O.k. from what I have read from other posters on this board not alot of people hold alot of faith in the Days Cafe, so you may or may not want to take this spoiler with a grain of salt. With that said, EMILY and RAFE are said that there were engaged, and Sami finally learns the whole truth in July.

I have read this on other sites, too. Although I think Sami deserves to know the truth about Rafe's past, I won't understand if and why she will be upset that he was engaged. Afterall, she has been married numerous times, and I don't think there is anyone in the town of Salem who doesn't have some skeletons in their closets.

Sami has told Rafe almost everything about herself. Emily is not a secret. Probably just a tragic part of his past that he doesn't want to talk about.

I agree. Sami's past is no where close to perfect. So, I don't think it will matter that he's been engaged before. I still think there's something more to the story though besides they were just engaged. I think that maybe it was the same sort of story as his & Sami's. He was protecting her from maybe an abusive ex or something. The ex shows up and he couldn't protect her and she was killed while under Rafe's care. That's why Ari keeps referring the past. He's falling for the damsel in distress.

I like your ideas. I remember that Arianna said to Rafe,"you like to play the hero, that's what you do." I also remember the first time we saw him at Emily's grave he said I am so sorry. So, you are probably right--something happened that he could not control.

Definate guilt there. I just wondering if the new girl coming in a few weeks is possibly Emily's sister? I bet if it is she may hold him responsible or what if she has a child and it was Emily n Rafe's but Rafe doesn't know it? OMG the possibilites are endless.
We'll get a lotta Safe luvin' scenes from all this I'm sure...Toot toot!

About how Sami will feel about Rafe's willing to be engaged to Emily, but not wanting to marry Sami--- the thing is that there are so many details missing here. Maybe Rafe and Emily had been together for a long time or maybe she was pregnant with his child. We just don't know what was between them yet. Also, I think, from Rafe's comment at the Brady Pub, he would have married Sami. When Sami said to Rafe my dad is going to want to know why, if we want you to be Grace's father, aren't we getting married. His reply was, "Is that what you want"? Sami never answered, but I am assuming from that that Rafe would have married her if she wanted to get married.
