:~ I've been wondering why B&B won that Emmy and simply can't remember the biggest storylines. Who had the biggest S/L in 2008-2009? ... |

Quote BetchaDidntKnow: I remember the Taylor/Nick/, Pam/Donna S/L, Rick/Taylor S/L, death of Phoebe S/L, Rick/Steffy, Rick/Ridge, Thomas/Rick... Anyone what to help out? It's a puzzler as to why they would win anything. |

It was because of Storm dying, the heart given to Katie, Logan family grief etc.... |

I'm glad that finally won an Emmy. I think that the writing should be good enough to win one. |

Quote jilltidwell: I'm glad that finally won an Emmy. I think that the writing should be good enough to win one. Your last line says it all, but problem is that the writing really isn't good enough. One good s/l doesn't make up for all the bad s/ls we had to endure this past year. Especially the Rick,Ridge,Steffy s/l. If I didn't have a FF button on my TIVO, I would have shot my tv or at least thrown things at it a lot. The show centers to much around the same ol same ol and people and s/ls year after year lately. They need to bring in a lot more new blood and spice it back up like it was years ago with Sally and Masimo and Sheila. |

I seriously thought we were being punked or something when the Emmy win announcement was made...I'm like "really?" I agree with some of you about the FF button, I feel bad even taping the show because most days I end up FF through most of it. LOL...I probably see 10-15 min (sometimes less) of the show each day...I don't see how they won the Emmy either, and I feel bad saying that but...the proof is in the pudding, the writing isn't all that stellar and the rehashed Brooke/Ridge/Taylor crap was just unnecessary...the only thing that stood out was Phoebe's dying and the family's grief afterwards, but that's about it, really... |

I thought that B & B would take it for best show, and when I went out to L.A. for Emmy weekend, I was around some of the actors from several shows and the general concensus from everyone was that B & B would definitely take it and they did. So the industry folks thought it was the best, also. |

So the industry folks thought it was the best, also. Maybe, but the industry folks don't watch all these different shows day in and day out the way we fans do and they don't get to see the constant repetitive s/ls the way we do or the same acting for those same s/ls. The only half way decent s/ls they had this year were the heart transplant and Pheobe's death. |

You are missing the whole point, a show submits an Emmy reel of what they consider is their best. B & B did and the judges all thought that Storm's death and Katie's heart transplant were enough to win. It isn't a whole year of good storylines, it's just one Emmy reel. Every show sends in what they think is their best and the judges choose from all of the best for the winner. Industry might not watch every individual tape of every show every day but that isn't the criteria for the award. |

I think the "industry folks" made some wheeling and dealing behind the scenes for that B&B win to happen...I mean really, what does this say about the quality of a good soap opera if you only need 2 storylines to win an Emmy. Some health crisis or death has to occur to win an award? What about the content of the material for the rest of the year, what about having various storylines that don't insult your intelligence, etc etc? For a 30 minute soap, I know it must be tough to cram in what you can, but you can cram in more quality than crap (i.e., watching Brooke and Taylor compete for Ridge's affections for the UMPTEENTH TIME! i have no idea how they won but they should change the title of the show from The B&B to the Bold & Boring. |
