Marcus tries to convince everyone that Owen poisoned Eric, Brooke helps Ridge relax, and Owen’s charms prove irresistible to Donna.
Brooke doesn’t really think that Eric was poisoned and Marcus says he doesn’t have all the pieces of the puzzle, but he definitely thinks Owen is involved. He rushes out to find his mother to protect her from Owen.
Ridge and Bridget talk at Eric’s bedside and Bridget doesn’t know if he’ll ever wake up. Ridge thinks he has to and Bridget says everyone knows how much he loves Eric. Ridge sits down and tells his father that he feels horrible and is sorry if he misunderstood his wishes. He doesn’t want his father to die, but he doesn’t want him to suffer either.
Marcus drives over to Donna’s and Steffy calls him. She wants him to meet her at the hospital, but he says he has to handle something first and will meet her later.
At her house, Donna tells Owen she needs to go to the hospital, but Owen wonders what she’ll do there. She doesn’t know, but she feels like she needs to do something. Owen tells her she’s done everything she can and any man would be lucky to be with her. Marcus enters and sees Owen with Donna. He angrily pushes him away and says, “I told you to leave and now I’m making you!” Donna tries to defend Owen, but Marcus insists Owen is bad news. Owen says he’ll let the two of them talk and leaves.
Donna rails at Marcus and says Owen is her friend. She points out the dinner Owen made her and Marcus panics asking if she feels okay. She assures him she’s fine and he asks where the gin bottle is. Donna tells him Owen poured it out. He asks if Eric drank the gin and Donna confirms he did the night of his heart attack. Marcus continues to question her and Donna wonders what's going on. Marcus tells her he thinks Owen and the gin had something to do with Eric’s heart attack. Shocked, Donna looks at her son and asks, “You are not serious? You think Owen positioned Eric?” Marcus says, “Yes Mom, I do.” Donna insists Owen didn’t do anything wrong, but Marcus thinks otherwise. Marcus instructs her not to tell Owen what he just said and to stay away from him, but Donna continues to stick up for her new friend.
Steffy goes to the hospital and Brooke follows. They both console Ridge and Bridget says there’s no change. Brooke tells Ridge he needs to stop beating himself up. Ridge says he didn’t want Eric to die and he wants him to get better. Ridge needs Eric to come back to them so he can show him how much he loves him. Jackie enters Eric’s room and is stunned by the sight of him. Brooke and Steffy leave and Jackie says she’ll leave too. Ridge tells her she can have some time with Eric and he and Bridget leave the two of them alone. A sad Jackie sits down and gently tells Eric, “None of this would have happened if you had made your life with me.”
Ridge and Brooke go home and Brooke gives him a massage. Ridge feels bad not being with his father, but Brooke says the doctor will call if there are any changes. She also points out that the kids miss him. Ridge asks Brooke to tell him if she sees Steffy and Marcus hanging around at work together. Brooke tells him she saw Marcus today, but doesn’t think Steffy is his top priority right now. Ridge and Brooke cuddle in bed and Brooke assures him she will take care of the kids and the company, he can just focus on his father. Ridge asks why they aren’t married yet. He thinks he should have dragged her up to the altar when Eric and Donna got married because it might be the last time he could have gotten married with Eric by his side. Brooke tells him they will get married soon enough and assures him Eric will be there.
Marcus goes to the hospital and sees Steffy, but she leaves so he can talk to Bridget alone. Marcus tells Bridget to check Eric’s blood for poison. Bridget is shocked by the suggestion and Marcus explains his theory regarding Owen. He asks if there’s a poison that can cause a heart attack and Bridget says there is, but she doesn’t think that's what happened. She wonders why Marcus thinks Owen poisoned Eric and Marcus says if Eric dies, Owen can get his hands on his widow and his fortune! Bridget still isn’t sure Eric was poisoned, but says any poison would be out of his blood stream right now. Marcus adamantly pushes the point and Bridget says he had blood tests done the night he came in the ER but they didn’t test for poison, however the sample could still be around. Marcus asks if there’s anything Bridget can do because if he’s right about Owen and he did try to kill Eric, he is one sick vicious man!
Owen comes back to the house and Donna seems uncomfortable. He wonders if Marcus badmouthed him and says she can trust him. Donna wonders if she can and Owen smooth talks her into relaxing, telling her they are a team. He says he is right by her side all the way, “Just you and me”, as Donna smiles at him.
Marcus sits by Eric’s bedside and tells him that he’s trying to look out for Donna. Marcus vows to stop Owen and then maybe Bridget can help Eric come back to them. He says that Donna really misses him and he gets the feeling she’s never been accepted for the way she is and he thanks him for loving his mom and looking out for both of them. Bridget returns to the room and Marcus asks if he was right. He asks, “Did Owen poison Eric?”
