I’m Free of You!

After much difficulty, Taylor puts Jack down to sleep and tells Rick he’s an angel for everyone but her. She says it’s been going on for too long and Rick tells her he will take over for her. Taylor says she’s his mother, she should do it and they hear Jack start to cry. Taylor gets upset and Rick offers to go check on the baby. Rick comes back and says Jack is asleep. Taylor acknowledges that he went to sleep easily for Rick and says she’s been in denial thinking this isn’t a problem. She wonders why she can’t comfort her own child and Rick says there’s nothing wrong with her. Taylor doesn’t think she is what’s best for her son and thinks that is very frightening. Rick thinks back to asking Taylor if she can ever look at Jack without thinking of Brooke. Rick then tells Taylor he knows she loves her baby, but asks, “Where’s the joy? Where’s the wonder? Where’s the awe of holding your child in your arms?” Rick points out that she’s not feeling it and she knows it.

It Must be the Nutmeg.

Owen tells Donna, “Good for you,” while Brooke asks her to reconsider. Donna refuses and Pam barges in yelling at Donna for firing Eric’s children. She asks if she’s getting fired too and Donna says it’s not what Eric would want, but she will be moving downstairs to general reception. Donna states that Owen will be taking care of all her needs.

Walk on the Wild Side!

At Taylor's house, Rick asks if she is sure that she wants to go through with bringing Jack back to live with her. She asks him not to question her ability to care for her baby. Rick then asks if he can accompany her to pick up the baby - for moral support. She agrees and they leave.

Back to the Courtroom.

At Ridge's house, Bridget and Rick are playing with Hope and R.J. Phoebe calls from Insomnia and asks how things are going. He tells her that he really feels like he should stay with the kids, but he doesn't want to forfeit the signing contest. Phoebe says that she'll talk to Constantine. After he hangs up, Bridget asks him what he thinks is going on in the hearing. Rick says that he just hopes that Taylor shows up and counteracts everything that Stephanie says.

Stephanie Noses About.

From his office, Rick is taking calls on both his cell and landline phones. He's hard at work ordering silks and arranging for transportation. Stephanie comes in to see him and is delighted that he's so involved in the new business. He tells her that he wants it to succeed for his father's sake � and only his sake. Rick tells Stephanie that her antics with Jackie have caused a lot of damage to the Forrester name overseas. She tells him that he's old enough to know that life gets a little messy sometimes. Rick warns her that Nick Marone has a strategy and isn't to be taken lightly.

As Phoebe is daydreaming about Rick, he walks in and finds her in her underwear. Phoebe is embarrassed and tells him to never do that again. He tells her that he's been in the fashion business for a long time and seeing models in their undies is no big deal. "Undies�or less," she snips. He's come to tell her what a great time he had at the party. She tells him that he's probably had lots of fun parties. He asks her why she's in "a mood", and she denies it. Then she blurts out that he's nothing but a sexy playboy.

Brooke Gets Her Wish.

Phoebe has brought her gown over to Ridge and Brooke's place to get dressed there. She's having troubles with her zipper and calling out for Brooke, but Rick is the one who hears her. He tells her that he is an expert at zippers, and helps her out. As they talk, he promises to try to be supportive tonight, but won't do what his mother asked � to sing a song. He says he doesn't trust himself not to mess up "their" song by singing "�unforgiveable, that's what you've done�" (Instead of "Unforgettable, that's what you are.")

The party is getting underway and before Rick gets in the door, Ridge pulls him aside and tells him to stay away from Phoebe. Rick starts to argue, but Stephanie makes a toast. Keeping Thorne and Taylor in mind, she toasts "Not every couple is as fortunate as you are." Rick is brooding in the corner, but no one seems to notice. Eventually the piano player starts playing, people start dancing and then Brooke makes a request. She asks Rick to sing their song. He agrees, but only if Phoebe will join him. Then he cracks that they've heard the song enough times, they all know the words by now.
He sings his verse beautifully. Then, Phoebe stands next to him and sings hers beautifully. They start out facing Brooke and Ridge, but eventually turn and face each other (as if expressing their own feelings to one another.)

Rick and Phoebe have walked outside to get away from the party. Rick tells Phoebe that they sounded really good together. He says that it came from a primal and sensual place. "Singing cuts through the garbage and gets to the core of who we are," he tells her. Phoebe is quiet. Inside, the rest of the family marvels over what a surprise it is to learn that "Ricky" can sing. (No one seems to notice that Phoebe can.) Bridget jokingly asks everyone if they noticed how Phoebe was looking at Rick while singing. Brooke says that she thinks Phoebe might have a little crush and announces that Ridge is a bit overprotective about it. "Wonder where he got that?" Felicia kiddingly poked at Eric.

Ridge finds Rick. He tells him that if he ever crosses the line with Phoebe�he'll kill him.

Somebody's a Little Paranoid.

Rick is lifting weights and singing an opera song in his room. Brooke has come into his room, but he doesn't know it. When he finishes, she is thrilled to hear the results of the voice lessons that he's been taking while in Europe. Brooke wants him to share his gift with the family, but Rick wants to keep it quiet for now. Brooke switches the subject to tonight's party for her and Ridge. She imagines the whole family together; with Eric at the piano�she would love for Rick to sing, but he says no way.
