Everyone in the Forrester living room looks up at Phoebe's star on top of the tree. Taylor says this is where she belongs - where else would she be? Brooke and Taylor speak to Hope, explaining how they will remember Phoebe in their hearts. Taylor says enough crying - Phoebe loved to make popcorn and bake cookies, so that's what they'll do. Taylor says the holiday traditions are what bond them all and will get her through this. They all gather around to pop corn around the fire. Thorne hangs back and watches Eric interact with the children. Stephanie comes over to him and notes that Eric is the biggest kid in the room. Thorne tells his mother that Eric loves her - no matter what happens. Ridge stands to make a speech before they eat. He says he sees Phoebe, and the memory of others they have lost, all around there, and that he's grateful for all of the family gathered there. This time it's Rick who hangs back awkwardly.
Inside the Forrester house, Bridget finishes reading to the kids and Taylor brings out the stockings for the children to hang. Brooke catches Rick's eye and he smiles briefly at her. Steffy is melancholy as she hangs her stocking up. Taylor takes out Phoebe's stocking - the last one in the box - and Ridge embraces her as she grimaces in pain. She puts it back in and Ridge holds her again.
Inside, Taylor thanks Stephanie for being her rock. They embrace. Taylor turns and says she thanks God for this whole family. She says this is what Phoebe would want - for them to be celebrating their family. She says for the first time since she lost Phoebe, she's feeling joy instead of pain. "Merry Christmas to all of you." With that, Eric heads back to the piano and they all join in a rousing rendition of "Joy To the World!"
Our Star Will Shine Forever
Thorne asks Eric if it was Donna he was speaking to on the phone. Eric confirms that it was, and Thorne apologizes, asking when Eric will tell Stephanie. Eric says after Christmas. They watch as a star is placed on the tree that Hope made for Phoebe. Suddenly, Eric notices that Rick has come in with gifts for the kids. Eric wants him to stay and hand them out himself. As he hesitates, Steffy notices him and becomes angry that he's there. Bridget tells her that the lab results showed that Phoebe was attacking Rick while they were driving and that's why the car went off the road! Stephanie walks over to Eric and Rick. Eric says Rick is welcome and that is final. When Eric walks away, Stephanie calls Rick a SOB! Brooke is indignant! Outside the door, Ridge tries to get Taylor to come inside, but she won't. Ridge enters and looks at Rick - and sighs. They all gather around the piano and sing carols. Taylor slowly comes inside and joins in, embracing Thomas and Steffy, then Ridge. He points out the star on the tree to her. A framed photo of Phoebe sits on the piano, and Hope asks Taylor if she likes the star. Taylor tells Hope that it's perfect, and Phoebe is in the stars, and in this room, she's everywhere. "Merry Christmas, Phoebe."
Help Me Help You.
Donna tells the kids to run upstairs and brush their teeth for bed. The kids do as they're told and once Donna is alone again, Pam returns. Donna continues to try and ‘help’ Pam, but Pam laughs and thinks she just wants to see her dead. Donna says she just doesn’t want to see anyone get hurt, especially the children. Pam makes references to how cute Hope is and Donna tells her that Stephanie would be horrified if she did anything to the kids. Pam says if Donna tells Eric to go back to Stephanie, everyone will be safe. Pam instructs Donna to tell Eric she wants to be with Owen, but Donna doesn't think she can be that convincing. Pam urges Donna to give the performance of a lifetime so that she can fulfill her purpose on this earth, which is to reunite Eric and Stephanie. Pam recounts watching her father abuse Stephanie when they were kids and regrets that she couldn’t do anything to help her sister, but notes that Stephanie saved her from similar abuse. The doorbell rings and Pam warns Donna about saying anything or else she will be sorry and she hides.
You Want Me To Do What?
Brooke, RJ and Hope come to the cabin and the kids are excited to see Jack. They run to play with him and Jack seems to respond. Brooke asks Rick why he came up when he knew she would be there. Rick tells his mother that they need to do what’s best for Jack. He says it’s not working with Taylor and Jack because something is missing and Brooke thinks it’s because Taylor is always tense around him. Rick says they need to figure out what’s best for Jack and Taylor starts to cry. Brooke shockingly asks if Taylor is considering letting her be a mother to Jack.
Purpose and Determination.
At Brooke’s house, Beth brings Hope and Katie cookies. Katie tells her that they are wonderful, but Beth says to thank Brooke because she found the recipe in her box. Katie says it’s Beth’s recipe, but Beth clearly doesn’t remember that. Katie gets uncomfortable and takes Hope into the kitchen and Nick comes to the door. Beth lets him in and Hope runs up to him, clearly excited to see him. Nick picks her up and Katie looks surprised to see Nick saying she thought he was on his honeymoon. Nick says they had to cut it short because Bridget got called to the hospital. Katie and Nick both note that the other looks great.
Forresters and Bowling?
Brooke and Stephen find Beth with Hope at Brooke’s house. Brooke tells her mother that Katherine, the babysitter called them and wonders what brought her there. Beth doesn’t know, but Hope says she came to see her to say goodbye. Hope tells Beth she doesn’t want her to leave and Brooke says no one does. Beth doesn’t want to be a burden, but Brooke insists that it’s their turn to take care of her. Hope asks what a burden is and Brooke says, “Your grandmother isn’t one. No mater what she thinks.” Stephen wants to take Hope out of the room so Beth and Brooke can talk, but first Hope asks her grandma to say goodbye before she leaves. Brooke says she’s not going anywhere and Hope tells her grandma she loves her.
The Invisible Thread.
Beth goes to Brooke’s house and Katherine, the babysitter says she’s not sure when Brooke will be home. Beth says she’s only here for a few minutes before she goes to the airport and Katherine leaves the room. Beth looks around and remarks that Brooke really pulled herself up from that little house in the valley where they used to live. Beth thinks her girls will be fine because they have each other and then finds a music box. Hope comes out and tells her grandma that it is her mother’s music box. Beth remembers giving it to her as a little girl and Hope tells her name. Beth says she knows who she is and they have a nice bonding moment. Beth hugs Hope and says she doesn’t want to let her go.
Confession on the Shady Marlin!
Stephanie and Brooke are still discussing her being Jack's mother. Stephanie says she doesn't believe this won't be an issue. Felicia comes in with Hope and R.J. after a play date with cousin Dominick. After embracing their mom, they head to the kitchen and Stephanie wants to continue the conversation. Brooke tells her to stay out of it, but Stephanie says R.J.'s involvement makes it her business. Brooke says she won't let her treat her this way! She asks Stephanie if she is saying she doesn't want R.J. growing up in a loving home with her and Ridge?! Stephanie tells Brooke that she believes Brooke is still in love with Nick, so it will never work with Ridge - it's just wrong!
