Totally agree. If Rick just wanted to be with Steffy, he wouldn't be sticking this relationship in front of Ridge, Taylor and Thaoms all the time. Steffy knows how her family feels and now she is doing the same thing. They know the feelings of people, why put everyone through this. They're adults and don't need anyone's approval, so why keep doing this upheaval to everyone. Makes me believe it is all about Rick sticking it to Ridge again. Rick getting his mother involved in this is all about breaking up Ridge and Brooke, he knows what will break them up and has planned it precisely.

Brooke didn't approved. She was just being realistic that parents can't control grown children. So she refused to act like an idiot (i.e. Ridge) to jump up and down to demand the children to submit to her will.

Rick is using Steffy so we know why he keeps sticking it in front of Ridge's face, but Steffy is looking for approval because she loves her parents and wants their support. She may not too bright, but she loves her parents and is a good daughter. Just because she loves someone that her parents don't approve, doesn't mean she is a bad daughter.
