The GOP Objects To 40 Democratic Women Inserting Their Remarks Into The Record.
Those uppity females in Congress. Who do they think they are, trying to participate in our democracy on one of the biggest bills in front of Congress?
Rep. Tom Price (R-GA), one of the GOP's minions, continues the Joe Wilsonification of Congress to prevent discussion over Stupak's amendment, one that may actually lead to effectively a ban on abortion for low income women:
“The real goal of abortion opponents isn't to maintain the status quo. It's to extend federal prohibitions into private pocketbooks. By restricting coverage offered through the exchange, they hope to make abortion coverage so unattractive that insurers eventually stop offering it in the market for individual and small-group policies.”
And they don't even want us to discuss it. Those white men of the GOP don't want women to insert their remarks into the record.
How dare they? Ladies and gentlemen, I give you The Party of No:

I know I've made it very clear before that baiting other posters is not tolerated. Going into the other political threads and coming here just to bait and bash them is against guidelines and I've told everyone this on several different occasions. Bans will be issued with no questions asked and if anyone else decides that they want to continue on with the posts that I've already had to remove, they will be banned as well.
Please read my latest thread for your reference: http://www.soaps.com/board/120261/
Now lets get back on topic with this thread.
Thank you, Kathryn

Must bump this back. Immediately after I posted my former comment this thread disappeared. When I googled it, it went way back to page 86 - in about l second. How do you suppose that happens?

Katherine, I hope this was not seen or understood as baiting. I prefaced my post acknowledging everyone has and is entitled to their oopinion. I did not quote anyone, but rather commented on a foreign report as to how cultural diversity should be handled as the Romans do. In fact my adversions to this type of rhetoric was directed to the foreign source, not the poster. If someone in this thread had quoted the same source, my response would have been the same! It was not directed to anyone in that thread nor meant to critize their positions. I think you misunderstood my comments and I cannot understand where you feel in any of my comments that there was any baiting whatsoever.

Al Gore on U.S. climate change deniers' image abroad
Nov. 6: Rachel Maddow talks to former Vice President Al Gore about how American legislators who deny global warming will be received at the climate change convention in Copenhagen.
The House of Representatives on Saturday night passed a sweeping health care bill by a vote of 220-215.
Earlier, the House passed an amendment to pending health care legislation that prohibits federal funds for abortion services in the public option and in the insurance "exchange" the bill would create.
The vote passed 240-194.
A second amendment considered by the House, introduced by Minority Leader John Boehner, which would have substituted several sections of the health care bill dealing with insurance, did not pass. Legislators voted against the amendment 258-176.
This is sickening. Rep. John Shadegg uses baby Maddie, a 7-month-old daughter of his Chief of Staff to the floor as a prop during the health-care debate in the House earlier today.
The Political Carnival writes:
I wanted to "spit up", and wished Maddy had.
Yes, John Shadegg actually used an innocent infant as a prop, spoke baby talk, and provided us with nothing more than what was most likely in Maddy's diaper at the time. And for this, he got applause.
The collective (im)maturity of the Rushpublic side of the aisle doesn't come close to measuring up to Maddy's level of sophistication. How utterly humiliating.
Henry Waxman made a joke and said: “That was a remarkable child,” “and a great ventriloquist.”
How could a father let his child be used as a prop like that? What would have happened if he hurt her in any way? The entire Republican Party is made up of fools, and I mean the staffers as well. And then there are the people who applauded this stunt ...
By the way, John Shadegg does have a somewhat checkered past, if you remember...
The one House Republican to support health care reform said on Sunday that his decision to back the bill was driven by his conscience and the needs of his district and not back-room dealing with the White House or Democrats.
Rep. Joseph Cao (R-La), appearing on CNN, said that he cast his vote in favor of reform only after an amendment greatly restricting the coverage of abortions was allowed to come to a vote. Once that hurdle was clear, Cao said, "I called the White House and said I could possibly support the bill."
The subject of a fierce, late-in-the-game, lobbying effort between Democrats and Republicans, Cao ultimately voted yea because, as he put it, "I had to make a decision of conscience based on the needs of the people in my district."
"I had to make a decision and I felt that last night's decision was the right decision for my district," he added. "Even though it was not the popular decision for my party."
