Quote kim64: The whole Marcus story line is absurd. So Donna slept with a black guy - seems like the latest craze that Hollywood, network TV and the advertising business want to shove down our throats constantly. Marcus in no way even resembles Donna and he's too old. But not satisfied with that, now they are worming in a love sub-plot between Marcus and Ridge's daughter. I also suspect they are trying to tap into the Obama craze. They could have made this whole thing more believable and palatable by introducing a white love child for Donna and a white love interest for Ridge's daughter. If they don't ditch this whole plot soon, I will no longer tune in. It's all so foney and contrived to break down societal taboos. Well I like the taboos just they way they are. Anyone have the guts to admit they feel exactly as I do??? I don't think many will but I don't see a problem with you saying so. Sure there are a lot of interracial couples and biracial children (Holler It would have been much simpler to write him as white but they didn't. Did they do it to jump on some kind of bandwagon? I don't know, I'm not clear on the Hollywood craze thing or the Obama craze thing either, but They could have just written it this way to get some diversity into the show? But you'll never know if you don't continue to watch. |

I'm sure that Marcus was cast as a black male for a reason. Race hasn't been mentioned and maybe it won't but it's more than likely to come into play when/if the baby's daddy ever comes into the picture. Soaps tend to stay away from race so I doubt any storyline will ever go there.... |

Quote Touched: Quote calliope: Regardless of race, it does seem odd that a sister would not have asked who the father was. They all grew up together and wouldn't you wonder if you had known him? My sister was pregnant! It took me many years to even ask my mother, let alone my sister, about her son's father. Of course, I never asked my mother who my sister's father was, because it was really of no concern to me. My sister is my sister, and my nephew is my nephew, and who fathered them doesn't matter, if he didn't want to hang around. You have more restraint than me Touched. If my sister got pregnant I would definitely ask who the father was. As I said earlier, regardless of the baby's race I would want to know who the father is. Maybe I'm just nosey! I'm sure all of this will come up leter. |

Quote soapmommie: Ok all. Let's change the subject. How long are we going to keep this subject going??? The next s/l whould be who is Marcus father and what really happen with Donna and Marcus father. If Storny took such good care of of his sisters, how did they not know about Donna and this guy? Was Donna a hot momma in her teens? I guess so since she carried a baby for 9 months and her brother/sisters didn't know. When will we meet Marcus Sr? What do you guys think will happen now??? Donna has said Storm and her mother knew. She went to live with her aunt so the sisiters did not see her. |
