Where did Chloe's maiden name Lane come from?

Where did Chloe's maiden name Lane come from? When Chloe was brought back into her parents' lives why wasn't the last name changed to Nancy's maiden name Miller or Craig and Nancy's last name Wesley?

A friend of Nancy's raised Chloe and I believe that her last name was Lane. She probably never changed it out of respect for the woman that was her mother in every way that counted.

But Chloe also went from foster home to foster home throughout her childhood.
