Custody papers are signed, Donna and Eric sort of come to an understanding, and Donna and Stephanie face off.
As Donna begs Eric to give her another chance, Eric says he had every intention of asking her for a divorce. Donna points out that he hasn’t done that and thinks it’s because he still loves her. Eric doesn’t disagree, but says he’s afraid that’s not enough. Donna thinks love is always enough and can get you through anything. Eric says without trust it’s just need and habit and Donna says that’s why he stayed with Stephanie all these years. Donna insists Stephanie can’t make him happy like she has and says their marriage deserves another chance. Eric responds that this isn’t about Stephanie; it’s about what she did. Donna reminds him that his family didn’t allow her to see him, but Eric thinks they just did it for the sake of his recovery. Donna asks if he is grateful and Eric says he is. Donna understands that he wants to reward his family for their loyalty and recalls that they always believed that she would cheat on him. Eric never thought she would, but she proved him wrong. Donna thinks there must still be hope for them. Eric says this is where he needs to be right now and Donna asks him not to close the door on their relationship. She says they could still have everything they ever dreamed of and kisses him before she leaves the room.
As Brooke and Ridge bask in their happiness over their engagement, Nick and Katie come over. Brooke and Ridge tell the new couple how happy Hope and RJ are to have Jack in the house. Katie then notices Brooke’s ring and expresses her congratulations. Nick announces he has the custody papers and that Taylor has already signed them. Brooke is ready to sign them too, but Ridge pulls out his own papers for Nick to sign. He says they will all be in Jack’s life and that all the animosity and antagonism between the three of them must stop. Ridge says these papers are for Jack’s well-being and spell out that the three of them will respect each other as parents and each other’s relationships. Brooke is pleased with Ridge’s gesture and Nick signs Ridge’s document. They then tackle Nick’s custody papers and as Brooke happily signs, she thanks both Nick and Ridge. She says Jack has always had a place in her heart and now he will have a place in her home and family because of Nick’s generosity and Ridge’s understanding. As Brooke gushes about how happy she is, Katie looks on concerned. Nick says he will file the papers and says Jack is officially Brooke’s. Nick can’t believe that Ridge is going along with this arrangement, but Ridge can’t wait to see the little guy grow into a man. Nick thinks that’s a little way off and Katie says Jack will soon be a big brother to her baby. Katie knows Brooke has problems with what happened, but Brooke says life goes on and the baby deserves love and commitment.
Ridge gets a phone call and when he hangs up, Brooke kisses him to thank him for what he’s done. She doesn’t think Nick will be a problem and says they can have the future they’ve always wanted. She thinks they will have their family and Nick and Katie will have theirs and everything will be just perfect. Just then Katie doubles over in pain.
While they wait downstairs for Eric, Stephanie tells an anxious Felicia and Thorne to relax, pointing out that Eric wanted to see Donna. Felicia worries Eric will take Donna back, but Stephanie remains confident saying Donna wasn’t Eric’s first indiscretion in their marriage.
Donna comes downstairs and tells the family that Eric didn’t ask her for a divorce. Stephanie points out that he didn’t ask her to stay either. Donna says she asked for a second chance and Eric is thinking about it. Stephanie asks her children to leave them alone and once they leave, Stephanie pointedly tells Donna no matter what she believes, her marriage to Eric is over. Stephanie tells Donna that all the years she and Eric have shared far outweigh Donna’s marriage to him. She insists she will end up with Eric, but Donna counters that he is still her husband and it is not over! Donna knows what Stephanie is capable of to get what she wants, but doubts Stephanie knows what she is capable of. If there is still a breath in her body Donna will not give up on her marriage to Eric!
Eric pulls out a wedding photo of him and Donna and looks at it pensively.
