Marcus and some other employees bring up a couple of crates to the roof and Marcus tells his mother the shoe samples she requested are here. Through binoculars, Pam watches and says to herself, “Think you can just slither back into Eric’s life? No way. Today you die!” Donna gets sidetracked by another employee, so Marcus opens the crate. A snake pops out of the crate and bites Marcus. Stephanie comes up to the roof as Donna cradles Marcus, who has collapsed, and yells for someone to call 911, all while Pam watches from a distance.
As Donna begs Eric to give her another chance, Eric says he had every intention of asking her for a divorce. Donna points out that he hasn’t done that and thinks it’s because he still loves her. Eric doesn’t disagree, but says he’s afraid that’s not enough. Donna thinks love is always enough and can get you through anything. Eric says without trust it’s just need and habit and Donna says that’s why he stayed with Stephanie all these years. Donna insists Stephanie can’t make him happy like she has and says their marriage deserves another chance. Eric responds that this isn’t about Stephanie; it’s about what she did. Donna reminds him that his family didn’t allow her to see him, but Eric thinks they just did it for the sake of his recovery. Donna asks if he is grateful and Eric says he is. Donna understands that he wants to reward his family for their loyalty and recalls that they always believed that she would cheat on him. Eric never thought she would, but she proved him wrong. Donna thinks there must still be hope for them. Eric says this is where he needs to be right now and Donna asks him not to close the door on their relationship. She says they could still have everything they ever dreamed of and kisses him before she leaves the room.
Donna comes downstairs and tells the family that Eric didn’t ask her for a divorce. Stephanie points out that he didn’t ask her to stay either. Donna says she asked for a second chance and Eric is thinking about it. Stephanie asks her children to leave them alone and once they leave, Stephanie pointedly tells Donna no matter what she believes, her marriage to Eric is over. Stephanie tells Donna that all the years she and Eric have shared far outweigh Donna’s marriage to him. She insists she will end up with Eric, but Donna counters that he is still her husband and it is not over! Donna knows what Stephanie is capable of to get what she wants, but doubts Stephanie knows what she is capable of. If there is still a breath in her body Donna will not give up on her marriage to Eric!
Donna answers her phone and is surprised to hear Eric’s voice. He asks her to come to the house and Donna rushes out.
Felicia and Thorne urgently tell Stephanie that Eric called Donna to come over. When Donna comes to the door, Stephanie calmly allows Donna to enter and go to Eric’s room. Felicia and Thorne are shocked their mother allowed Donna access to Eric.
Donna comes to Eric’s room and Eric tells her the doctor says he’s ready to go to the office. Donna notes she always knew this would happen. Eric says he sees things more clearly now and Donna takes this as a sign of hope. She knew he couldn’t forget what they shared and tells him he is all she thinks about and grabs his hand. Eric responds that he’s been thinking about her too and then loosens her grip on him. He tells her he learned how much time she spent with him in the hospital, but notes that she had other things to take care of as well. Donna admits it, saying she took care of the house and the business and did it all for him. Laced with anger, Eric says, “My loving devoted wife.” He then shows her a photo of her and Owen in a magazine from when they were in Paris. The caption on the photo reads, “Mrs. Eric Forrester does the City of Lights with the new man in her life.” Eric spits out that it’s insulting and demeaning. Donna dismisses it as gossip and tells him what he saw wasn’t what it looked like, explaining all she and Owen did was kiss, but Eric still calls it betrayal. Donna tries to explain her actions, but Eric doesn’t want to hear it. He tells her the one thing he would not tolerate was cheating and explains that there are all kinds of infidelity, including emotional. Donna continues to defend herself saying she never gave Owen her heart because it has always belonged to him. She tells him he is the only thing that has ever made sense in her life. Eric informs Donna that he has made his decision and Donna tearfully asks if he’s going to leave her and go back to Stephanie.
Stephanie finds Owen at a restaurant and questions why Donna keeps lying about being with him, to which Owen replies, "She's not lying, we never slept together." Owen admits his feelings for Donna, but is adamant about defending her - and her love for Eric. Suddenly, Donna appears and sees Stephanie and Owen talking, but ducks out of view. Back at the table, Stephanie laughs as she tells Owen that Eric wants nothing to do with Donna, and now he'll have all the time in the world to love her!
After Stephanie leaves, Donna approaches the table and demands, "What the hell was that about? What did you just say to Stephanie?" As Donna continues ranting, Owen can't believe that she thinks he would stab her in the back! "I told Stephanie the truth, that we never slept together," Owen says. "I also told her that I'm madly in love with you. I can't lie about that." Though Owen begs for her to give them a chance, and suggests that Eric and Stephanie may be meant to be together, Donna refuses his plea - and his touch - and vows to get her husband back!
As Donna begs for Eric’s forgiveness, he asks Donna how long he was in a coma. When he learns it was just two months, he asks why she couldn’t wait for him. She tells him it was like an eternity to her and she was confused and alone at the house. She was overwhelmed and felt like she was in a dark tunnel with no way out. Donna tells him Ridge tried to take the company and that he wanted to take Eric off the ventilator. She says she wouldn’t let Ridge do it and Owen was the only person who sided with her. She explains that he was a friend, but what she felt for Owen was meaningless compared to what she feels for him. What Eric saw was a woman mourning the loss of her husband. She tearfully tells him she never stopped loving him and begs him to understand. Donna tells Eric her and Owen were a mistake and she regrets it more than he could ever know. She loves him and wants to nurse him back to health so they can get back to their life together.
Eric seems sympathetic to Donna, but tells her he’s different now and older, but Donna tells him she wants only him and kisses him. Thorne and Stephanie bust in and pull Donna off Eric. Stephanie gets Donna out of the room, while Thorne stays behind.
