Why does Steve have to be so stubborn?!! he knows that he is having these episodes because of E.J. and the Dimeras. Kayla is only trying to help him cuz she loves him soooo much! I understand that he doesnt want to hurt her during one of his outrages, but he is only making things worst by leaving. He says he'd rather be in jail then in a hospital where Marlana could probably help him come to terms with all of this. The Dimeras will soon be in control again!

True Steve is stubborn.. but that trait is what's kept him alive all his life.

He fought the fear of his father in his childhood..
Fought alone in the Orphanage, both to survive, and to Never be hurt again.
Put out in the world he never gave up, when others would have... over and over again he'd be beaten down, and he learned the hard way never to trust anyone but himself.

When He met Kayla he met his match, she was just as stubborn as he was.. and when things got tough and she needed him, his stubborness won the day!!!

Then imagine what might have happened to him?
He woke up and found himself in pain, being ordered to do things.. but he refused.. His stubbornness is the reason he's in so much pain now.. it's his mind fighting what other men wouldn't have had the strength to fight for more than a few hours.. he's fought for Years!!!

Depending on himself has been the way he's lived his life.. all others (accept for Kayla have let him down) So it's natural for him to react this way...
Steve and stubborness go together, it makes him the man that Kayla loves.. Oh.. and the character that the fan's love too.
Logic... that word doesn't work for STEVE... He's an out of the box Character.

out of all the people that have been brain washed on the show it seems like he is the only one who can't shake it. What up with that?

Steve is stubborn because that's just who he is. It's part of his personality, and it's part of his character. If Steve suddenly stopped being stubborn...he would be boring...if he did everything the fans or Kayla want him to do..it would get boring..there would be no excitement when he finally does do the thing we were always hoping he'd do. It makes a soap...a soap. Drama...

So...Steve being stubborn is just part of his character and how Steve copes with his surroundings. His stubborness is how he survives.
