I hope they are testing their chemistry they are both beautiful people !I hate rafe with Sami they are so boring together! Carly and Rafe now that could be something new and interesting which Days needs! |

Go back and watch the episode on that. That is what he said. I do remember that part, but I think I remember Rafe saying "Emily WAS the love of his life". I am sure that 3 years ago she was, but that doesn't mean that she still is. IMO, Sami is now the love of his life. He has proven that so many times by risking his life for her. That is why Carly and Rafe will not be together. He loves Sami and only Sami, and Sami loves Rafe and only Rafe. He and Carly may well be connected in some way, but not romantically. |

They may be testing chemistry (which they always do, blech) but I don't see a Carly/Rafe pairing. I think they'll be bringing Emily back from the dead...just a hunch. We all know soaps love to do that, bring back lost loves to mix things up a bit. |

As for the phrase "love of my life". That phrase is used to describe the person you love most. You don't change people every couple of years. You have one love of your life, not many. This is meant to be the greatest love and Rafe has said that is Emily. Am looking forward to seeing the Carly/Rafe scene and the kiss of life play out. Glad to see new options opening up in Salem. |

I have been watching DAYS for 30 years, so I realize that couples, even supercouples, do not stay together forever. It is a soap, afterall. I meant that for the present time there is no one else in their lives. They love each other completely. Will that change in the future? Maybe, probably, but now that is the way it is. And those supercouples do reunite. I will agree to disagree with you on the "love of my life" phrase. Rafe's love of his life three years ago was Emily, but that does not mean that he hasn't now found a love that he considers an even greater love. I do think that is possible. I know people who were with someone that they thought was the love of their life and then broke up with that person and found someone else who they loved even more. And,I am not sure that part of that phrase from Rafe isn't out of guilt as to what happened to Emily that he considers his fault. When he told Meredith in the basement that he loved her sister, Meredith asked him if he loved Emily as much as he loves Sami and he didn't give her an answer. I also remember him telling Sr. Agnes that Sami was "the one". |

I agree "love of my life" was strong but I do recall him saying "but that was my past and you(Sami) are my future". Not to mention if you hold strong to what is said, I do believe both Sami and Rafe referred to each other as soulmates. To me, that pretty much sums it up as a permanent bond b/c I know as a soap nut, anytime soulmate is tossed around that's pretty much it. I'll agree with you on the part of they won't always be together or "with" each other(which is soap typical) but just like with all supercouples it will always come BACK to Safe. |

I wouldn't assume anything about this show anymore. Bed hopping seems to be the new theme. *IF* the writers still have 'super couples' in mind, which I'm not convinced they do, I think there is a strong argument that Sami will find her way back to Lucas, and I think an argument can be made that Sami & EJ will be thrown back together again for a good while (star-crossed lovers, families that are feuding . . . this is the stuff great drama is made of). So I don't think the 'super couple' or the 'soul mate' argument can be made for Sami and any man. |

And I agree with those who think Emily is probably not dead and will be seen in Salem at some point. That is just something the writers would do. |

Ej and Chad have a scene coming up that must be chem testing too ...maybe Ej will be able to stop screaming to show some chem, maybe he wont make Chad cry. |

Your point about Sami's children highlights what I think is going to happen, or rather, what I think isn't going to happen. I believe Sami will end up with one of the fathers of her children, not with Rafe. She has two with Lucas & two with EJ. I don't see them giving Sami any more children & being with the father of her children has always meant a great deal to Sami. Coupled with the fact that EJ & Lucas are both members of permanent Salem families & Rafe is not (i.e. I think Rafe will exit at some point like Brandon Walker), I see a Lumi reunion or an Ejami reunion. Knowing these writers, they may shoot for both at some point down the line. |

And, on topic, I have no idea if the writers would consider a Carly/Rafe pairing. I mean Kate is currently married to Stefano, so who knows. I'd think Carly will mostly be wrapped up w/Bo, but you know in the end Bo & Hope will be back together. I didn't watch when Carly was on before, so I don't know enough about her character/history to have a feel for what the writers' plans are for her. But I do think 'Rarly' is clever name |

Clearly you're being sarcastic. Who knows if they will pair Carly with anyone, but I recall a thread on the board awhile back that surmised that Johnny was coughing, which might lead to DNA testing, which led into the whole 'Who is Johnny's daddy' argument. So surmising that Rafe & Carly MIGHT be on the writers mind isn't any more far fetched than the 'Oh Johnny coughed so now he is Lucas' son' line of thinking. We all see what we want to see & ignore or mock things that we don't like...it's human nature. |
