Does anyone know if CBS is considering expanding B&B to 1 hour since Guiding Light is being cancelled? It's the #2 soap and I think would be GREAT NEWS!

they should if they plan on some new cast. like young ones growing up. but I heard they not gonna. but we can hope. if only their were more storylines.

Why didn't they just keep GL and shorten it to 30 minutes?

Because GL ratings was too low, they had a certain amount of time to up the ratings but could not deliver so thats why they got axed off the show. I'm hearing ATWT is next.

No plans of expanding especially in light of the economy. They simply cannot afford the salaries of additional writers and actors at this time.

Personally, I hope they don't ever expand B&B to one hour. I believe that the hour format is part of the problem when it comes to holding viewers in today's "short attention span" world. The half hour format gives us lots of drama in short order while keeping the focus on the day's main plot threads, and leaves us wanting more each day - the perfect way to keep a serial fresh. And honestly, B&B's half hour format is what's made it possible for the Ridge/Brooke/Taylor triangle to continue for the better part of twenty years. If they'd had an hour worth of story everyday for the last two decades, more viewers would be tired of them going back and forth so much.

I just read that they are going with a game show.It exscapes me right now.It was another one of Bob Barkers old shows.It might be on the guiding lights forum I think.But I know that was the decision by CBS.
