Marcus and Rick bond over Ridge’s disdain for both of them, the Logans convince Beth to stay, and Owen Knight comes to town.

It’s a new day in L.A. and Brooke updates Donna and Katie on what’s happening with Beth. She says Beth seems quiet, but more like her old self today and thinks she might stay since her whole family is here. Brooke notes that dad really wants her to stay too. They discuss how Bridget is making appointments with the neurologists at the hospital for their mother and they think that’s all the more reason for Beth to stay. Donna says they need a way to keep her memories fresh and alive so they can remind her of their time as a family. Katie says they need to recreate them and Brooke thinks they should make a list of ways to bring mom’s memories back.

Downstairs, Beth fondly remembers looking at Brooke’s music box, but then gets a flash of the past when her daughters were little girls playing ring around the rosy. She gets upset as her memory turns dark and grabs her purse like she’s going to leave. Stephen comes in and Beth puts her purse down. They sit, have coffee and talk. Beth asks Stephen why this is happening to her, but Stephen doesn’t know. Beth has come to a decision but thinks he won’t like it and asks him not to fight her on it. Stephen realizes she still wants to leave and doesn’t understand why. Beth says she wants to leave while her family still has wonderful memories of her. Stephen says if she leaves her daughters will be brokenhearted. Beth thinks they will be brokenhearted anyway if they have to watch her deteriorate. Beth says she wanted to stay but then had a memory of the girls as children and then a cloud descended over it and suddenly there was nothing but a cold dark void. She says her memories will disappear until everyone she loves is a stranger to her. Beth tells Stephen her decision is final and that this is how it has to be.

Donna, Brooke and Katie come downstairs and Beth tells them that she is going back to Paris. Brooke tells her mother that she knows it’s difficult but she needs to depend on others. Beth doesn’t want to do that and they argue over it. Beth tells her daughters to let the Beth Logan they once knew live in their memories and to let her go. The girls continue to try and convince her to stay and Beth yells at them to stop pushing her. Katie tells her mother that she understands that she doesn’t want help, because she felt the same way when she received Storm’s heart. However, she urges Beth to not run away to Paris, because life is short and every moment is valuable. Katie, Donna, Brooke and Stephen all plead with her again to stay by saying they can be the family they never had the chance to be until now. Katie says it’s what Storm would want and Beth cries saying she’s scared because she doesn’t want to be a burden, but she does want to be with her family for whatever time she has left.

At Forrester, Phoebe works on the computer in Eric’s office and Steffy walks in. Steffy is upset her sister told Marcus’s secret, but because Eric was so great about it, she’ll overlook it. Phoebe warns Steffy to stay away from Marcus since Ridge doesn’t like him. She reminds her sister how their father was with her and Rick, but Steffy says her and Marcus are just friends. Phoebe doesn’t think that will be for long considering how they look at each other. Steffy says Ridge shouldn’t hold his grudge for Donna against Marcus because he is a good guy.

A mysterious man stands outside of Forrester Creations and says, “Marcus my man. No wonder I haven’t heard from you.”

On the rooftop lounge, Marcus talks with his fellow employees about suddenly being in the Forrester family. He says he’ll stay in the shipping department and work hard. Rick comes up and asks to speak to Marcus alone. He wonders why Marcus wasn’t upfront about who he was when he first got to L.A. Marcus apologizes and says Donna asked him to keep it a secret because Ridge has it in for her. Rick understands because he knows all about the wrath of Ridge. Besides, they’re family. Marcus notes that it’s a complicated family tree and Rick says, “It’s more like a snarl of ingrown branches.”
Steffy joins the cousins on the rooftop and Rick leaves. Steffy and Marcus talk about their families and Steffy wonders if Marcus wants to get back at Ridge. Marcus thinks that would only make him resent him more. Steffy likes that he’s “real” and grabs his hand saying it’ll be interesting to see how things unfold with him.
Steffy leaves and the mystery man, Owen Knight comes up to talk to Marcus. Marcus says he looks familiar and realizes he’s from the investigative services. Owen confirms this and says Marcus owes everything to him.
