VITTER: And I'm absolutely supportive of any case like that being prosecuted criminally to the full extent of the law.

WOMAN: But there are rape victims who are being kept silent.

WOMAN: But how can you support [a law] that tells a rape victim that she does not have the right to defend herself?

VITTER: Ma'am The language in question did not say that in any way shape or form.

WOMAN: But it is unconstitutional to have a law that says a woman does not have a right to defend herself.

VITTER: You realize Mr. Obama was against that amendment that his administration was against that amendment

WOMAN: But I'm not asking Obama. I'm asking you.

VITTER: Do you think he's in favor in rape?

WOMAN: I'm asking you Senator. What if it was your daughter who was raped? Would you tell her to be quiet and take it? Would you tell your daughter to be silent?

I caught the Daily Show last night, and Jon killed it when he talked about the NJ governor's race and the NY-23 Reps and city mayoral races.

As I listened to the NJ governor candidates speak, all I could wonder is--really, this is the best that NJ can come up with? These guys do not look like they should be entrusted with the governorship of Mars, much less New Jersey.

On to NYC--Jon showed Bloomberg's commercial showing him sitting at the kitchen table, saying this is where he and the average joes make their decisions...I'm thinking--'dude, you are a billionaire..the only thing you have in common with average joes is the use of a toilet, that's about it.'

And OMG, the Repub NY-23 (Hoffman) candidate--ummm...is he slow or something? He looks and sounds so....dumber than Forrest Gump slow. Jon showed a clip of this guy on Beck's show, and it was like watching a crazed tv host interview a dumb extra from the movie 'Deliverance.' **shudder**

Seriously...all of the hoopla are over these guys? WOW!

The Repubs had a good election day today... in VA and NJ. Who wants to send these two wahoos some champagne? LOL

I tell you, those Independents are as fickle as fleas, jumping on the Dem boat last year, now on the Repub boat this year...

Mr. Independent Bloomberg won his third term as NY mayor--he has effectively broken the trend of wealthy candidates who typically lose when they shell out big bucks (i.e. Perot, Romney, etc).

I was looking at the CNN polls a few minutes ago, and it's very interesting---when one party controls the White House, typically mid-term elections trend towards the other party.

But...the NY-23 race is really the needle that's broken the Repub party's back and symptomatic of how cancerous things are--the split between Conservs and Mods has now divided the party, and the Dem candidate Owens is another Dem put in our pocket on the Hill. Sweet! Another Dem on Capitol Hill...

So, it looks like that psycho Glenn Beck doesn't get his weirdo crony Hoffman in NY-23 in the US Congress! THANK GOD!!!

I guess most of us took a cue from President Obama tonight---he watched the Bulls game instead of the elections--he ain't sweating a thing, that guy!

What did you guys think about today? I wasn't jazzed up about any of these elections...

Do you guys remember what you were doing and feeling this time last year? Do you remember the moment they announced Barack had won the presidency?

Victories in New Jersey and Virginia Tuesday provided a major shot in the arm for the Republican Party heading into the 2010 elections, but the Democratic losses of these two governorships should not be interpreted as a significant blow to President Obama.

While the economy and jobs were the chief concern for voters in both states, 26 percent of New Jersey residents said property taxes was also a major issue, while another 20 percent mentioned corruption, according to CNN exit polling. In a similar CNN survey taken in Virginia, health care was the most important issue for 24 percent of the voters, while 15 percent named taxes and transportation was mentioned by 7 percent.

Further proof that this election was not solely focused on Obama, 56 percent of Virginians said that the president was not a factor when it came down to their vote. In New Jersey, that number increased to 60 percent of the people who went to the polls on Tuesday.

This is great news that this seniors' organization supports this legislation. I'm happy that the 'death panel' tactics didn't take root for most seniors, thank goodness.

The GOP called for the check Wednesday night, having had enough of the fight over an extension of unemployment benefits that the party had held up for several weeks.

While the Senate was stuck in parliamentary limbo, some 200,000 people actively looking for work lost their unemployment benefits. The bill extends unemployment benefits for an additional 14 weeks across the country, and in some states with the highest unemployment the extension goes to 20 weeks.
