Which eggs were fertilized? Will Rick's hidden secret get Ridge off the hook?

At the hospital, Bridget frantically reminds Taylor's doctor that both sets of eggs were taken up to the lab on the night Taylor was impregnated, and both were labelled "Marone". As the possible implications begin to dawn on her, Bridget cries, What if we used my Mother's eggs!?"
Curled on the couch at home, Taylor, suffering from morning-sickeness recieves a kiss and some crackers from a doting Nick. She tells him she got a call from the hospital and they have his jacket that he left behind at the ultrasound appointment. He says he'll go and pick it up right away. As he leaves he gently places a decorative urn in Taylor's lap, "Just in case..." he grins.
At the prison, Brooke pledges to help Ridge fight the charges against him or at least get them reduced. He reminds her that he has a criminal record, so it isn't likely that that will happen. Brooke says she has devised a plan.
Ashley is at work, but has drifted off into daydreams about making love to Rick in Mexico. Just then, Rick enters and says her name. She snaps out of her reverie as he offers her the information on the Mexican flowers she wanted to use in a new fragrance.

Taylor's doorbell rings and she rises to answer the door. Before she can get it all the way open, Stephanie barges inside. "Oh, what do you want?" Taylor sneers. "Taylor, you know we have to talk..." Stephanie begins. Taylor cuts her off by reminding her that she is no longer a part of their lives, or her life. "What Ridge did was an accident." Stephanie continues. "But, what you did to Nick was not!" an angry Taylor retorts.
At the hospital, Bridget continues to pace and panic over the possibility that her Mother's eggs may have been switched with Taylor's eggs. The doctor tries to tell her that speculating is pointless. As Bridget's adrenaline rises, the doctor hurries away to request a check on the records from the night of the fertilization.
In her lab, Ash makes small talk with Rick about what it must have been like to grow up with Brooke as a mother. She calls Brooke "dynamic" and "interesting", as Rick grins. Seriously, he says it was fun, but there was always a different man around. "Didn't your parents split up too?" he asks Ash. She says they did - her mother left when she was only 10 years old. She agrees that it was really a rough time. Rick continues to say that there was alot of drama in their household, and he and Bridget would always have to pick up the pieces for Brooke when things went downhill. I love my mother, he muses, but it wasn't a stable upbringing.
Back at prison, Brooke has filled Ridge in on her plan, and he is asking her how they could consider putting Rick through "that". She tells him there is no alternative. If RJ is to have a father, they will have to go through with her plan. "Even if it could severely damage RJ's brother?" Ridge wants to know. "You have to agree to fight this Ridge," Brooke insists, "or you'll be in prison until you're seventy years old!"
As the doctor holds a telephone conversation, requesting the records from the night of the Marone fertilization, Nick enters the room at the hospital. The doctor ends the call and beats a hasty retreat, leaving Bridget to make nervous small talk with Nick. He explains that he came for his jacket and mentions that Taylor is experiencing some morning sickness. Bridget assures him that it's normal. "It's just strange," Nick says, "because she didn't have morning sickness with any of her other pregnancies." Although Bridget again assures him that every preganancy is different, a look of dread comes over her face.
"I'm sorry you hate me." Stephanie blurts to Taylor. A fed-up Taylor asks, "What do you want? Sympathy?!" Go ahead, be angry, says Steph, but we have to help Ridge. "That's right!" chimes in a voice. Brooke has entered Taylor's house and is backing up Stephanie. Taylor can't believe they are overlooking how Nick was wronged. Brooke insists that Taylor can help Ridge. "How?", Taylor asks, exasperated. "By getting Rick to remember that he shot Grant" Brooke replies to a stunned Taylor.
Meanwhile, at the lab, Rick has just mentioned to Ashley a man that was in his mother's life that he particularly didn't like, who was definitely not a father-figure. Ash asks about this man, but Rick ominously replies, "Some things are better left buried."
In the hospital, Nick prepares to leave, adding that he's sure Bridget must be very busy. Just then the lab tech sticks his head in the door. A frantic Bridget gets rid of him fast. Before Nick leaves, he thanks Bridget for her support on behalf of both himself and Taylor, making Bridget feel even worse about the possible mix-up.
In Taylor's living room Brooke tells Stephanie and Taylor that since the goal is no longer "peace" between Ridge and Rick, they can go ahead and try to get Rick to remember his culpability. "The stakes are higher now." she insists. Taylor argues that Rick was traumatized and may not be able to remember, or remember in time to help Ridge. "This is your son, do you really want to put him through this?" she asks Brooke. "Whatever Rick has to go through it won't be worse than what Ridge will go through in prison." a resolute Brooke answers.
Phoebe, meanwhile, has arrived at prison to visit with Ridge. "This is no place for you." he says to her. "It's no place for you either, Dad." she answers. She tells him she's trying to stay positive and justs wants to get him out of jail. She also shares that she is still taking things slowly with Rick. She doesn't want Ridge worrying about those kinds of things, she just wants him to come home.
Rick has tried to instigate another conversation with Ashley about "what happened". "We've been through alot together," he begins, "I know you don't think it's over.." He is cut-off by the ringing of the phone. Ash answers and says she'll be right over. After she hangs up, Rick says he doesn't want any awkward feelings. Ash slips of her coat revealing sexy spaghetti straps. Rick comes in close behind her shoulder and whispers to stop driving him crazy with whatever it is she's doing. "I'm not doing anything." Ash answers in a business-like tone and leaves abruptly.
Brooke continues to persuade Taylor to help Ridge's cause by trying to get Rick to remember the truth about the past shooting. "We trust you, Taylor." she pleads. Taylor finally agrees, but promises nothing. Steph is ready to call the D.A., but the other two talk her out of it. They realize that no one would believe them. The confession must come from Rick on his own and not seem coerced. Taylor reminds Steph and Brooke that Rick may never remember...
Back at prison, Ridge is teasing Phoebe about becoming a 'rock star'. He warns her not to sign any contracts - she is still needed at work. "A girl needs a little free time." she jokes. "What? To see Rick?" Ridge asks sternly. Although she says she doesn't want to talk about it, Ridge can't resist reminding her that Rick's life is complicated, and that isn't about to change....
Bridget, in her office, is surrounded by the IVF staff, who have just confirmed that BOTH sets of eggs were in the lab on the night in question, and both were labelled Marone. Bridget is shouting and coming apart. "How could this happen!" she screams. She whirls around to face the lab technician, "Do you remember anything that will help?" Sheepishly, the tech tells her that he remembers thinking it was strange that she was using her mother's eggs. "Are you sure?" Bridget gasps. "90 percent sure." he replies. As Taylor's doctor says that since there is a 10 percent chance the other eggs were used, they cannot really know whose eggs were fertilized, tears spring into a devastated Bridget's eyes...
