Eric and Donna end their marriage, Pam warns Donna, Taylor makes a shocking request of Brooke, and Ridge dashes Steffy’s hopes.

Eric is confused and angry as to why Donna doesn’t want to work things out now. He shouts, “You’re breaking my heart!” Donna insists it’s for his own good and Eric assumes she’s leaving him for Owen. Donna doesn’t confirm or deny, she just says it would be worse if they waited. Eric says she’s right and puts his wedding band on the desk saying, “Obviously our marriage is over.” Pam watches and smiles from the shadows. Donna sadly takes off her wedding ring and says, “Why didn’t you leave when I asked you too?” Eric responds, “Is this what you really want?” Donna doesn’t see any other way and Eric says he’s been a fool. Donna cries as Eric tells her he believed in her when she showed him that he was a prisoner in his own life. He searched for the passion he was missing and found it in her. He’s lucky he’s been loved so much in his life, but he never thought he would find the kind of love she brought to him. He thinks that kind of love just doesn’t happen and admits that Stephanie was right about that. Donna exclaims that he’s wrong and begs him not to think she didn’t love him. Eric leaves and Donna crumbles.

Pam comes out and tells Donna she’s better off because women like them aren’t meant to be married. Donna gives Pam the look of death and then lashes out at her for making her hurt Eric. Donna doesn’t think Pam’s plan will work, because Eric didn’t look like a man ready to jump into another woman’s arms. Pam says he will recover in time and at least he’s away from her. Pam does wonder, however, how she will make sure Eric goes back to Stephanie. Donna wants Pam to promise to stay away from Eric or else she will call the police. Pam mocks her bravery, but says if Donna keeps her promise and stays away from Eric, then she will too. Pam vows that Donna will never see her again, but she will be watching because she has nothing else. This is her life now – minding Donna.

Taylor defends her relationship with Rick to Brooke, but Brooke continues to ask her to put her feelings aside and do what’s best for Rick, like she did for Jack. Taylor says there’s a difference because Rick is a grown man. Brooke brings up the fact that Rick wants kids and asks Taylor if she really wants to be raising kids in five years. Taylor thinks she should be having this conversation with Rick and not with Brooke, but Brooke can’t believe she hasn’t had this conversation with him yet. Brooke thinks the age difference is too great between them and wonders if Taylor will be able to keep up with Rick in the future and brings up their sex life. Taylor is outraged and tells Brooke this is the last time she will come into her home and tell her how to run her life. They continue to argue and Taylor blames Brooke for stealing her husbands in the past, but says she can’t do that now because Taylor is marrying her son. She insists she will not lose another man who she loves to her. Brooke can’t believe all the bitterness coming from Taylor and thinks she’s taking her anger at her out on Rick. Taylor says it’s not all about Brooke and that she and Rick want to be together. Brooke thinks things won’t work out between them and asks if there’s anything she can do to make this wedding go away. Taylor blurts out, “You can give me back my husband!” Brooke is shocked and Taylor tries to take it back, but Brooke asks her, “Who would you rather marry? Rick or Ridge?”

Ridge comes to see Stephanie at Eric’s house and Stephanie wonders if Eric really wants her living there. Ridge says he doesn’t seem to mind and Stephanie thinks Eric is finally coming to a decision regarding the women in his life. Ridge starts to go upstairs to tell Eric to decide so he doesn't keep Stephanie in limbo, but Stephanie stops him saying Eric is probably at Donna’s right now.

Ridge goes to the office and finds Steffy who looks upset. She asks if he’s okay with Taylor marrying Rick. Ridge doesn’t think he has a say and she asks if Brooke wasn’t in the picture, would he want Taylor back? Ridge is surprised at the question and Steffy says she loves Brooke, but she loves her mom more and she thinks Ridge does too. Ridge admits that he will always love Taylor, but things change. Steffy says he’s the one who changed because no one else wanted things this way. Ridge apologizes, but says they are both marrying other people and hugs his daughter.

Eric goes home and Stephanie asks if he’d like dinner. He declines and Stephanie notices his wedding ring is gone. Eric admits he and Donna are over. Stephanie is surprisingly empathetic and says she thought Donna did care for him, but maybe Donna just got scared of the enormity of marriage. She tells Eric, for what it’s worth, she loves him and is there for him.
