Jackie has a new way for Owen to have a baby, while the Forresters feel betrayed by Katie.
Owen is over the moon about Jackie agreeing to have a baby, but when they hug, Jackie doesn't look so thrilled. Owen wants to make sure this is what she wants too and Jackie tells him she couldn’t deny him anything that makes him this happy.
Ridge, Eric, Brooke and Donna prepare for a press conference and Ridge pulls Eric aside to tell him about Bill and Katie’s engagement. Eric tells Ridge they will handle all the news at the conference with class and dignity.
Rocco sees Katie and Bill in the hall at FC. He tells Katie the Forresters have been doing it better than anybody. Katie is aware of that and Rocco tells her she looks beautiful and walks away.
Katie and Bill enter the office and Bill wants to go over the schedule with Eric. Brooke asks Katie if she is nervous and reminds her of the promise they made. Katie doesn’t need reminding and Brooke tells her they trust her.
Bridget sits on Nick’s lap and kisses him in the office. She asks why Jackie was so standoffish with Jack and Nick says she is having trouble with children in general right now. Nick tells her about Owen’s desire to have a baby and Jackie’s reluctance. Bridget thinks they will work it out and that Jackie will make the sacrifice because that’s what you do when you love somebody. Nick wants to slap some sense into Owen, but Bridget believes Jackie will make the sacrifice.
Brooke announces to the press that they have merged with Spencer Publications. Bill clarifies that FC is a fully owned division of Spencer Publications and that Katie is CEO. Katie takes questions from the press and talks up Eric and Ridge’s designs. A reporter asks about the ring on her finger and Bill makes it clear they are engaged, but that’s not why she is CEO. The press wonders why she was chosen as CEO over a more qualified member of the Forrester family. Katie diplomatically handles the questions and then she is asked whose side she will take should the issue arise, Bill’s or her family’s? Katie states her loyalty must lie with one person: the CEO of their parent company, her future husband Bill Spencer. Brooke quietly asks Katie how she could do this to them.
Owen shows Jackie some of the surrogates he picked out and Jackie notes they have the same features as she does. Jackie would make any sacrifice to make his dream come true and he says it is, thanks to her. They hug and Jackie looks unhappy. Owen thinks this is really affecting her and knows this is a lot to ask. He loves her so much for giving it to him, but wants her to be fulfilled too and wants to know if the baby will do that for her. Jackie can’t say that, because while he will be a father, she can’t be a mother to his child. She tells him she got caught up in the moment, but in reality, she doesn’t have it in her to raise a child.
Steffy comes to the door and Jackie asks her to come in. Steffy isn’t sure why Jackie asked her to come over and Jackie tells her Owen needs her. Jackie says Steffy and Owen are close friends and maybe one day they can be more. She thinks they might be able to share something she can’t give him and wants them to consider it.
Katie tells the family she put a spin on things because she couldn’t tell the press about their private agreement. Ridge, Eric, Donna and Brooke are unhappy with her and Ridge declares he won’t be Bill’s puppet or answer to anyone. Bill walks in and reminds them all that they signed contracts and they work for him. Eric states they work for themselves and if that’s not clear he should find a new design team. Bill tells them he would block them from working elsewhere and suggests they do what they do best - design - or they will regret it. Brooke is disappointed in Katie and wonders if she is going to stab them in the back. She asks, at the end of the day, who will she be loyal to – Bill or her family?
