Katie speaks at her brother's memorial. Taylor and Stephanie meet in Katie's hospital room.
At the Forrester Mansion, Katie stands at the front of the assembled group and speaks. She says in heaven everything is supposed to be perfect, and we like to believe that because it’s comforting. She says Memorial services are for the purpose of convincing ourselves that our loved one is at peace. As she warms up to her theme that it’s all a farce, Donna warns her that no one wants to hear her negativity, but Katie says she has a right to be there. Katie gives a speech wherein she questions everything about death, she worries that she won’t be able and to remember Storm properly in a few years. She says they all love the idea that Storm lives within her, but she doesn’t like the idea. She shows them her angry looking scar on her chest and says, “Look. This is what Storm looks like now!” Katie explains to her family that she loved Storm, but her grief is different than theirs! She lists the wonderful attributes that Storm had, but cries that she never wanted his life! She tells the gathered group that she feels responsible for his death, and with every breath she takes, she feels guilty! “I am ashamed to be alive. I am afraid of living!” Stephen, Donna and Brooke sob as she promises not to make it a smaller heart than it was in its original owner. She vows to try and remember how much Storm loved her with the heart, and says she will try to love others with it as he would have. Her sisters step forward and embrace her.
In Katie’s hospital room, Taylor waits and Stephanie comes in. As they chat, the subject of Rick comes up and Stephanie assumes that Taylor has ended her dalliance with Rick. Just as she is about to set Stephanie straight the nurse comes in and informs them that Katie has gone to her brother’s funeral! Stephanie begins to rant, “What is the doctor thinking?! She has so much rage!” Taylor wonders why Stephanie is so emotionally invested in this matter, and Steph explains that she feels somewhat responsible and that she thought she might be able to help Katie in some way. As Stephanie prepares to leave, Taylor compliments her on how dignified she behaved at the wedding. Stephanie laments that she didn’t behave that way beforehand –then perhaps, things might have been different! Taylor offers to lend an ear anytime she needs to talk. Stephanie smiles and says goodbye.
Back at the Forrester Mansion, Ridge and Eric chat and Ridge admits that he was there for Brooke, but down deep he doesn’t feel Storm deserved a memorial service. The sisters stand talking out on the terrace. They make a vow, in Storm’s name, to never put up a wall among themselves. Holding hands, they each say, “I promise.” Later, Stephen takes a picture of his daughters to show their mother. He asks if they’ll be alright while he’s in Paris. They say they will. Out on the terrace, Bridget reassures Nick about Katie being there. She embraces him. Inside, Marcus approaches Donna and tells her he is sorry about her brother – he could feel her pain at losing him! Donna thanks him, but looks confused. Next, Katie and Nick talk and she thanks him for bringing her there –she needed to come. “Thank you for being more stubborn than I am!” They hug and Brooke watches their close moment with interest.

. That is so childish. He's a very grown man and making a deal, hope it bites him where it hurts. I wonder if leaving the mansion is in the plan too if he loses the bet. That would be just too funny. I can see Dumma now carrying out all her leopard outfits. Just too funny.
