Delusions.

Back at the baby shower, Felicia asks Ashley if she and Ridge are thinking of sneaking off to Paris to elope. Ashley dryly assures her they're not. Felicia wonders where Brooke and Donna could be. Ashley says under her breath, "I know where she'd better not be!"

Memory Lane

Ashley goes to Eric's office to talk with him about the awkwardness of her and Brooke working for the same company. He reassures her about her value within Forrester Creations. Ashley then advises him to keep it down about his opinion that Brooke and Ridge are meant to be. He tells her he has just noticed a pattern over time. Ashley, hand on hip, informs Eric that she's with Ridge and she's not going anywhere!

Still in his office, Eric tells Ashley that Ridge needs a strong woman in his life. She tells him that Ridge has been spending time with Brooke to assauge his guilt over Stephanie's role in the attack and to get her in rape counseling. He acknowledges that they both feel guilty. She asks about Stephanie's whereabouts. He says he really doesn't know, and frankly he's getting worried, they all are... Ash leaves and Donna comes in. When she asks about his conversation with Thorne, he teases her that he's disappointed in her for not listening at the door. She thanks him for defending her to Thorne, and says that he just wants his parents to stay together. She wonders out loud about what's going to happen when Stephanie walks through the door.

Ashley is in bed when Ridge creeps into the room and sits on the bedside and gives her a kiss. She asks how it went with Brooke, he declines to talk about it... Ashley senses something strange in his demeanor. At home, Brooke finds a picture that fell out of the album and picks it up and gazes at it. At the same time, Ridge is getting into bed next to Ashley, but seemingly emotionally unsettled, doesn't lay down, and doesn't touch his fiancee...

Don't Fall For That Trap!

Ashley is still wincing from Brooke's slap, she says, "How dare you!" Brooke replies, "No, how dare you! Suggesting that I used my rape to get close to Ridge. You should be ashamed!"

Ashley tells Brooke, "What that man did to you was vile!" Brooke spits, "You have a lovely way of expressing it!" Ashley continues, "I'm sorry, lo0ok, what I meant was Ridge let you lean on him when you were most vulnerable,and when I found out I supported that, and I support you as colleagues and as parents, but I do not support you taking advantage of this situation." Brooke interrupts, "You're crossing the line again!" Ashley screams, "No! You're crossing the line! When you ask him to sit in on your therapy sessions, when you ask him to drive up to Big Bear. If something like that happens in the future I hope you have the good sense to call..." Brooke rages, "If?! Are you questioning me?!" Ash says, "Stop taking my words and twisting them around. Listen to what I have to say, my fiance cannot be the sole person you turn to when you think you need help. You think you need him, but you don't. Would you like a list of the other people that know what happened to you so you can call one of them? Unless, of course, you're trying to send me a message that everytime you send out distress signals he'll come running, which only proves my point." Brooke says, "Yes, Ridge still cares about me!" Ashley paces, "Because of your kids, Brooke, and he's a decent human being, but don't mistake that as an invitation to help yourself!" Brooke glares, "You are so naive about what's really between us." Ash rolls her eyes, "Oh I've heard it, believe me I've heard it - Your love for Ridge is legendary, this week, what about next week when a better offer comes along!" Brooke says she wishes Ridge could hear Ashley right now. Ash says he'd recognize that she's smart enough to see through Brooke's blatant attempts to manipulate.. Brooke, hands on hip, says,"Manipulate, you want to talk to me about manipulation? That's Stephanie's game, not mine. And she put you right in the middle of it. You're her little pawn." Ashley asks, "What are you saying, that because she prefers me as a daughter-in-law, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to apologize for that." Brooke continues, "You have no idea what this woman is capable of, none! She is using you in her plot. If I was with somebody else, Ridge would be free to be with you, so she sent Andy, that animal, after me. That is how sick and twisted she really is. Because she knows the power that Ridge and I share - and I believe that you know it too!"

Ashley is incredulous, "You're telling me Stephanie set you up to be raped?!" Brooke replies, "If you don't believe me ask Ridge. She sought the man out, sent him to my house, told him that my kids had been taken from me, how vulnerable I was, and even told him where the key was to my front door. Your best friend, Stephanie Forrester is an accessory to what happened to me." Ash counters, "Do you actually think that she meant for you to be raped? I can't believe she would do something that horrible." Brooke says, "Well, maybe she didn't know it would go that far, but I was raped and it was the worst hours of my life! All so Ridge could be with someone sweet like you." Ashley muses, "So that's why he's been spending so much time with you, he feels guilty about his mother's involvement." Brooke is flustered, "No Ashley, he's been spending time with me because he loves me, why can't you.." Ashley holds up her hand, "I'm trying very hard to make sense of all this, it's pretty convoluted don't you think?" Brooke replies, "No it's really simple, you would be an ideal wife for Ridge, in Stephanie's mind, but you're not what he needs, not what he wants. He needs someone who excites him, who understands him and Ridge and I we share a child together.." Ashley rolls her head back, "Oh, c'mon..." Brooke raises her voice, "And don't you dare say I'm using my little boy, I don't need to do that, and Ridge doesn't need to reach out to me, he wants to, that's why he came up to Big Bear last night. My needs will always come before yours, is that the kind of marriage you want? You really should talk to Taylor about this. Because Ridge and I are a fact you will have to deal with every single day! Ask yourself that!

Ridge comes into the office where Ashley is, "I owe you an explanation for why I went to Big Bear last night." Ash responds, "Because of your mother? Brooke told me that she knew Andy Johnson and that she encouraged him, is that true?" Ridge says, "Unfortunately yes, mother says she never intended for Brooke to get hurt, but she didn't check out what kind of guy she was sending over to Brooke." Ashley muses, "No wonder, you didn't want to open all this up with me..." Ridge still can't believe that his mother could do something like this. Ashley looks at him, "So you're spending all this time with Brooke out of guilt, your not responsible. You don't have to go on paying penance by being on call 24/7."

Ashley softens toward Ridge, "You're such a compassionate man, that's one of the things I love about you, but all this time your spending with Brooke is not such a good thing." Ridge agrees, "You're right, I do feel guilty." Ashley continues, "I know you want to help her, but I think she's misreading your intent." Ridge is unsure, "Misreading?" Ashley explains, "Yeah, she put me on notice, Ridge. She said what the two of you share is more profound than what we'll ever have together and I should accept that. She was pretty blunt. I know you want to help her, but we're getting married. Do you want her clinging to the hope that you're going to get back together everytime you go to her rescue? Cause that's what she's thinking."

Ashley continues to tell Ridge that he's not doing Brooke any favors by always saying yes to her. She acknowledges that he got her in to counseling, but feels he's sending her mixed signals. It's up to Brooke to follow through,and if she needs someone to see her through, sit in her sessions, what about one of her sisters, or Bridget? Ridge asks if this is really bothering her. She tells him, yes, it does. Ashley says she knows he wants the best for Brooke, and she does too, just consider what I'm saying. Ridge reminds her that she knew what she was getting into with Brooke and him - there's alot of history there. But he also acknowledges that she couldn't have forseen it being this complicated. Ashley agrees that it is extraordinary circumstances, but Brooke is strong, and in the end Brooke's going to have to help herself. Ridge agrees. Ashley asks, "So will you talk to her about the counseling sessions?" Brooke enters right then and asks Ridge if he's ready to go. Ridge tells Brooke that he feels he can only help her so far and he thinks she should go to the session on your own. Brooke complains, "But you said you'd be there." He apologizes her for leading to believe that he could be there for all of her sessions, but tells her he really thinks she should do this on her own. Brooke says quietly, "Okay I'll go alone." She glares at Ashley pointedly as she leaves. Ridge turns and looks at Ashley too.
