I thought it would be fun for each of us to try and guess what all the mystery is surrounding Rafe's dead fiance' and the circustances of her death.

Right now we know:

Rafe and Emily were engaged.

Emily died on their wedding day.

Her death was reported in the newspaper as "mysterious circumstances."

Rafe doesn't want Sami to know anything about it, and neither does Arianna.

Arianna wants Rafe and Sami to break up because she thinks Rafe is getting himself into a similar situation.

So, what is the back-story here? How did Emily die? who was involved? what has Arianna got to do with it?

Maybe Rafe was doing something for the FBI like maybe investgated the mob and they found out who he was working for and went after Emily on their wedding day. My idea sounds like a plot for the Godfather.

I think possibly Ari was involved with someone who was linked to Emily's death. She is so scared of Rafe telling Sami. but she is definitely linked to Emily's death some how. Sunny, how r u ? It's been a while since we've connected? How is your summer?

Great question! We had a similar theory in the SAFE thread where someone stated that Maybe.... Rafe and Arianna's family ties are mobsters. They are targeted and killed Rafe's finance. They are the next mobster family who will bump heads with the Dimera's. However, Rafe and Arianna have been running away from this all thier lives, hint the tragic childhood they keep stating they had. But it seems to always catch up to them.....

My favorite man to talk about! For the most part I agree with my other SAFE buddies. I somewhat think that his family is apart of the mob. Rafe has never talked about his father and I think that's why Rafe joined the FBI to prove that he wasn't like his father but could do some good to protect others from families like his (again maybe); maybe mom was a victim of payback and he had to get Ari out of harm's way and away from dad.

Now, the second half of that theory we discussed on the SAFE thread which would include perhaps adding A Martinez as Rafe's dad which IMO be the best decision DOOL could make now! Remember him as Cruz Castillo on Santa Barbara? Man, you talk about hot!!! Cruz and Eden were the supercouple for that show back in the day (imo) Just my two cents people.

In one of the interviews, Galen said he was pleasantly surprised at Rafe's back story, and he's looking forward to playing it out.

I have always thought that Rafe and Arianna's parents were rich, but were killed by mobsters when they were very young. Their family fortune was stolen by the mobsters(mafia) and Rafe and Arianna went to live in the convent. Rafe joined the FBI and made it his life's ambition to bust up these mob families and bring them to justice.

Emily was in one of those witness protection programs where she turned state's evidence, and in return, they sent her to another state with another identity to start a new life. At some point, she and Arianna met and became best friends.

Rafe fell in love with her and they were going to get married, but when the FBI got wind of it; they told him that she was in WP, and she could no longer be a part of the program if he married her. Also, he could no longer be an FBI agent because being married to a material witness would create a "conflict of interest."

Rafe thought that with his training, he would be able to protect her, so they went ahead with their wedding plans. In the meantime, the mobsters (mafia) found Emily and killed her on their wedding day.

Arianna loved Emily like a sister, and didn't find out that Emily was an FBI witness until after she died. She blamed Rafe and was angry with him for a long time.

Rafe withdrew inside himself and went back to the FBI more determined than ever to bring down the mobsters. He was one hard, straight-up, by the book agent whose life ambition was only to bring down the bad guys.

Then, he met Sami.

Wow alot of Speculation going on and am sure some of it is probably on target but I could really care less about this story. I'm really not into Rafe's past or care much about his character and even less about Ari. He showes very little emotion and talks even less. Hopefully they speed this up cos he's really not interesting. Rafe and Ari seem like filler to me not very exciting. This is Ari's first acting gig before Days she did some Modeling. Her character is just annoying and I think she is wrong for this cast on Days and doesn't fit the role. jmo.
