[quote]Quote OspreyGirl: Last month, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) proposed an amendment to the 2010 Defense Appropriations bill that would withhold defense contracts if companies “restrict their employees from taking workplace sexual assault, battery and discrimination cases to court.” Although the amendment passed, 30 Republican senators voted against it. |

Quote OspreyGirl: Quote cats meow: just went to the site, if i am wrong please correct me, seems like the right wing nuts are going after the moderate republicians, they want their candidates running, they were influential enough to get a moderate to step down????? this is very good news for us ps joe lieberman is an a hole, obama should have kicked his sorry azz to the curb You read that right...conserv Repubs don't truly embrace mod Repubs like Colin Powell et al because mods typically don't embrace the support of the lunatic fringe of the party. As it appears from that article and what's happening in the Repub party, there is talk about the party splitting and a third party formed solely of conserv Repubs that embrace the lunatic fringe like Sarah Palin, etc. It's funny, John McCain is despised by the likes of Limbaugh, but McCain would sooner cut off his foot before admitting that he actually agrees with the President's policies on healthcare or anything beyond supporting the troops, putting more money into the wars, etc. LOL...I wish Obama and the ENTIRE Dem party would give Lieberman his walking papers...singing-- Hey! Joe! Get off of my cloud! Hey! Joe! Get off of my cloud! Hey! Joe! Get off of my cloud! Don't hang around cuz two's a crowd! mick jagger is the man!!!!! saw him live 6 times!!! |

I caught the Daily Show last night, and Jon killed it when he talked about the NJ governor's race and the NY-23 Reps and city mayoral races. |

Quote Eppy: Just a question. Where is SaraConnor? Is she still posting and I just missed her? I was wondering the same. She hasn't been on for quite a long time. Don't know what happened. Maybe somebody that kept in contact with her would know. |

Victories in New Jersey and Virginia Tuesday provided a major shot in the arm for the Republican Party heading into the 2010 elections, but the Democratic losses of these two governorships should not be interpreted as a significant blow to President Obama. |

hard to believe it is an entire year |
OspreyGirl![]() |
Quote cats meow: hard to believe it is an entire year I know! Time just flew by---man what a year! The country was celebrating for a good 6 months that Bush was no longer in office---UNTIL, the lunatic fringe flared up with their teabagging, birthers, READ THE DAMN BILL, death panels, and other craziness. Our elected officials on both sides of the aisle in Congress were walking around with their thumbs up their butts in shock after Barack told them to do their jobs, hold town hall meetings, and draft proposals for his healthcare reform vision. SHOCKER! And many Americans everywhere were 'confused' by this because they thought the President can just ride in, do what he wants, and tell everyone to deal with it. Welcome to the political process, America! After the House went through their committees in March, they had to sit and wait for the Senate to stop beating each other with stupid sticks and letting the lunatic fringe rattle their cages--on both sides of the aisles...that is, until one side decided to embrace the crazy, and are now stuck with a deal the devil won't break. Of course, we lost our greatest healthcare champion in the Senate, Ted Kennedy, but thankfully, Barack didn't let that torch hit the ground. It's been 60 years of attempts to get this done, and Teddy served over 47 years of that. The President holds a Joint Session of Congress, and we saw the utmost example of disrespect towards a sitting President EVER by Mr. 'You Lie'Wilson. Naturally, that woke people up that this guy was the poster child of Repub 'stuck on stupid' and the fire reignited for Senate Dems to get healthcare passed. DUH! Then out of left field, we got one of our own with enough balls and moxy to call BS when he sees it...Rep. Grayson. "Don't get sick, but if you do get sick, die quickly!" Thus was the breakdown of 'healthcare proposal nothingness' which by October, summed up the Repub agenda and their buddies in healthcare insurance companies. The recession is now receding, stocks and trading are up, but companies are still hesitant to hire right now. Now---here we are, the President has a Nobel Peace Prize...lol...we are in the final stages of passing real healthcare reform, we have the majority in the House, Senate, and Hillary Clinton is slapping men around in the Middle East and telling them straight on to stop playing America for a fool--if you want to find bin Laden, you need to DO MORE too... And now we wait for the floor debates to begin. Overall, most Americans are feeling a combination of anger, frustration, and anxiety--and of course, the political sharks are out there to take advantage of that as a "win." IMO...I think many of our citizens needed this time of recession to get back to basics, get off of the high hog of being spoiled with excess from the Dot.com era, stop abusing their credit by living beyond their means, and get more involved in what's happening in the country besides watching and exercising the right to vote on 'American Idol' rather than at the polls... Whew! I know I've left some things out, but my God--would you want to be President during all of this? Thank God we do not have a fool sitting in the White House anymore. We got less than 60 days left in the year--wonder how this year is going to cap off? Are we going to blow up dust on the moon again? LOL |

The GOP called for the check Wednesday night, having had enough of the fight over an extension of unemployment benefits that the party had held up for several weeks. |
