The story of Daniel's wife's death has not been fully revealed. Perhaps she died during childbirth, and Daniel was so torn up that he could not take care of the child so he gave him up for adoption.

Maybe Rebecca was the DA's daughter. The DA was hot and heavy to prosecute Daniel for Chloe's poisoning and then changed his mind and was going to go really easy on him at the last minute.

Kate did some research into Rebecca's death and got some information that she did not reveal to anyone.

It has never really been explained why Chad's parents all of a sudden sent him out of Salem to some boarding school and forbid him to have contact with any of his "friends" in town.

It will turn out that Daniel is really good with babies, but does not want to have children with Chloe anytime soon.
Fear that he might lose her the same way?

If TPTB are planning to keep Daniel and Chloe on the show, they will have to give Daniel some kind of storyline.

My "spidey" senses are telling me that Chad is Daniel's son!
