over & over. those of us who have been watching for many years realize that when new people come on the show they will eventually have the same s/l as the vet actors once had. Maybe with a LITTLE twist, but not enough of a twist to make it much different. As newbies start watching they enjoy the played out s/l's, however had they seen every actor play this out already they wouldn't be loving it. All in due time they too will be sick of the same stuff over & over, newbies will start watching & replay... |

*sigh* I am torn on the future of Days. I have watched it since I was 8 years old believe it or not, my mom and I used to watch it if I was home. |

ITA. Does anybody buy Marlena divorcing John, the absolute love of her life? |

The fans have it right. Days has a chance to right now to write one of the greatest Love Stories ever told! They can do that just be bringing John and Marlena back together in the most dramatic, romantic way possible. They just need a little glimmer of hope, that grows into a great big shining light that warms the soul. |

I'm confused...from what I see the ratings are up. They are in 3rd place behind, Y&R and B&B. They were always close to the bottom. So why do you say the ratings are down. Are you looking at a different poll? |

I totally agree with these folks. If Days knows the problem for low ratings why don't they do something about it |

I have been watching Days for about 35 years and yes they do the story lines over and over again. But I really don't mind it's a soap that's what they do. All I know is - I am completely addicted to this show and I wouldn't know what to do with myself without the ability to get home from a stessful day at work full of real life problems and lose myself in Days and all it's ridclousness. |
