It's really weird how Nicole disagrees with EJ about taking Johnny away from Sami when there she is with Sydney stolen practically from the womb. Why wouldn't she think it was OK for her to have both of Sami's children?

Maybe she just wants to avoid a big custody suit where there will obviously be a lot if digging, and the more people dig, the more likely she will be found out?

I think you are right.
*** SPOILER***
Nicole finds out Stephanie is thinking of testifying against EJ in the custody suit and she goes to Stefano to find out what his plan is for Rafe. She also tries to convince EJ to forgive Sami. By doing that, she will get RAfe off her back b/c Sami will be getting Johnny back.

She is getting desperate here and will do anything to keep her story in tact. Although she appears to be helping Sami, it is all for her own good.
