Their Marriage is About to Explode!

Wednesday, July 16 2008
Eric explains why Donna can’t come to New York, Owen gets cozy in his new role with Donna, and Ridge and Brooke plan for the future.

Thorne comes into Eric’s office with a package and asks if he needs to send it and twenty others like it to New York. Eric tells Throne he’s having Marcus take care of it. Marcus enters in a dressier outfit than his usual green work shirt and informs both men that he already had all twenty of them sent out with VIP treatment. Thorne looks irritated and makes some snide remarks about him being Donna’s son, but Eric is impressed. Thorne wants to know why Eric is even sending them and Eric says it’s a PR move. Thorne says he’s been going to this thing for years, why does he need to do this now? Eric says they’ve taken a big hit in this economy, but Thorne thinks they’ve taken a bigger hit than most. Eric wonders what that’s supposed to mean and Donna enters. Thorne starts to leave and sarcastically asks Marcus to show him where the shipping department is.

Once alone, Donna wants to know why she can’t go to New York with Eric and he just tells her he can’t take her this time. Eric gets a phone call from Stephanie who is returning his earlier message. Eric tells his ex that he is going to be gone and wanted to see how she was doing. He tells her he’ll call her when he gets back. Donna wonders why he felt the need to call Steph before he leaves. Eric thinks she’s having a hard time and needs their help. Donna suggests he send Pam over to take of her and Eric says she’s needed at the office. Donna takes the opportunity to tell him she hired Owen as her assistant. Eric says good, he can take care of all her needs. Donna tells him what she needs right now is her husband. Eric tells Donna that he has to go to New York alone so people think that just because he has a beautiful new bride doesn’t mean he’s lost interest in Forrester. Donna doesn’t understand how her staying behind will help and Eric reluctantly tells her that there’s a concern in the industry about the decline in sales because he divorced Stephanie and married a younger woman. Donna is outraged that people are saying it’s her fault. She says she was once his inspiration and now she’s a liability. Donna wants to know where all this talk is coming from about her hurting the company and Eric says that’s why he’s going to New York, so he can find out. Donna feels horrible that she’s causing all this hassle and wants to blame Ridge, but realizes he’s just protecting his family’s legacy. Donna wonders if she really could be the reason sales are down and Eric says if it is true, and he doesn’t think it is, they will handle it together. They profess their love for each other and Eric assures her that this is just a speed bump. Thorne peeks his head in and says they have to go. Eric tells her to hang in there and he’ll call when he gets to New York.

Owen sits in the shipping office looking at a press release with Donna’s photo on it. Felicia enters calling Donna a piece of work and refers to her as Owen’s prey. Owen doesn’t want Felicia to talk about her like that, but Felicia tells him she’s his father’s worst mistake. Owen wonders if she really thinks breaking them up will put her parents back together. Felicia is sure of it and says she wants her parents back together because there is something so wrong about Eric and Donna’s relationship. She urges him to not go soft on her now and wonders if he’s still with her on it. Owen says a woman like Donna doesn’t belong with a guy like that anyway. He assures Felicia that she will get what she wants.

Felicia leaves and Marcus and Steffy enter. Marcus wants to know what he’s doing there and Owen fills them in on his new position as Donna’s assistant. Owen introduces himself to Steffy and tells them how he got the job. Marcus seems suspicious, but gets a page to deliver a package. After he leaves, Steffy calls Owen confident and notes that he’s hitched his wagon to Marcus. Owen can see how someone could see it that way, but it’s not his style, he was just looking to make a change and enjoy life. Steffy wonders why it has to be in L.A. being Donna’s assistant. Owen notes her cynicism of Donna and defends his new boss saying she’s an amazing person by accepting Marcus in her life. Steffy thinks he’s one of the few who would say that and he thinks it’s a good thing she has an assistant like him because he hasn’t already passed judgment on her.

Donna cries after Eric leaves and Owen walks in. He notices she’s upset and asks what’s going on. She tells him the reason she’s not going to New York is because Eric has to do damage control because she doesn’t fit the Forrester image. Owen tries to make her feel better and tells her that Eric will do what he needs to do and she'll be fine, he’ll make sure of it.

Owen leaves Donna’s office and runs into Felicia. She tells him now that Eric is going out of town this is his opening to get the goods on Donna. He says she’ll have what she needs tonight and remarks that Donna’s marriage to Eric is about to explode.

Owen goes back in the office and Donna tearfully tells him she wants to go home. He holds out his hand and says he’ll take her.

In bed, Brooke and Ridge make plans for a road trip and discuss how they’ll make love every time they see a comet. Ridge promises there will be a meteor shower, but first he has to deal with Forrester Creations because Eric is going out of town. Ridge tells Brooke he wants to run the company and let his father just concentrate on designing. Brooke says it is kind of stressful for a man his age to be running the company and Ridge urges her not to say that to his face. Brooke thinks that because of his hot young wife, he might have added twenty more years to his life. Ridge thinks they won’t have a company in twenty years because of his hot young wife. They argue some more about Donna and Brooke turns over in a huff. Ridge wonders if this is the part where they get really angry with each other. Brooke says it’s his fault because he's the one who brought up Donna. Ridge counters that it was her who brought up Eric’s hot young wife and Brooke asks if he always has to win. He playfully leans over and says he does when she’s the prize and she tells him to make love to her. After their role in the hay, Ridge says they need to stop talking about getting married and just do it. Brooke wonders if he really means it and he suggests they do it in Forrester Creations’ Main Show Room when Eric gets back from his trip. He wants to do it at Forrester so they can tell the world about their commitment to each other and the company that they are going to run. Brooke wonders what about Eric? Ridge thinks his father will always have a place at Forrester, but the two of them need to step up. Brooke asks if he thinks Eric will go along with it and Ridge thinks this time he will.
