Felicia and Thorne learn of Ridge and Brooke’s plan, Donna convinces Eric to change his mind, and Katie, Nick and Beth discuss the importance of family.
In Eric’s office, Felicia and Throne meet Ridge and Brooke and find out what the new FC plan is. They can’t believe Eric is okay with it and Ridge assures them he is. Ridge asks if they are and Felicia says she never wanted Eric out, she just wanted Donna gone. Ridge tells her Eric is more than welcome to stay on as a designer, but Donna is not welcome at all. Brooke says the company is moving forward and they inform the siblings of their plan to announce their wedding and the change of hands at the board meeting tomorrow. Thorne is a little taken aback by the press getting involved and Felicia asks if Eric agreed to that. Ridge assures them that Eric wants the company back on top and they are going to put it there. They wonder how Eric came to agree to this and Ridge tells them about his meetings in New York. Ridge says the writing was on the wall and Eric had to face it. Ridge and Brooke say the transition will be friendly and smooth and tomorrow they will tell the world the torch has been passed.
After Thorne and Felicia leave, Ridge and Brooke discuss how things are finally coming together. They kiss and Ridge starts to take off his jacket. Brooke and Ridge gets dressed after their interlude and Brooke can’t believe they had sex in Eric’s office. She wonders if Pam heard them and Ridge says if she didn’t there’ll be a repeat performance. They then discuss how Eric is giving them the company with his blessing.
In their bedroom, Eric makes himself a drink and Donna rubs his shoulders. Eric tells Donna to thank her friend Owen for the gin because he didn’t realize he was out. Donna notes Eric looks worn out and he tells her he feels empty. Donna tells him to forget about the document Ridge wants him to sign, but Eric informs her that he agreed to it. Donna is shocked, but Eric says he’s been training Ridge his whole life and now he deserves his shot. Donna wonders what he wants and asks what’s really in his heart. She continues to try and convince him to reconsider and Eric thinks a minute and then says he's turned the company around before and he can do it again. This isn’t a scandal, it’s just gossip. He gets riled up and says he loves his company and he will be the one to decide when he steps down! They discuss how the families will probably end up divided, but Eric says Rick will always have a place in FC as well as Marcus. He thinks he’s a great kid and wants to include him in his will. Donna is clearly touched by the gesture and Eric says he wants to provide for her and Marcus in case something happens to him. Donna doesn’t even want to think about it, but Eric doesn’t want her to have to fight his family for what’s hers. He thinks if he doesn’t give the company to Ridge and Brooke tomorrow they will feel betrayed and will blame her for his change of heart. Donna says his kids blame her for everything else and Eric laughs saying they are so wrong about her. Donna thinks they are even more wrong about him if they think he’s giving up his company. Eric says their marriage is not a liability and will one day be looked at as the company’s rejuvenation period. He can’t imagine giving up his company saying it gives him purpose and determination. Donna asks him to give her a little of that purpose and determination and he happily obliges and kisses her.
Basking in the afterglow, Donna tells Eric how happy she is with him and how much she loves him, but he doesn’t respond. Donna looks up at him and he appears to be sleeping, but Donna gets nervous and tries to wake him up. She gives him a nudge, but he doesn’t react. Donna panics and yells out “Oh my God! Eric?!”
At Brooke’s house, Beth brings Hope and Katie cookies. Katie tells her that they are wonderful, but Beth says to thank Brooke because she found the recipe in her box. Katie says it’s Beth’s recipe, but Beth clearly doesn’t remember that. Katie gets uncomfortable and takes Hope into the kitchen and Nick comes to the door. Beth lets him in and Hope runs up to him, clearly excited to see him. Nick picks her up and Katie looks surprised to see Nick saying she thought he was on his honeymoon. Nick says they had to cut it short because Bridget got called to the hospital. Katie and Nick both note that the other looks great.
Katie comes downstairs after taking Hope to play with her dollhouse. Katie asks if Beth remembers when she would play with hers and Beth says she does. She's been getting a lot of great care at the hospital and thanks both Nick and Katie for their help as well. Beth says she didn’t realize how much she missed her family while in Paris and says she was pretty lonely. Katie says she doesn’t have to be lonely anymore. Beth tells Nick and Katie about losing her memory and growing depressed. She tells Nick she would have continued to lose herself in that darkness if Nick hadn’t brought her home. She’s happy to be home now and living her life and making cookies for her grandchildren. Hope returns and asks for another cookie. Beth asks her to help her make the next batch and they go to the kitchen.
Nick tells Katie the Logan women have a lot in common. Katie says, “I guess so. Neither one of us would be here if it weren’t for you.” Nick says the Logans should give themselves more credit and calls her brave for stepping up at the wedding. Katie didn’t know if she would be able to do it, but in the end it was a good thing. Nick says she “done good” and Katie tells him it was a pleasure. Katie remarks how lucky he and Jack are to have Bridget in their lives and that it’s a rare thing to be absolutely certain you’re making the right choice for yourself and the people you love. Katie is happy to have been a part of that and is happy for all of them.
