Missing Characters & Christmas

Okay, I'm a tad bit confused and somewhat frusterated with the show not giving some of the characters screen time. |

So since she can't be on screen, why not have some characters mention her? 2-) Mickey Horton- Last seen November 2008 played by Kevin Dobson. then only mentioned in last years Christmas episode. why leave out such a big character and not give dobson screen time? 3-) Abe Carver- Abe is credited cast member last seen September 24 2009. Hopefully he gets more on screen time when Fay returns? 4-) Caroline Brady- Although she was seen in the last episode, there was a vast span where she wasn't. July something to November 6! 5-) Celeste Perrault- On the cast list, it says she isnt a past character. However, she was last seen in '07! 6-) Doug and Julie- recurring characters, last seen on new years, why not just use the characters if they are being paid? 7-) Dr. Rolf- ?? What I don't get is, if half of these people are still on contract, why wouldn't the show just use them! It creates realism and I actually want to see all these characters! Or if not often atleast at Christmas... which Doug and Julie usually are.. but how could they leave Mickey out of last Xmas and have him being MIA for such a long time! Im hoping for a return of several of these characters for xmas, i love dool xmas and it would be so much better seeing all these characters be seen for once! thoughts? I agree about the list. It is confusing when you look at it and it doesnt say "past" when we havent seen that character for a year or more. But, i think we are going into a new generation, new families and the vets are no more. Sad but true. I've been watching a long time but i do try to enjoy the new characters as they come. Rafe for one and now his family. I would love it tho if Alice was shown on a Christmas epi. Things just seem to feel good when she's there for the Christmas Tree ornament scenes. |

Most of the actors you mentioned are in their 60’s and 70’s, Alice is in her 90’s, maybe they want to semi-retire. I miss all the holiday scenes too, but they should start new memories with the new generation. |

The way I understand it, although actors are on contract, they're only paid for their time on the set. Therefore, if they don't play, they don't get pay. Obviosly veteran actors cost more and that's why so many vet's are getting cut and young "cheaper" actors are brought in. The actress playing Nicole must make minimum wage because they use her so much. Since the ratings have dropped dramatically since the 80's and early 90's, most soaps are getting cancelled because they're so expensive to produce with such low ratings to boot. They can only keep the shows on now with cheap actors and that recipe translates to most vets are let go. |
