A computer question

I am new to the computer. And I want to ask how to start a new paragraph. I have tried vairious keys. I know this is not a soap question but could someone please fill me in on this? I feel kind of dumb asking this but I can't figure it out. I could go ask google but I don't want to have to go off the message board and then go back on it. I will still try to figure this out while I'm waiting for an answer.

trixie--when you want to start a new paragraph--hit enter
once (or twice --depending on the amount of space you want between paragraphs).
