Stephanie brings in a specialist for Eric. Donna is arrested, but Owen confesses!
Donna is outraged that someone tried to kill Eric and Marcus says, “Not someone. Owen. There’s nobody else that could have done this.” Owen adamantly defends himself and Donna asks if Bridget is sure Eric was poisoned. Bridget says there was too much potassium in Eric’s blood, which caused the heart attack.
Owen and Marcus physically get into it and the cops show up. Bridget says she called them on the way over and Marcus tells them that Owen tried to kill Eric Forrester. Marcus and Bridget present their case to Lt. and Det. Baker and Lt. Baker asks for the gin bottle. Marcus says it is conveniently gone and goes into his theory against Owen. Lt. Baker says it’s a compelling story, but without evidence there’s nothing they can do. The cops ask for permission to search the house and Donna says of course.
Stephen and Beth come to see Donna at FC to take her out to lunch, but find her office empty. Stephen flashes back to catching Donna and Eric having sex on the couch and says this office brings back a lot of bad memories. He says Eric has cost their family a lot, but Beth says he has made their daughter happy. Stephen says, “Who knows how long that would have lasted.” Beth can’t believe he’s talking like Eric is already dead. Stephen says even if he did recover, Eric would eventually break Donna’s heart and go back to Stephanie. Beth wants Stephen to let it go because they were having a good time. Stephen thinks he has a right to be upset with Eric, but says he’s in a coma now so there’s nothing else he can do to their family. Beth hopes Eric gets better, but Stephen can't let go of all the heartache Eric has caused him and the family. Stephen realizes he’s letting this dark cloud hang over him and Beth says she’s surprised because he seemed like a different person now. Stephen says he is because they are home and he has never stopped loving her. He says he is free to be the man she has always wanted him to be and the man she deserves. He wants to take her in his arms and never let her go. Which he does as he kisses her.
Stephanie sits by Eric’s bedside and a coma specialist she brought in from Europe comes in to talk to her. She asks if she is hoping for something that is not going to be. He tells her there is no way to predict what is going to happen, but Steph was hoping for something more definitive. Steph asks if they will know when “it’s time”, saying, “her husband” wouldn’t want to be kept alive by machines. She asks if this is the best they can hope for and the doctor suggests they take him off the ventilator because his condition may have improved and he will be closely monitored. If they find he has not improved, they will put him back on the machines. The doctor tells her to think about it carefully because this could be the hope she is looking for. Steph says, “Or not.” After the doctor leaves, Stephanie sits by Eric’s bedside holding his hand.
Ridge, Felicia and Thorne run into Brooke in the hall at FC and they tell her Ridge has decided to make amends with Donna and Owen. Brooke looks less than thrilled and Ridge is confused saying he thought she’d be happy about this. Brooke tells them that Eric’s heart attack may have been artificially induced.
Later, Stephanie meets the family at the office and Brooke tells Ridge, Felicia, Steph and Thorne about the possibility of Owen poisoning Eric. The Forresters think Donna was probably involved, but Brooke defends her sister. Bridget calls and fills Brooke in on the cops being there. After Brooke hangs up, she tells everyone about the lab reports indicating Eric was poisoned. Ridge says, “Then it’s true. Someone tried to kill Dad.” Felicia says, “Not someone. Owen and Donna!” They all rush out to go to the house.
As the cops search the house, Owen tries to talk to Donna, but Marcus goes off when he sees them. Bridget interrupts and says she debriefed Eric’s doctors and Donna thinks now Eric will get better. However, Bridget says the coma was caused by the heart attack, not the drugs so they might not be able to help him. Ridge, Steph, Felicia and Thorne come in and accuse Donna of hurting Eric. Marcus and Brooke defend Donna while Donna is in shock that they think she drugged Eric. Accusations continue to fly against Donna until Det. Baker brings down some lingerie and pills he found upstairs. Lt. Baker asks Bridget if she recognizes the pills and Bridget says it’s potassium chloride, which is what caused Eric’s hearth attack. They note that it’s hard to trace and Det. Baker says he found it in the lingerie drawer in the master bedroom. Donna says the panties are hers, but the pills are not. The Forresters want Donna arrested, but Brooke says Donna is not a killer. Lt. Baker arrests Donna and they start to drag her out of the house until Owen says Donna didn’t do it because he is the one who tried to kill Eric Forrester!
