Half Full or Half Empty?

Thursday, October 30 2008

At the hospital, Rick tells Bridget and his mother that he had trouble sleeping, but he doesn’t want sleeping pills. The doctor comes in and tells him he’s young and strong and the only concern they have is the swelling around his spinal cord. He tests Rick’s legs again and Rick’s foot moves. Everyone is thrilled that Rick is starting to regain feeling in his legs. The doctor says things are looking better, but Rick points out that he still can’t move his legs. The doctor tells him it’s a good sign that he at least has feeling and Brooke thinks the glass if half full. Rick also gets word that he can leave the hospital. Brooke is thrilled, but Rick says one day at a time. He asks his sister to arrange his release and Bridget wonders where he’ll stay. Brooke insists he come home with her, but Rick won’t live there if Ridge is still living in the house. He insists Ridge tried to kill him, but Brooke says it was an accident. Rick is worried about the damage Ridge could do to her and he won’t allow anything to happen to her. Rick can’t believe Brooke is still considering marrying Ridge and Bridget interjects saying she will take Rick home with her and help him recover.

You Stole My Mommy!

Monday, October 27 2008

Rick is devastated upon realizing he’s paralyzed. Bridget urges the doctor to run more tests to see if he overlooked anything and Ridge comes closer to Rick saying, “I can’t believe this.” Brooke asks Bridget about the new tests, but Rick says he can’t walk so no more tests need to be run. He declares, “I am an invalid!” Bridget says his condition will be temporary and Brooke is relieved. Rick asks, “Is that how you will forgive Ridge in six months?” Ridge says it was an accident, but Rick won’t let him off the hook. Rick demands that Ridge leave the room, noting Ridge finally got what he wanted. Ridge insists he never wanted this to happen because he is Brooke’s son and he helped raise him. Rick spits out that Ridge stole his mother from him and thinks he could have had a better childhood if Ridge had left Brooke alone. He accuses Ridge of waffling between Brooke and Taylor throughout his childhood and he and Bridget suffered for it. Bridget says it was a long time ago, but Rick blames Ridge for everything. He thinks Ridge only noticed him as a child when he was in the way and now Ridge is interfering with the women in his life, namely Ashley, Phoebe and Taylor. Rick tells Ridge he will never ruin another thing for him or take another thing away from him. “Now get the hell out," Rick demands. Bridget thinks they all should give Rick some space and Brooke and Ridge leave the room, as Bridget tries to console her brother.

Out in the hall, Ridge tells Brooke that Rick is in shock, angry and hurt. Ridge hopes it helped Rick to lash out at him, but Brooke wonders how they will get through this. Ridge thinks in time Rick will realize it was an accident. Bridget comes to them and says the tests revealed that there is no physical damage to Rick, but there’s swelling and that’s probably what is causing the paralysis. Everyone is relieved and Ridge tells Brooke that Rick will recover, and so will they. Ridge asks Brooke if she believes that he didn’t mean to hurt Rick. Brooke knows Ridge would never intentionally hurt him and says the three of them will all work through this because she needs Ridge now more than she ever has.

The Best is Yet to Come.

Friday, October 24 2008

Brooke and Bridget welcome a surprisingly jovial Rick back to life. Ridge says he’s relieved to have him back and Rick changes his mood as he asks, “What the hell are you doing here?”

Rick says he could have been killed, but Ridge says it was an accident. Rick angrily tells his family it was not accident and demands that Ridge leave. Bridget gets Brooke and Ridge out of the room and tells Rick to calm down because he is not out of the woods yet.

The doctor comes to tell Rick that he hasn’t sustained any major injuries and both he and Brooke are relieved. Ridge stands at the door and watches as the doctor tests Rick’s legs. Rick doesn’t feel anything when the doctor runs an object over his legs, which should register a prickly sensation. Rick grabs his legs and says, “I can’t feel it? I’m paralyzed? Oh my God!” Brooke cries as she shakes her head at Ridge, who can’t believe what’s happening.

This Is What I've Become.

Thursday, October 23 2008

Rick is wheeled into the hospital and Bridget sees him. As she takes him to be examined, Ridge runs in and Brooke meets him. Brooke sees the bruises and scratches on Ridge’s face and asks if he and Rick fought. Ridge promises it wasn’t like in Australia, but Brooke demands to know what happened. He starts to explain, but Bridget comes out and says the doctor scanned him to get an initial read of Rick’s injuries and things look good so far.

Brooke goes in to see Rick who is unconscious and Ridge looks on through the window in the door. Ridge comes in the room and Bridget enters asking what the police wanted. Brooke is shocked to hear the police are involved and Ridge says they left their card for when Rick wakes up so he can give a statement. Brooke cries for her son to wake up, saying she can’t lose a child and begs Rick to open his eyes. Rick’s eyes start to flutter and he sees Brooke and Bridget. Brooke tells Rick he’s in the hospital, but he’ll be just fine. Rick asks what happened and Brooke says he had a bad fall. She tells him to focus on getting better and getting his strength back as Ridge looks on guilt ridden.

My Devoted Wife.

Wednesday, October 01 2008

Bridget and Brooke are in Brooke’s house and Brooke asks how she’s doing. Bridget says she feels like she dodged a bullet. She wishes she had figured things out before the wedding, but better now than five years from now. She says it really hurts, but she’s relieved – no more fairytales or illusions. Brooke hugs her daughter as Ridge enters the house. They discuss her moving in, but Bridget declines. She is happy she can depend on both of them and Brooke tells her, as her mother she will always be there for her.

No More Shoulders to Cry On.

Thursday, September 25 2008

Katie is sewing on the couch when Bridget enters Brooke’s house. She asks if Brooke is back yet and Katie says she’s upstairs. Bridget is surprised Katie didn’t move in with Nick and Katie says they can barely even look at each other. Bridget informs Katie that she’s filed for divorce, but Katie protests that Nick loves her. Bridget thinks he’ll get over it and admits that she’ll probably miss Jack more than she’ll miss Nick. Bridget doesn’t want to wait around for Brooke any longer and says she’s leaving. Katie stops her saying she misses her. Katie knows it’s a lot to ask, but she hopes they can be friends again. Bridget says she’s cleared the way for her and Nick and that’s all she’s getting out of her. She curtly tells Katie that shoulders to cry on are in short supply and leaves the house.
