Bridget and Nick call Owen in their office to ask him about surrogacy. He says it seemed legit and the woman who helped him, Andrea, was really good. Bridget wants to meet with her right away because she doesn’t want to wait another minute. Owen looks on pensively as Bridget excitedly talks about it to Nick.
Bridget sets up an appointment with Andrea and Owen reminds her and Nick to really check out the surrogate because she will be in their lives for nine months.
Bridget and Nick discuss how Jack will react to having a sibling and then Andrea comes in. They sit down to discuss the process and look through the surrogate profiles. They find one, Sandra Sommers, who Bridget seems to like and asks what the next step is. Andrea offers to set up an interview and will call them with the details. After Andrea leaves, Nick wonders if they are okay with this. Bridget is and Nick asks her to remind him that he is too. It would be Bridget’s pleasure and she kisses him.
Andrea leaves a message for the surrogate to tell her a couple is interested in her and that she was right, they loved everything about Sandra. Andrea reminds her she went out on a limb for her and says, “Don’t let me down Agnes.” She then secretly watches as Nick and Bridget discuss their future baby.
Brainstorming.
Bridget tells Nick and Jackie she can’t have kids, but she wants to focus on things she can do, like work. They head into the office where Whip, Owen, Stephanie and Pam are brainstorming ideas for a new campaign. They talk about Pam’s appearance on “The Catwalk” and how Pam stole the show. Whip then offers up an idea for a green campaign that features Owen and Jackie as Adam and Eve. They debate the merits of the idea and everyone gets onboard with the concept of the ‘original’ couple covering up in Jackie M fashions. Stephanie declares that Forrester could never come up with an idea as good as this.
After everyone has left, Bridget looks though a surrogacy pamphlet and wonders if it is right for them. Nick is receptive to the idea because it would be safe for her, but Bridget is upset she wouldn't be carrying their child herself. Nick reminds her it would still be their baby and that they should consider it. She agrees because she really wants to have a baby with him.
Be Happy With What You Have.
After doing an interview over the phone in French, Jackie hopes Owen won’t regret never being a father. Owen says there are many choices in life and he chooses her. Nick comes in and they tell him everything has been worked out and they want to go celebrate. Nick tells them Bridget has an appointment with her OBGYN and Jackie asks if everything is alright. Nick says it was just time for a checkup, but Jackie senses something is bothering Nick. She asks Owen to leave and asks her son what’s going on. She wonders if Bridget is pregnant and he says not that he knows of. He says losing their baby was the hardest thing they ever had to deal with and Bridget wants to erase that memory with a baby of their own. He’s scared to think about it because she almost died and had miscarriage since then. He can’t make the choice between Bridget and the baby if it comes down to it. Nick knows Bridget is talking to the doctor about getting pregnant and leaves to pick her up.
Bridget gets dressed as Nick comes to pick her up and tells him they won’t have the life they planned because she will probably never carry a child to term. She gets upset that she may never have a baby, but doesn’t want to give up. Nick says it might be best and declares he won’t go through what they did before again. He’s scared and reminds her she almost died. He’s made up his mind and will have a vasectomy if she goes off the pill. Nick just wants what he has. He loves her and wants to raise Jack with her and count his blessings every day. He’s good with the life that he has and hopes she is too. Bridget cries, as he takes her in his arms.
Plan B.
Bridget sits on Nick’s lap and kisses him in the office. She asks why Jackie was so standoffish with Jack and Nick says she is having trouble with children in general right now. Nick tells her about Owen’s desire to have a baby and Jackie’s reluctance. Bridget thinks they will work it out and that Jackie will make the sacrifice because that’s what you do when you love somebody. Nick wants to slap some sense into Owen, but Bridget believes Jackie will make the sacrifice.
Katie tells the family she put a spin on things because she couldn’t tell the press about their private agreement. Ridge, Eric, Donna and Brooke are unhappy with her and Ridge declares he won’t be Bill’s puppet or answer to anyone. Bill walks in and reminds them all that they signed contracts and they work for him. Eric states they work for themselves and if that’s not clear he should find a new design team. Bill tells them he would block them from working elsewhere and suggests they do what they do best - design - or they will regret it. Brooke is disappointed in Katie and wonders if she is going to stab them in the back. She asks, at the end of the day, who will she be loyal to – Bill or her family?
