At Taylor's house, Rick asks if she is sure that she wants to go through with bringing Jack back to live with her. She asks him not to question her ability to care for her baby. Rick then asks if he can accompany her to pick up the baby - for moral support. She agrees and they leave.

At Nick's house, he continues to embrace Brooke. He asks if she loves him and she replies, "Yes. God, yes!" They begin to discuss Taylor wanting to take the baby when the door suddenly opens - it's Taylor and Rick. When Taylor sees Brooke she rolls her eyes, "Why aren't I surprised." Brooke confronts Taylor about wanting to take Jack out of his own father's home and Taylor tells her in no uncertain terms that it's time she realized that she has no say in what happens to baby Jack! Nick jumps in and says no one is questioning her rights as Jack's mother. An angry Taylor accuses Brooke of eagerly waiting for her to be out of the baby's life. Taylor further accuses Brooke of conspiring to have Nick's baby and ruin her marriage. Nick once again tells Taylor that no one is disputing that they are his parents. Rick steps forward and tells Nick that Taylor has worked very hard to be ready for the baby - she even baby-proofed the house. Brooke suggests that she and Rick leave Taylor and Nick alone to talk. Nick turns to Taylor. "Don't do this. Don't take him out of his home."

Stephanie arrives at the lab at Forrester. She says she has come to invite Ashley to her and Eric's anniversary party. Ashley feels it will be awkward, but Stephanie convinces her to come. When Stephanie tells her she should bring Ridge in on the new fragrance she's developing, Ashley informs Steph that she has a new inspiration these days - Rick! Stephanie is stunned! She tells Ashley that relationships like that generally don't work out. She intimates that Brooke and Ridge are having issues and that Nick is involved. Ashley informs Stephanie that she has no intention of going down that road again and getting hurt. Stephanie asks that she just be there for Ridge as a friend when Brooke walks away. Ashley agrees that she could do that, but she is interested in Rick. Stephanie declares that Rick is a sweet boy, but not man enough for her! She points out that Rick is much younger than Ashley. Ashley responds that they are two consenting adults - and anyway, she isn't comfortable discussing her personal relationships with her! She reminds Stephanie that she's been through a lot in the past year. "If I want to take a walk on the wild side with Rick or anybody else, I'm gonna damn well enjoy it!" Ashley heatedly reiterates that she isn't going to discuss her personal life with Stephanie. "If I want to go out with Rick, or...or...Gene in accounting, I will!" Stephanie smirks, "Gene in accounting?!" Ashley sighs, "He asked me out last week." Stephanie laughs. "If you're considering dating Gene in accounting I'd better have enough hope for the both of us!"

Out in the other room at Nick's house, Brooke and Rick hash it out over why he's supporting Taylor. Brooke maintains that she is an alcoholic and unstable. Rick says he came to make sure Nick didn't give Taylor a hard time - she deserves to be with her son... Out in the other room, Nick begs Taylor not to go through with this. He offers to let her see the baby as often as she likes - anytime, day or night! Taylor tells Nick the baby is going home with her - he needs to be with his mother!... Back in the other room, Rick tries to further his case that Taylor needs to be with the baby. As he and Brooke hear the baby crying they decided to go to him up the back way. Rick once again, reassures his mother that Taylor will take good care of Jack... Out in the living room, Taylor tells Nick that the baby is all she has left and that they will find a way to make this work - she promises! She asks him not to give her a hard time about this - she's taking Jack and she's leaving. She also asks that when the baby is in Nick's care he not allow Brooke near him. Just then, Brooke comes down the stairs carrying Jack with Rick trailing behind. Taylor asks Brooke to give her the baby. Nick tells Taylor that she cannot drink around the boy. Taylor becomes very agitated, but Nick nods at Brooke to give her the baby. Taylor and Rick leave with Jack. Brooke turns on Nick. "She's been drinking?!" Brooke pleads with Nick to get the baby back here where he knows he is safe. "You saw her, she's an emotional basket case! What if Jack starts crying and she starts drinking?!" Nick, calm and cool, tells Brooke, "She'll have one night with him. I'll have my son home tomorrow."
