Am I the one that would even ask the question about Marcus' race? I am black and it doesn't seem racist or prejudice or politically incorrect to pose that question! It is human nature to notice the differences in people! I commend the writers for not making it an issue but really now! I would have not been surprised in the least if someone had brought it up! As a society, we are trying to ignore someone's skin color but let's face it, we haven't gotten there yet! Maybe I'm wrong! I hope I am! I hope this doesn't make people uncomfortable because that wasn't my intention but it was just something I thought about! |

Brooke is the only one that seemed to do a double take when she was told who he was. |

Why don't we all sit back and watch the show and not assume that someone or a character has a problem with another persons race, until they actually do. |

I think what I was trying to get across started a discussion which I did not mean to so I am sorry if I brought up! And instead of trying to explain and further dig myself in a hole, I will stop here! Love you all! |

Switzerland, I think this was discussed in a thread when Marcus first came on. Something like "Are we not supposed to notice Marcus is blacK?" It's probably back a few pages. I think it was one of those threads that got frustrating because no one actually could understand what the other person meant. Ya know how those go! |

Well, I agree with the original poster. I've been waiting for some character on the show to mention Marcus' race when introduced as Donna's son. Brooke's reaction was the closest thing we've gotten to that thus far. Not when he initially interrupted Brooke's and Donna's conversation, but when Donna told him not to leave then told Brooke, "...this is who we sent for...," or something like that. Brooke's expression was golden even if she didn't say a word! And having that expression...noticing someone's skin color...DOES NOT MAKE ONE PREJUDICE! Do I need to say it again? That is not what makes a person prejudice or racist. It merely means they're acknowledging what their eyes are seeing. Treating someone like a ridiculous stereotype or disliking said person SOLELY based on skin color is what makes someone prejudice or racist (respectively). |

Thanks Ladymac. That was clear enough to understand. people just wonder why no one asks Donna any questions. |

That thread was closed because it got way out of hand and I'm only assuming that this one will as well. Only a person that is color blind will not notice that Marcus is black until then I will sit back and enjoy the show and wait for the mystery to unravel, as to why Donna won't discuss his father because I assume that we all know he is an African American Man. |

I too am black. I wish we can move forward. I appreciate Switzerland concerns about the thread, however I think everyone have been very mature about this s/l. Just as everyone has noticed Brooke was the only one to express the look of R U 4 REAL.... LOL. Nevertheless, this may open the door for B & B to add some more color to the show. Thanks soap buddies. |

Now who are you going to vote for...LOL (Not really) I agree, and Brooke's reaction did take me by surprise. I was like what the heck is wrong with her? I'm surprised that she hasn't been with a man of color yet with all the bed hopping she does. |

I am also a black person and I cannont understand the reason why Marcus racial identity has not been addressed. He knows he is black and his mom is white with blond hair. Wouldn't it only make sense that he questions his racial identity. I would especially if I was dark skinned and showed know signs of being biracial. |

Marcus seems like a pretty intelligent young man and he doesn't appear to be blind, he certainly must know that his father is African American. I hope that the writer's do have Donna tell her son something about his father real soon and that she stops this foolish nonsense and tells Eric about her son before his whinning azz kids beat her to the punch and put their nasty spin on things. |

Well I'm black also, and it is what it is. Society hasn't gotten to that point yet to where it is not brought up, and I don't necessarily mean in a bad way. It just stands out, but it's true, it is a nice way to bring some color into the show. I'm enjoying the storyline personally. |

Believe me, enough people assume the wrong things about each race, culture, or society. It might be a suject better left for the lounge, though. If it goes off track a little, we can put it back on. Switzerland, if you want, I will join you in the lounge and in a good discussion regarding this issue. |
