Quote OspreyGirl: Guys, I was thinking about something earlier today...let's see...I'm not a part of the generation of kids that grew up post WWII 1940s-1960s. I'm wondering though...during that time, when you had only a radio and/or tv (with very little channels), and you got news about something deemed "harmful or dangerous," the psyche was to duck, cover, and hate what seemingly caused the issue, right? Ummm...you basically didn't question what was told to you, i.e., the Russians are all cold hearted killers who hate America, etc. So as a result, if Walter Cronkite or his predecessors said something was "news," you just took it as fact. I'm wondering...if some of these misguided folks who believe in Fox News and other lunatic fringe broadcasts, are from this same school of (non)thought--listen to every syllable spoken by the guy or gal anchorman, accept it as truth, and hate anyone who disagrees with what was said. Help me out here...I'm trying to figure out, I guess, why are there so many people so hell bent on believing lies when they are presented with facts or truths that negate what they were told to believe? I'm just trying to figure out the psyche of people who treat Limbaugh, Beck, Fox News, etc, like a religion. I probably didn't make two cents out of common sense in typing this out, but just wanted to dump it out of my brain. Fox and the current Republican Party play (prey) on people's fears and anxiety over their own personal crisis. Check out this clip of an interview with Max Blumenthal, author of Republican Gemorah. I think it explains a lot, and worth the 12 minutes...although the first 30 seconds is an ad. Worth a look! www.youtube.com/watch?v=aekmhKiX0K8 |

I'm really interested in getting the book to read more from Max. Dotson(sp?)---the guy Max referenced as a major influence within the Repub party---this guy is lauded as a genius, God-inspired? Who tells a grown man to take his son into the shower to show his son who the dominate male of the home is? Is THIS guy REALLY lauded as the voice of reason within the Repub party? OMG--this guy is sick and nuts! Pot meet kettle, a thousand times over...makes so much sense as to why the crazies internalize and rationalize this gutter mentality to hate, attack, and push fear so much. It's good for me to hear from more people like Max who've done extensive research on this dying dinosaur of a political party. I feel like my earlier post was throwing a pity bone based on generational experiences with media influences... |

Quote wannazach: Osprey you made perfect sense to me. I know exactly what you are saying. However I have a different take on this somewhat. Yes Faux is nothing but a bunch of lying terroristist hate mongers who get their thrills out of causing pandamonia if their "PARTY" is not in control. But with all of that said there has never been this much hatred thrown at anyone ever in the past. NEVER were there hate threads like this about Bush. That is kinda odd don't you think. Seriously the dems seemed to except that he was pres and hope for the best. This is all "PERSONAL" and it is all about Obama. Before Obama Faux reached out to reign in viewers. Now there is so much hated of our new President that people are running to Faux in droves hoping they will supply them with an excuse to use to try and justify their evil hatred. They hate Obama but will not admit the "REAL" reason. (which we all know). Faux is being used as a scape goat to justify the evil actions being displayed throughout our country. They can't just come out and say we hate him because he is black and he is a dem because that would ruin the image they are trying to display. This is were the Faux lies become their gospel to use as amo. No Faux and the REAL people would shine through. To sum this up imo these people are running to Faux begging for any morsel of untrue info to make them feel better when they try and sleep at night... I totally and completely agree with you...thanks for understanding my rambling post... All of this foolishness is personal against Obama...and anything to throw up as an excuse as to why they dislike him so much is a cover of their racism. "Don't raise our taxes!" Oh really, teabaggers--I'm sure Ronnie Reagan would rise from the grave to coach Obama on that since he was such a damn expert during the 80s on high taxes! "Follow the Constitution!" Okay, and when did Obama and his cabinet put the Constitution on a bonfire? Should I even be on this computer right now---my husband might lash me for typing words! "Taking back our country!" So, who had it the last 8 years---Donald Duck, Saddam Hussein--who? And how do you define "our?" I've asked that question several times on various threads on this board, and that has yet to be defined in regards to that ridiculous slogan. "No socialized healthcare!" I see--so in 9 months or so, our democracy and its laws changed into a socialist country and dictatorship. Terrible! Damn Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security! We need to pull ourselves up by our own boot straps, take care of our own! Question: how many of these fools have refused to receive any of these govt funded benefits and just 'get by?' Instead, we saw several elderly get conned to show up at town hall meetings, clapping their dentures through shouts of 'keep your hands off of my Medicaid!' Where did the dentures come from Betsy---your govt sponsored medical provider or did you chisel those suckers from wood? It's just all incredibly crazy and all it boils down to is this---these people do not feel comfortable having a non-white person, ESPECIALLY A BLACK MAN, with that much power and influence over their lives. It scares the hominy grits out of them each night they go to bed that he is going to 'incite the blacks' to riot and rampage white people, set off nuclear bombs ON US, rape/pillage, make all illegal immigrants citizens, and set up death panels for dying racists. The fear engulfs these nutjobs so badly that they buy and stock guns like bottled water in natural disaster supplies. It's wrong....it's insane...and it's shameful! How many of you slept soundly when Dubya was in office? Did you fear he was going to incite riots in the streets, subjugate blacks and people of color to slavery, etc? As much as I and many of you loathe Bush/Cheney...and loathe is a nice word IMO...I did not go out and buy 10 oozies, 100 grenades, and various assault weapons to prepare for a race war! OMG--shocking, hunh--me being a Marine vet and all? Surely I must naturally hate my country, hunt wolves from helicopters, strap guns to my hips outside town hall rallies, and want to see my President fail, right? UGH! It's just such a waste of time trying to understand people like this---is there any hope for them at all? |

For weeks, former Bush administration officials have been attacking President Obama for “dithering” on whether to send more troops to Afghanistan, with Vice President Cheney saying that “signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries.” But these Bush officials are also facing criticisms for largely neglecting Afghanistan in order to invade Iraq. In response, they have been citing an Afghanistan strategy report they handed off to the Obama administration that clearly laid out recommendations for moving forward. |

ON A LIGHTER NOTE - - -! |

Quote puddycat: ON A LIGHTER NOTE - - -! My (our) Prez will be arriving here at the Jacksonville NAS at 2:45 PM. He is scheduled to make a speech and rally the troops before he heads to Miami for a Monday evening fund-raiser for congressional Democrats. Jax NAS is five minutes from my house and, even though it is not open to the public, a friend of mine and myself are going to drive over there. I still have the NAS entrance sticker on my car (it was my Dad's car before he passed away) and we are going to just get in and see what we can see. It will be fun! Wow, Puddy, that's cool! Make sure to report back to us what your experience was like down there---also, make sure to snap a photo if there are free swine flu shots being given out, and Barack invites you to poke him with the needle... I WANT PROOF that he got one... Just kidding...have fun and drive safe! |

Along with Beck and Limbaugh, there has to be a special place in hell for Malkin! |

Quote OspreyGirl: Along with Beck and Limbaugh, there has to be a special place in hell for Malkin! Surprise! Michelle Malkin mocks David Axelrod and his disabled daughter Obama Derangement Syndrome truly knows no bounds in Malkin's hate-driven world. It's a demented zone where children are always targeted for political attack. Incredibly, Malkin today unveils dripping contempt for White House aide David Axelrod and his epileptic daughter. Why? Because Axelrod had the nerve to appear on 60 Minutes and discuss the disease. Here's Malkin in full-shriek mode: So is White House senior adviser/Astroturf master/Big Pharma beneficiary David Axelrod, who appeared on 60 Minutes with Katie Couric this weekend to talk about the epilectic daughter he never sees because he's so busy trying to salvage his boss's government health care takeover plans. The AP dutifully recycled the story -- which itself had been recycled from February's Parade magazine. mediamatters.org/blog/200910260019 can you imagine if something was said about sarah palin's son |

We got through the entrance gate after waiting almost 30 minutes because of all the security, almost turned around and went back. Traffic running all through the base was at a snail's pace. Finally went to the O Club and ordered a drink Saw Air Force One in the sky, landing. Fantastic view. Then sat and watched on big screen tv, the whole speech. Saw Air Force One leaving (after another two drinks Actually, Osphrey, the friend who went with me is an RN and I told her about your request to give him his Swine Flu shot. Sorry, we couldn't have gotten that close - - the security was UNBELIEVABLE! Never seen anything like it. (Thanks to all the haters out there) You couldn't have gotten through that security if you were wearing a nose stud!! He wanted to walk from the plane to the hanger, which was very close, but Secret Service said NO WAY! It was fun and exciting - - Puddy |
