Donna sits by Eric’s bedside while he is still unresponsive and tells him she’s leaving, but begs him to come back to her. She tells him she would wait for him forever, but if he can’t come back to her, she knows he would want her to find happiness. She cries as she kisses Eric on the lips and says, “Goodbye, my love.”
Owen boards the plane and Donna notes this is his first time on a private jet. Owen admits it and can’t believe he is going to Paris. Donna worries that she will screw up things in Paris, but Owen assures her that she’ll be fine and that Eric will be proud of her. He says Ridge must have faith in her as well, since he encouraged her to go.
Donna and Owen make out on her bed and Donna stops, saying she can’t stop thinking about Eric. Owen says it’s understandable, but Eric told her he wanted her to find happiness if something happened to him. Donna reminds him that Eric is still alive, but Owen tells her that they can make each other happy. Donna says she wants to be with him, but she can’t yet because she is still Eric’s wife. Owen tells her that Eric loves her and wouldn’t want her to be lonely. This seems to convince Donna, as she eagerly kisses Owen.
Owen and Donna get hot and heavy as someone walks up the stairs. It’s Stephanie who comes to Donna’s bedroom door and shockingly sees her and Owen getting passionate.
At the house, Owen tells Donna that all charges against him have been dropped. Donna thanks him again for saving her and says she isn’t sure what to do now. Owen suggests she soak in the tub and he will make her something to eat.
After her soak, Donna looks at a photo of Eric in her room and recalls Eric telling her to go on with her life should something happen to him. Owen comes in with some tea and tells her that she doesn’t have to be afraid because he won’t let anyone hurt her again. Donna says Eric was so good, but she is not. Owen tells her she is a lot better than she thinks she is and there is definite sexual tension between them. Owen breaks the moment and tells Donna to get some rest, but Donna thinks she should call to check on Eric. Owen assures her he is in good hands and Donna gets in bed. Owen watches her as she closes her eyes and he recalls their kiss. He tells her he will be downstairs and to call if she needs anything. He starts to leave the room, but looks back at her and walks towards her. Donna sits up and Owen sits down on the bed. He touches her face and they kiss.
Owen follows Donna outside the cabin where she apologizes for not going through with their interlude, explaining that she’s married and loves her husband. She hears noises and freaks out thinking the bear or Pam is still out there. Owen tells her she has nothing to worry about, but assures her that even if Pam does come back, he won’t let her hurt her. Donna says she was so wrong about him and says this is the first time in weeks she has felt safe. She compares his confidence and ability to make her feel safe to Eric. She says she was so dependent on Eric and understands why he made it a point to tell her to move on with her life if anything happened to him. She thought he would come out of the coma and things would be the way they used to be, but now she doesn’t know if that will happen. She says Eric made her significant and Owen assures her that she is. Donna says “thank you” doesn’t seem like enough for what he did for her. She looks to the sky and says if Eric’s spirit is up there, he’s grateful to him too. Owen wonders if she’s waiting for a message from Eric and she says, even though it’s silly, she is. They see a shooting star and Donna thinks it’s a sign from Eric saying, “Life is meant to be lived; to be loved” and she kisses Owen. Donna says they better get back down the mountain and then looks at her wedding ring. Owen tells her she has every reason to hope Eric will get better and she should keep it up because her prayers might be answered.
Donna freaks out when she sees Pam pointing the gun at her and recalls all the threats and bad things she’s done to her in the past. Donna accuses her of poisoning Eric, but Pam says it’s all her fault because she wouldn’t allow Stephanie and Eric to be together.
At the cabin, Pam gets the better of Donna and rubs honey all over her. Pam then opens the door and the bear comes in! Just when the bear approaches Donna, roaring, Owen comes in and distracts the bear by banging together some pots and pans, tosses some food out the door then shuts it tight after the bear leaves - and Pam, still holding the shotgun, leaves too! Owen unties Donna just as Ridge and Brooke, Marcus and Steffy arrive at Big Bear. After Owen takes Donna into the bathroom to clean up, Ridge tells Marcus that he was right to believe in Owen. Before Steffy and Marcus leave, Ridge reminds them that Pam is still out there - and that they should be careful!
Inside the bedroom, with Donna all cleaned up, she thanks Owen for being there, to which Owen professes his love to Donna and says they are meant to be! Donna accepts a kiss from Owen and lies down on the bed, as Owen holds her close and wipes away her fear with his kiss.
