i'm not condoning anything stephanie does these days. i'm really upset with her for this whole shane thing. but i totally disagree with those people who say she's in love and obessed with ridge. if that's the case then maybe she was obbessed with thorne when she took the blame for him when he shot ridge , or maybe she was obbeseed with taylor when she protected taylor for darla's death or she's obbessed with felicia. hello ridge is the one in all her children that gets himself in messes. i think stephanie has proven she'll protect all her children and memembers of her family at all cost. she's not in love with ridge. i think everyone has to remember the few instances her other children were trouble and see the lengths she went to protect, to have them back etc. ridge gets himself in trouble all the time that's why she keeps protecting. granted i think stephanie has gone off to the deep end. i think she needs a shrink, after all what she's been through. right now i just plain feel sorry for nick , taylor and brooke people i kinda dislike

I agree with you,I don't think that is the case at all I think she is written as an extremely over protective Mom who is also a control freak & all this can be traced back to her childhood ie her father!

IMO...folks say that to belittle how devoted Steph is to her kids and the lengths she would go to in order to protect them...this stems from her childhood abuse of not having that same protection growing up...she is not in lust with Ridge and to say that is sick! Frankly, she would do what many mothers/women would do to protect their child--get a shotgun, choke with a phone cord, WHATEVER is necessary to keep the THREAT from harming the child...I don't know anybody who would stand by and let someone like Brooke take advantage of a family without wanting to kill her with their bare hands...GO STEPH!

I agree with you I don't like Brooke nor do I like Taylor. They are both wrong for Nick, he should be with Bridgette.

I love Stephanie, she is by far my favorite character on the show, she's wonderful. She will do what it takes to protect her loved ones. Don't stand in her way either!!

Yea, I kinda wrote the "in love with Ridge" comment off as someone who may have read one too many shrink books. She just protects her offspring. Look what she did to keep Felicia alive for crying out loud!

I don't think anyone was trying to belittle Stephanie's love for her children but you have to admit that her relationship with Ridge is different from that with her other children. Ridge is the favored son and she is always ALWAYS involved with him in one way or another and it isn't always about protecting him. Those two have Oedipus complex written all over them but I don't think they have romantic feelings for each other. Thorne and Felicia have both vocalized that they never felt as important to their mother as Ridge. When Thorne went to run Spectra he told Stephanie in no uncertain terms that he was tired of always coming in second best. Ooo...Stephanie kinda reminds me of Sante Kimes except she's not killing people for their real estate!

i disagree stephanie is always involve with ridge because he makes bad choices and she always thinks she is doing it to protect him. and trust me ridge has made plenty of bad choices, brooke number 1 being the number one bad choice. yes both thorne and felicia have voice their feelings about ridge being her favourite but i don't think they can say that anymore because when thorne was working at spectra she supported him i think stephanie and felicia werethe only ones who supported thorne for working at spectra, when she found out that she owned the company she made thorne not ridge predesdiant, protectin taylor for darla's death because she thought she was protecting thorne, keeping felicia alive without anyone not even ridge knowing. hey yes i believe ridge is her favourite but none of the others got themselves into the messes ridge gets himself into. and some people do believe stephanie is in love with ridge

I see what you're saying Lusciousbabe...and yes she did support Thorne when he went to Spectra and yes she did make him the president when she found out the company was hers but for Stephanie that's nothing. If she really wanted to support Thorne she would have made sure that he had the same opportunities Ridge had. Thorne said that he was always told that he was good but not as great as Ridge. Is that how a mother encourages and supports her child, by telling him that even though he has talent he doesn't hold a candle to his older brother? The only reason she made Thorne president of the company was because Ridge was in support of Eric having the company. If Eric had said, "Okay Stephanie, I lied. The company is yours...you can keep it and I won't fight you," she would have made Ridge the president in a heartbeat but because he thought that she would ruin the company he sided with Eric.

As far as Felicia is concerned, what mother wouldn't do that? She certainly wouldn't sit back and watch her child die if she could do something to prevent it. That's a mother's natural instinct. However, some of the things that Stephanie does for Ridge is NOT a mother's natural instinct. Why must she control who Ridge loves? Someone on the show once said to Stephanie that the only reason she wanted Ridge to be with Taylor was because Taylor was a lot like her and Stephanie said that they were right. Then that character accused her of being in love with him...and again I don't think it's a romantic love, it's more of a controlling love.

I really think that the reason Ridge is the favorite is because Massimo is his father. Stephanie held on to her love for him through Ridge. She has always catered to him, even when he wasn't making stupid mistakes. I'm not trying to defend the statement that was made, Stephanie is in love with Ridge, I'm just saying that I can see how a person could think that.
