Owen pleads his case with Donna, Katie pleads her case with Nick, Pam wants Stephanie to put a stop to Owen and Donna, and Lt. Baker doesn’t believe the case is closed.

At the police station, Owen continues to try and convince Donna that he didn’t really poison Eric. Donna doesn’t buy it and tells him she will see him behind bars. Owen continues to plead his case to a disbelieving Donna, as he tells her he’s scared because he’s never been to jail before, but better him than her. He says whoever planted the pills is out to frame her and they won’t stop and he urges her to have Marcus protect her. She refuses to believe him and he asks if he was the one to poison Eric, why would he fight to keep him on life support and why would he confess? He says, “For your own safety. Please believe me.” Donna still doesn’t believe that he would confess to attempted murder to help her. She thinks he’s lying or crazy or both. Owen says there’s a third possibility and says he loves her. He says he didn’t have a choice but to confess. He didn’t even think, his first instinct was to protect her. She says it was a big price to pay and Owen asks if there is any price too high when you love someone. Owen continues to hammer home the point that she needs to be careful and recalls the night her room was broken into. Donna starts to get scared and finally believes that Owen is telling the truth that he didn’t try to kill Eric. Owen asks her call someone come get her so she doesn’t leave the police station alone. Owen grabs her arm as he pleads with her to protect herself and the guard comes in to take him away. Donna freaks out as Owen is dragged down the hallway yelling at her to be careful.

At the hospital, Katie insists that she and the baby will be fine, but Nick says having the baby could be fatal for her and he won’t let that happen. Katie thinks she’s pregnant for a reason and asks Nick to have faith. He says he has faith, but he also has the facts. Katie says if something happens to her, he and Bridget could take care of the baby. Nick says she isn’t going to die and Katie says she doesn’t want to because she has more reason to live than ever before. She has the baby who is a part of him and she doesn’t want to give that up. Nick agrees to go along with her keeping the baby.

In Eric’s room, Rick sits bedside as Stephanie walks in. Rick says Bridget got him up to speed on what happened and Stephanie blames herself saying she should have fought Eric’s marriage to Donna harder. Rick says it’s not Donna’s fault, it’s Owen’s, but Stephanie says she doesn’t think he acted alone. They wonder how anyone could do this to such a good person and then Rick leaves to go to work.

Stephanie stays behind and tells Eric she will make sure whoever did this to him pays. Pam comes to Eric’s room and Stephanie fills her in on Eric being drugged. Pam thinks it had to be the “hot tamale” who poisoned Eric, but Stephanie says they arrested Owen. Pam wonders why Donna wasn’t arrested even though they found the pills in her drawer and asks what Stephanie makes of that. Stephanie says she’s sure Donna and Owen are in it together. Pam agrees saying Donna and Owen are very close and Stephanie asks if she has seen anything. Pam says, “Have I ever!” Stephanie thinks they need to get Owen to admit Donna is involved, but Pam thinks they have to be careful because if they are in it together, they have it all planned out. Stephanie says they are foolish if they think she would let them get away with this. Stephanie sits by Eric’s bedside and promises that she will not let him down.

Lt. Baker looks over Owen’s file as Charlie walks in. He asks his father why he keeps going over the report when Owen confessed. He says it’s almost too good to be true and the elder Baker agrees saying he wants to know more about Owen and his relationship with Donna. The two discuss the case with Charlie thinking they have the right guy and his father doubting that. Lt. Baker doesn’t understand why Owen would confess when there isn’t any evidence against him and thinks maybe it’s a cover up.
